Seriously, I’m really curious if there can be a function to avoid teaming up with certain players. It’s really painful to finally finish a game with a troll, queueing for 10 mins, only to see him sill in your next game, and same side. When you designed a so heavy teamwork based game, you should allow your player to at least avoid trolls that will ruin their experience.
okay first of all silver is a perfectly acceptable rank to be in and as I can’t seem to get any higher than silver 2 I’m certain that silver is hardly a bad thing to be in
and as for your predicament I believe you both waited for each other to go in a match
a good way to avoid this is to start a whisper with them but not actually talk so you can stalk- I mean see if they’re in a game yet
I take no credit for the overmentioned idea
and lastly I’m afraid as long as multiplayer pvp exists there will always be a troll to avoid one is like asking for a cure for an un-curable disease
there will always be a troll, even when you least expect it
your best bet is to either suck it up buttercup and play how you want and actually have fun or do the mentioned idea.
all the while remember not to be a troll yourself. (No I’m not implying anything put your pitch fork away)
Yeah all ranks are fine. I’m only mocking him because he try to use silver as an insult, which leave me the impression that he’s gold at most, yet he try to bluff and got caught. If anyone has issue with silver, it’s the troll not me. (Yes, please read the chat again if that’s not apparent.)
The beauty of allowing players to avoid certain players is, if one players is “ignored” by all players around the same level, it’s like a suspension yet just better (currently there seems only a robot language filter, which is lazy, and really irresponsible). Or people with too different mind flow will be distinguished, and ended up matching up with similar thoughts. It’s like marriage/dating, sometimes it’s not anyone’s fault, but it’s torturing to force a broken couple to go back together again to have another try that will likely fail.
yeah I know. I was just being offended in an offended way
I was with your thought process
and then you deviated and I’m now going to forever think you’re trying to turn the game into a IRL dating site.
my official response
it would bring an elongated version of the smurfing problem that the game has yes they’d get long queue time and they may quit but eventually they’d put 2 and 2 together and start again
you also run the risk of people using it to become “good” and falsely blocking players and IF it’s base on players of your skill level i.e. they block everyone on their skill level, you then run the risk of “pro’s” being matched against and with noobs. smurfing but with less steps… or more steps
these players can also get round the “stack” problem by blocking everyone but their friends and then not only smurfing but partying up without partying up.
the victims then can’t complain about stacks or Smurfs because the level of the account is apparent, and it would show they’re not partied up.
they can then abuse the matchmaking algorithm making it an almost 100 percent guarantee they’d be in the same team since they try to match them with players of the same skill level before reaching out to other skill groups.
the matchmaking would be to blame and more players would leave
(I tried to not deviate since large paragraphs make eyes hurt)
then there’d be no point at all
I for one have a few that I know I’d rather play with a bot then be put with and to choose just one? I might as well just role the dice
now if there were like an anti-favourite system in place then I could see this working
Yeah I agree a matching up system would work best in such situation.
Meanwhile, allowing you to avoid one is like queueing with one friend, it doesn’t help to avoid all trolls, but reduce the chance compared with current all random.
Id be happy to work for you as a teammate who doesn’t troll.
I have competive hots experience
I play mostly healers, mages, and some auto attackers. I can also play the soaking role.
I still love to play this game and Generally have a very positive attitude.
Can provide some coaching if requested.
Can bring some of my friends to fill party slots and further reduce the chances of trolls.
I am available most days and can Generally play pretty late in to the night. Please contact me so we can negotiate the price and find something that works for you. I hope you consider my services and even if you don’t, I hope you have a nice day!
I’m offering some constructive idea to help this game last a little longer. You might think your joke is funny but truth is game is dying and your joke is actually the reality for most players. Except for switching to the offlane game part, there are competitive games doing better in this, even dota2 is improving it’s matching system now.
Even DOTA 2 is not immune to trolls, no matter how good their MM becomes.
I was there. I stopped playing because of the playerbase. I know that there is no way to eliminate trolls/griefers. The only way is for this game to NOT be competitive. I honestly think the majority of the Blizz playerbase across all their games, attract players of the aggressive and competitive nature. I could be completely wrong here, but this is the vibe I got from years of playing with them.
You weren’t really offering to improve the game. You were complaining and you would pay for some feature to not run into trolls.
The “idea” you offered only reduces players for you to find and increase queue times. If everyone did this, you would never find games.
Whether you think my comment was a joke or not, the truth is that you can’t avoid trolls in online multiplayer games.
Yeah I’m complaining about a shortage of the game yet I’m offering an idea to improve. I don’t mind double queueing time if it’s what takes to avoid one or two players on my side.
This will improve the player experience and also to raise some income for a game no one is paying anymore, that’s how to help a game last longer.
And there is a extend of trolling, allowing players to avoid just the worst one is better than nothing.
If you understand the basic of math or algorithm, you’ll see allowing avoid one function won’t really improve waiting time by much, in fact, for same 10 men, it’s very possible to arrange two teams that meet everyone’s “avoid one” requirement, unless more than 6 players try to dodge same one troll, in which case you just need to wait for one more player. Double time is an overestimating already, unless there really is just 10 players left on the server.
You let the players decide by themselves.
Each one player will be allowed to avoid one ID to appear on his team. Practically you only need to have at most 11 players to arrange a 5v5 match. If everyone is setting the same ID, then you know no one want to play with him. (I think overwatch had a similar mechanism already, not sure about ow2)
It doesn’t necessarily need to be a troll for sure, maybe just play style not fit (like the broken couple example I mentioned above, not anyone’s fault really).
You can already kinda do that tho. just open a whisper with them (dont need to say anything) and watch them so you dont get in to the same game together.
but paying for the ability to not match with just 1 person? thats suck a tame solution, i dont think it would do anything.
