Title. Seriously it is getting ridiculous that nearly every single random match there is a bot or an afk player or both and I see the same ones multiple times after reporting them for weeks! Why is nothing being done to remove them from the game?!
Even if some of them get banned, there is a constant new influx of players playing over WiFi, on ancient systems unfit for gaming (or very old laptops), players on very poor quality connections etc.
There is little Blizzard can do to make those people stop playing.
Your best (and probably only) bet to get rid of as many of those players as possible is playing Storm League, then ranking up as high as you can. Constant disconnectors don’t survive long above middle ranks.
Hey I play on WiFi 20 char
Blizzard should do the only thing that will help reduce AFKs. If someone drops from a match right at start and never moved out of the base, he should get a game suspension for 1-2 days. After that, if it happens again, it will be doubled and doubled and doubled.
Someone dropping in game due to bad connection is one thing. But in nearly all of my matches these days there are people sitting in spawn at the start of the match no moving at all! The 2 minutes is also way too long. It should be like 30s. Being 4 players for 2 minutes early game often means you already lost soak. Until you get a bot more time passes and then you are doomed anyway.
So: reduce the time at start of the match to 30s. If someone does not move at all, suspend his account. Leaver’s matches do nothing to prevent those players from afking in base at the start of the match.
I dislike afk’s/disconnectors as much as the next person, but that simply sounds too harsh.
Legitimate disconnects can happen for a variety of reasons even to people who rarely or never drop out of the game. Even at the start.
A 1 hour cooldown period after a game if it happens twice in a row, sure, but 2 entire days? Sounds draconian.
Though if you mean the player never made any attempt to reconnect and dropped right at the start, I could see it fair to apply some kind of penalty (like a few hours of cooldown before being able to queue for a Ranked game again)
Honestly I am kind of with Evermore on this; HOWEVER, it should not be applied to a disconnect issue. Only from a report by teammates about a bot or blatantly AFK person. Without any real consequences there is nothing to stop people from going AFK or using a bot program.
I’m with Nevermore, it should be applied to everyone who disconnects no matter the reason but it history doesn’t lie, Blizzard won’t do anything because they don’t care. They would’ve done something in these three years but they haven’t.
looks at my CenturyLink internet
Well, I’d be screwed.

Blizzard doesn’t care because they don’t ban whoever randomly disconnects for any reason? Are u on drugs?
It sucks to get those people on the team but let’s not pretend 99.999% of us have not gotten a dc at some point in our lives. A ban for that is a laughable solution…
People in hots, or humanity in general, have been known to file false reports so that’s kind of an unfair solution too.
And most bot accusations are pure bs, people use that word when they don’t like how someone is playing repetitively. A Raynor who only lanes all game may suck at the game but it still isn’t a bot.
Usually I play with A.I. Teammates vs. the A.I. on Adept or Veteran difficulty. Elite can overwhelm me when I play a hero I’m not familiar with. But lately I’ve been playing a lot more Co-Op vs. A.I. on Beginner or Recruit difficulty. Just in case there are new players and I want to help them win games.
This happened 25 minutes ago as I was taking a break from playing the new Diablo 2 ladder season. I was playing Cassia and there was a Rehgar on my team that didn’t move the entire game! He was just there at the starting point. The game didn’t say he dropped and I pinged him to follow me and I couldn’t.
It was so disheartening. Was that Rehgar a bot or leecher? So my team had to play 4 vs. 5 on the Cursed Hollow battleground. Luckily I played exceptionally well on Cassia and there was a Hanzo on my team that was playing lights out. So we won the match with no problem. I also won the MVP to my surprise. I can’t really complain with the end results but that Rehgar was such a drag. I don’t like that dead weight! I refused to lose though.
They put them in leaver que so cant say they dont care.
Also reporting afk players wll get them punished in the end so no.
Game after game with afk and bots today.
Had nova bot today that basically runs from building to building, sometimes fires Q at minion and then backs to base.
Nah this happens in diamond all the time still. Trolling and afking and DCs still are a huge problem.
You have to be patient, 5G will fix the issue.
I don’t think it should be that extreme, but what I would like to see is when a teammate or enemy player drops without moving from the home base, my Ranked point loss will be decreased and I won’t lose as much.
