Can we have Haunted Mines back?

It’s quite possible many of you don’t even know what I’m talking about. Haunted Mines was a map from the release of the game that was taken out of rotation. At this point I’m pretty sure its been out or rotation longer than it was in. When you play on Towers of Doom, That’s where the grave keeper is from. I personally liked that map, and we have plenty of maps now that people shouldn’t burn out on it, which if memory serves is why it was taken out, and it was too similar to another map, but at this point is that even a real problem anymore? The map can still be accessed in costom games but for someone who plays primarily QM I would like a chance to play it again.

All I remember is my computer taking a few milliseconds to load the transition between the overmap and mines and I’d be dead from the enemy team hitting me before I loaded. I didn’t like that map

sure we can, wait me a moment…

I posted a thread asking about haunted mines a week ago; Expect a ton of people coming and crapping on you for asking for it back :stuck_out_tongue:
Its apparently viewed poorly amongst the more competitive players

I mean if people hate certain maps so much offer a way to blacklist maps. I for one hate towers of doom and would love to black list that.

They took it out of rotation because the map had TOO many bugs, some really bad because of how the mines work. They said they have some ideas to rework it and maybe bring it back in the future, but those are just ideas, nothing concrete. They also said that they just don’t have the time now to work on the map and fix everything they need to put it back into rotation, so definitely don’t expect it back that soon.

Yes, after that post it was a bit more clear why they haven’t added HM back yet. It’s not about just re-balancing it, but the huge amount of bugs it has. I can just imagine how many more there would be with new heroes like Qhira and Deathwing with their unique mechanics.

I do miss it though, I loved having a two level map, just like I miss the old Garden Terror vehicles, they had some very nifty and unique ideas back in the day.

I honestly hope that the map never returns in its current state. I did play it in custom games with some friends a few weeks ago and realised again how terribly bad its design is. If you play the map properly there’s 0 reason to go into the mines for first 10 - 15 minutes basically. Split-pushing gets you way more value than the actual objective until the mid game and then you’re still able to avoid most pvp fights.

I hope that map never gets into the rotation ever again unless it’s completely reworked and re-designed.

  1. The obj is useless and split-pushing just offers way too much value, a nazeebo, azmodan or just anyone with a decent amount of siege can get the value that a full health Golem boss cannot.
  2. It’s way too buggy, it seems like the mine is under the map but at the same time it’s below the map, which makes a lot of mechanics very buggy(dehaka Q, following player abilities(pyroblast, frost blast, etc)
At this point it’s just the worse version of Hanamura temple.

Minky UwU where’s Frogsaron? I want the 3 of us to play butterflies

I always loved that map too.
But scrubs can’t play it well.
I also liked the old Garden of Terror map better - with bosses and seeds

OMG! Yessssss!!!

I’ve only been playing the game hardcore for a year now, and Haunted Mines was before my times. I hear stories, and would love for it to make a comeback!

It was my favorite map and are our only chance for another map, which I would like more than any character. Even a DPS mage healer.

My dps mage healer was rejected by the community so you might as well hope for a new map

Its a QA/coding nightmare, becuase of all the spell/summon interactions and special cases you have to do for 80+ heroes. Combine that with, the correct strategy on the map being NEVER DO THE OBJECTIVE, punish the team doing the objective and push lanes and you win makes it a bad map. The mines are closed thank goodness.
