My bad then, I thought Ragnaros is the hero they have most difficulty making skins for (due to his animated movement and Molten Core requiring massive modeling effort).

You shouldn’t quote something they said 2 years ago since things changed since then.

Here’s the deal. This is something that we want to do, but it’s not a simple task.

Arthas is one of our older models and our development pipeline has evolved a lot since his release. This means that changing his model would also require updates to both his underlying rig and animations. Which also means we have to consider how those changes might affect his VFX, which could have implications for his UI, ability Icons and so on. Not to mention that if we’re even going to consider all that work we would want to include design in the process because maybe they want to take the opportunity to do a rework? As you can see, the workload can quickly escalate.

So the bottom line is that yes, we would like to update the Arthas model, but we don’t currently have and plans do so and likely won’t be able to consider it for a little while longer. Updating old assets will directly take away from creating new ones, so we have to balance our priorities. However, I can promise that we have a lot of really cool stuff in the pipe that we can’t wait to share with you!

but in the past 2 years we had pretty enough much effort new heroes added to the game why cant they simply change details of a model that already exists… they can do it multiple times via updates…

Well, this is false information, since all they said was they were talking about what they want to include in 2021 calendar for hots and rag/arthas came into the conversation, but it was not a “we are going to work on them”. It was more of a “maybe we could work on them” “yeah maybe, let’s think about it”.

Well, the developer said they’re planning it for 2021.

“We are currently in the planning stage for 2021 and there a strong desire to get the remodel in your hands.”

“When we release the remodel I think it would be good to have a variation without his helmet on”

But I have no idea how far “planning stage” goes.

so they want to do it but have no plans. and they seem to be too busy with creating incredible new heroes . what do you guys think . are you so excited about their new Hero ideas …

my solution is that they can do it slowly over time . for start , they can raise his height a little bit and also reduce the size of his sword . then there’ll be more ideas about his rework .

Planning stage means they are discussing what they will includo in their schedule for 2021. That’s it. Like they said, they have a strong desire to make a new model for him, but that’s just it, a strong desire.

Take this as “do we go for it, is it viable or not?”. So they haven’t even started doing it.

Yes, we’re excited to hear about a new hero, especially since releases are way slower now (2-4 heroes/year). If with all their effort they can only release 2-4 heroes/year, they definitely can’t spend their time doing other things.

that’s quite unbelievable . why should they waste their time with creating new heroes which bring nothing while they can invest something that is way more creative ? each time Blizzard tried something “new” it went one step backward . look at how many people were excited about new warcraft 3. I personally was going to choose it as my new main game but after release and reading criticizes I didnt even try it .

First things first, what does the failure of reforged has anything to do with hots? They are not even the same devs/team. It makes no sense to compare them.

Second, I know you want a new Arthas model, but new heroes are really important for the game. New heroes and new content is what make people engaged and what attracts new players as well. Reworking stuff doesn’t really have an impact in the game except when it is balance changes (talent tree rework).

While you’d like that, most people like a finished work than a half work. Half work is 99% of the time bad and easily flamed by players.
