Blizzard/HotS developers should be ashamed of themselves

God created illegal bots in Hots to satisfy his shareholders, or something like that.

PLOT TWIST: The shareholders are the bots

Provided that this is a labor-intensive and costly process.

Even if making bots was cheap, the logic behind doing so doesn’t add up. Making bots wouldn’t have made the merger with MS, more attractive. MS would have been well aware that Hots is a shelved title, and and old title at that.

Sometimes the explanation is the obvious one, and all of Blizz’s inaction and actions suggest they rarely think about Hots, let alone would have any motive to create Bots to fool/placate the playerbase or Microsoft.

Just want to tell you OP, that everything you said is valid. Maybe your complaints are a bit much - it is a free game, after all, but don’t let these people gaslight you. The stacks vs solos is a very real problem and all you have to do to realize is just to play QM. The game is, indeed, laggier and more CPU intensive than you would expect. It uses the old, single core, deterministic lockstep SC2 engine and I get lower temps in modern, full blown RTS with many more units than I do playing HotS. The game is also less responsive than other MOBAs because deterministic lockstep model is held back by the laggiest player that is still considered to be connected to the live match. To smooth things out, they introduce an input delay so that higher latency players within acceptable range go unnoticed. It’s a fine model for RTS, but not so fine for MOBAs.

Regarding the latency, I read that enabling “low latency mode” in the Nvidia driver options helpeth, but it taketh up processor resources.

Gaslightning is done by providing false information.

Might help if you make a distinction between all disagreement, and what information people are actually responding toward from the OP.

Part of the unspoken context here stems from dev conferences where they discuss the issues of player perception vs actual game problems. OP likely hasn’t put in any thought on why some things are allowed, or rather, implemented as they are, and they aren’t here to find out.

People that are drawing bad and abrasive conclusions from limited sources but they’re the ones that “gaslit” themselves into this sort of conduct. They fixate on simple to blame “problems”, neglect most anything else, and think they’re better of for continuing in that sort of ignorance.

When a game has the plug pulled on it hard, stuff is going to have problems, not get fixed, or need people to ‘gaslight’ strawmen and scrapgoats.

Useless information without knowing how it plays out in each skill tier and each game mode.

Stop repeating this tired line. It didn’t work when the game was alive, its certainly not going to work when the game is dead.

How it plays out is that they win half their games.

Not sure what you mean by “it didn’t work”. They’re numbers. they don’t work or not work. They’re just what they are.

I’m really glad you’re not in charge of any important decisions in society.

Who says I’m not?

All your statments are very vague.

I’m done getting into the weeds with people about this game. Feels like these forums are stuck in 2016. Why participate in this charade?

You getting upset about facts not reconciling with your own personal system of belief that something is unfair is your cross to bare. No one else is obligated to buy into your fantasy world or change reality to make yourself feel better about being oppressed by a system that is largely fine for most groups.

Not sorry to see you go.

It’s clear you’re not a critical thinker. Delusional, even – the kind of matchmaking this game uses is one of the most high-profile complaints in modern multiplayer games. Luckily you’re contained here and I don’t have to read stuff like this on the DotA forums.

Never said I was leaving. It’s nice to see you try, but I think in this case “swinging up to hit me in the knees” is an appropriate saying.

Why indeed. You’ve already made more than one send-off, and yet you keep coming around pretending you’ve got something better going on.

Given the tripe you delude yourself on before, it seems like things are worse for you if you’re coming back around here to prattle the same things as if you were stuck in 2016. My condolences.

no point bothering with the commune, you’ve seen it yourself

I’ll bite.

I keep saying this pretty much in every thread that discusses the whole 5 man fiasco which agrees with a lot of the points that they win more and even shared my experience with them.

I mean… they really win more lmao, this is like none debatable, play any game having a group over anything with Discord communication and shot calls are easily big advantage than some randoms and separated groups playing alone.

The only thing left is actually communicating with each other, HotS did a big mistake couple of years ago which was also a fault of the community to overzealous that there’s chat police ready to silence you, filled with bad code from the automated report system and you have a community that is scared to use the chat entirely, this results in impacting win rates further more.

I use team chat every single game to shot call pointers with strangers, no toxicity and just a simple lines like “play passive” or “engage”, questions of what they want to pick and that’s it, and surprisingly you can get very along with it because people will start to get ideas what everyone is doing and what everyone is planning, this applies to the ping system in the game too.

So there’s communication the question comes is if people want to use it? And that’s extremely theoretical of a lot of reasons I will not go in, but for now let’s pretend its a coin flip (without VC, apparently its a NA thing, EU voice chat dead).

So in a nutshell, yes you win less and you win more depending on communicating.

Now comes the part about stacking and just the most general abuse side part is a 5man and that is that it comes from what they picked and the general rank of the team’s MMR, this has a massive gap.

I like to browse what I face to know what I was up against and surprisingly there’s a massive group of gold and platinum players and shows off from the skill that was showcased in this, in those I was playing either solo, duo or trio mostly so I was communicating with randoms or a 2nd group against a team with a larger group in those cases.

In general 5 man becomes more dangerous the more high ranked they are and downright impossible to compete against people who play this like the next esport game in a QM.

So when I face actual 5 man of high diamonds it is more competitive more dangerous and overall on their side however if you play the same strategies that counter their coordinated games it actually becomes a 50/50, or close enough 50/50 which what most games aim to anyways.

The problem with these 5 stacks is that they win more because match maker cannot find people of their similar skill meaning people all across the rainbow rank would have to face them, and this is where the problem lies, a skill issue problem but also a match maker problem.

The best players represent a very minor % and finding of their equal skill would take very long time making it difficult in the long run and because we are a dying population thanks to a company who respect their player base and their employees, its only a downward spiral from here when it comes to quality matches.

I mean, I literally had a very low ranked lobby yesterday in my 3 stack, its NOT fun, the average ranking in this was very messy because of lack of players that it really shows what happened in those games too, the balance? One master MMR player (Lunara) on the enemy team.

So stacking as a whole does win more, but the stacking comes from abusive when go deeper.

roll drums

Welcome to the deep well of… How to win every game using hivemind coordination.

Did you know you have 100% win when:

  • Aba on team
  • 3 bruisers 1 DPS
  • And its when the population is at lowest?

Truly a chaotic experience of actual abuse, 100% no healers or tank, and the bruiser can play as a tank, divide and conquer the likely weakest player repeat this process, win every game with no contesting? Result? 98% win rate (You are in luck! They upload every replay, most of them at least).

But this isn’t really a hots tide thing its more like people farming wins out of hours where literally no one plays, meaning no one in their MMR area is playing so you end up with a stomp after stomp as a result.

In this example EU is very empty from the morning 11 PM until 12 PM (+3 GMT time), while anything from afternoon the population increases and games slightly stabilize, so this is the peak of 5 stack abuse.

Anything outside this still has the same 5 stacks roaming people but more tolerable and actually a rather sane composition that isn’t just I’m picking whatever to make the QM parameters impossible, surprisingly still in their favor because communication advantage, remember, they queued up this comp themselves, they know what they are doing.

big tl;dr

stacking wins more guys (shocking) but its all isolated to 2 groups of “abusing” and “not abusing” the game to capitalize on a lot of things.

One thing I know is LATAM is a complete nightmare that has been like that 3-4 years for now, EU is just getting there slowly as the population degrades, afterwards no one left to play except themselves and the game is further homogenized as they are forced to play against none-low ranked people.

It’s nice to see we agree. I’ll add that the group that’s not abusing doesn’t really exist when there isn’t a new stream of players and the remaining player base has highly honed their skills. All that remains is the abusing group.
