Can you imagine if there was a general chat used to speak between teams?
What could happen…? Just a funny thing that I had on my mind.
I imagine lots of rude people saying some things to the other team like “Oh you lucky ****” and funny things, like sick mind games ahahah.
That is called ‘‘all chat’’ like LOL have. Its used to mock and flame enemy players. In my opinion that kind of chat is even more hostile then your own team chat lol.
Thank you, I knew that as “General chat”, but All Chat is better
As toxic hots is, an all chat in-game wouldn’t make much of a difference on disadvantages or advantages.
Alot of people on the forums are like “omg it would break the game, people would abuse it”…
let me show you the “report function” then?
Dota2 has all-chat and it’s not really used to flame, people mostly only say GG at the end.
I don’t think it would fit into HotS though, this community attracts quite a bit more toxic folk.
All chat would just mean more people reported and then silenced and then eventually banned. Under a different report system it could work, under what we have in place now, nope.
Then i guess Dota 2 got a nicer playerbase then LOL ? When i watch Youtube clips of all chat in LOL i start question myself how toxic humans can be. I even read articles about people in LOL that got arrested for abuse chat cause he went too far.
EU general chat on an afternoon.
Dont ask me what they talk about in the evenings.
This made me laugh a lot ahahah
I choosed an less problematic example, but there are also worse ones. At the very least we can say Allchat can be seen as sth. to equalize toxicity between all players, because in Dota 2 there is also an strategic option to tilt the enemy team before your own gets tilted. And we all know that tilt heavily influence the skill of the player and if you are tilted you tend to play worse.
But personally I wouldn’t like allchat here with our automated reportsystem, because this would increase the bans, because then you can easier talk to enemys to report certain players.
I agree, I don’t like that much all chat in this game. I just wanted to know everyone’s opinion
On paper it has the potential to be fun, but the reality is probably more like the example Yusuke provided. Couple that with Blizzards report system, then it becomes even worse. Lots of people don’t even use chat for fear of getting reported, let alone all chat.
Personally I like the idea, but humans ruin everything.
I can see someone calling out “This player sucks” and everyone on both teams agrees. That’s going to either make you stronger than you ever wanted to be or give you that feeling where you want to put yourself in a hole. Big Oof!
I guess it wouldn’t be the biggest problem as long as you have the option to turn off all chat though.
This… Not to sound like a total misanthrope, but 90% of people (per Sturgeon’s law) are garbage and will abuse any goodwill given to them to the full extent.
Things like allchat can work. Sure, with two premade groups of friends who already know each other. So just like HGC, where they did have all chat.
Blizzard saw this lightyears ahead in Hearthstone and completely disabled chat. For the better, since so many kids play it.
Like Yusuke said it totally depends on the MMR you play in Dota 2. In Divine and Immortal MMR practically nobody flames. People are more courteous and intelligent in general. You can watch any Immortal stream and there is not a single soul flaming anyone on the enemy side or friendly side.
Watch some Herald or Guardian matches (same as Bronze or Silver in Hots) and it’s a toxic hellhole just like in Yusuke’s screenshot. Most of them are indians and russians who will spam you death threats if they lose the match or if you manage to kill them.
I only played that game a few times but I remember some players whould just be rude with emotes insteed.
The few times I’ve been in versus games in Left 4 Dead 2 with all chat have always been as followed:
Teams are either typing or talking over headsets.
Someone points at they can see/hear the opposing team.
A dead silence ensues.
The trash talking starts and steadily becomes more and more vulgar depending on the flow of the game.
Rage quitting, team fragging, and other forms of chaos may or may not ensue. Tea bagging may become commonplace. Possibly excessive screaming. At least one person farts into their headset.
I admit I like voice feature in HS, my all time favorite is banned in Hearthstone for misinterpretation:
(2:15)
But you can see the abuse of the voiclelines already in the video by Rexxar spamming “Well played”… And a lot of players begging Blizzard for an auto-squelch feature, because they are tired of muting players again in the next match… Personally I got triggered sometimes too, but I never felt the need for it, but that’s shows perfectly how toxicity escalated in pvp games, even in a game like HS, where you can’t communicate directly.
Ironically this behaviour is kinda new to online games or school toxicity in particular, but I never saw this extreme cases, when I played Go (boardgame) on tournements/locals.
Just now, I imagined if there was an all chat and some rude or afk player would give informations about his team to the enemy. And nothing could stop him to type everything, except a ban given after a while.
