Well whenever a new event comes up with a skin I like I usually try to save up shards before hand. I have over 100k gold so my strategy is that when I get lootboxes just keep re-rolling until I get duplicates of high value so I can get the most shards.

I have 5k shards but want to save them for lunar skins :3 or xmas skins, or nexomania re-release as missed the best Lunara skin in the game :3

Why would anyone waste money on lot boxes? I haven’t spent money on this scam system since it was introduced in HotS 2.0

I opened about 30-35 boxes from heroes I had gotten close to level and waited + event ones and re-rolled at least half of them (probably more, hard to recall), a few re-rolled twice. Only got three legendary drops total. One was a dupe, one was a Butcher skin I care very little about, and one was the Alterac dwarf announcer I will never use so far. I may not have bought them but I feel your pain on the rate.

It’s just so completely random.

Opened several chests during the last Lunar event and got a legendary mount and I think one of the epic skins.

Opened several during Nexomania and got zero event skins.

Opened less than 20 (through hero levels and event quests) this year and just got one of the Alex skins today. Bit shocked since I’ve been getting mostly portraits and sprays for the events lately.

No re-rolls because I want to spend my gold on the mounts (and it looks like announcers now too).

Win some lose some with RNG rewards. At this point I don’t even stage my heroes anymore. I burn through as many as I can before events to have a healthy shard count for getting any must-haves that are event locked.

I got the purple one just at random, dont know if was the 20 or more box, but got her.
If somebody want the set so badly, is better buying the gems dirrectly than trying to buy the lootboxes to get her at random.

That is by design. The whole thing is like a casino… just like all of blizzard’s games.

Why didn’t you just directly buy the skin instead? I mean, the bundle with all 3 tints costs as much gems as only 8 lootboxes…

I actually got the Alex skin but the skin I wanted was Whitemane! So far I have gotten Alex and Maiev. But I did notice that I’ve received less skins this year, even the rare quality ones, as compared to last year where I got mostly everything purely from lootboxes.

Though luck, that is why people dislike lootboxes, because of the random contents.

I must say I have been fortunate to get a whitemane and zarya eventskin though <3

Why didn’t you spend gems on the skin if you wanted that?
skin bundle = 1200 gems < 75 loot boxes = ~6000 gems
