Like in the title written, mass flagging of posts have taken over the whole forum.
It is dangerous for frequent posters to write any Topic without a stupid moron with several 1 Day Accounts flags posts and creating a threat to the whole Blizzard.net ID.
If my ID gets banned through this massive problem, everything I have achieved in several Blizzard games is lost.
Please consider to make the following requirements mandatory for creating a new account:
the use of a mobile phone with the Authenticator installed for the two factor authorization (but also as a control, that only a real mobile phone Number is connected with the account)
Don’t allow the creation of several accounts under the same IP-Adress. It is by far no security feature but an obstruction to close the Internet connection and open a new one to gain another IP-Adress from the ISP.
Don’t allow accounts to flag any posts without reaching Trust level 3.
I hope you will take some of my ideas into consideration or otherwise this forum will die out sooner or later.
By all respect, it is ridiculous that it isn’t allowed to post pictures without TL3 but it’s very easy to create new accounts to mass flag posts which leads to ID Penalizations that menace achievements of years of playing Blizzard Title!
You can always post your answer (like here) but it shouldn’t work to flag posts of other forum writers without knowing the simplest rules of interaction
Or just trust lvl 2 as minimum. That would make sure you need to be a regular poster to be allowed to flag toxic posts.
I agree the mass flagging is a problem and people with several 0 post accounts can just easy abuse this. So rising the req to lvl 2 trust lvl would make it harder for them.
The game itself even has a req that you need to be account lvl 5 to whisper people ingame so changing this should not be hard for them to do.
Id rather have tl2 be the level that lets you report sense its so hard to get that high and how easy it is to have it taken away. That being said i absolutely agree tho, reporting needs to be locked behind something.
I also wanna say that the user im sure yall are most upset with has a tl3 account in their arsenal. Its posted pictures before.
In my experience (I’ve been false flagged by crazies before) the moderators actually review posts when they’re flagged and in my case, reversed the flag status because it was overtly abused.
Worst part is it was a well known and apparently respected GM who did that.
It’s not just new accounts, it’s just terrible humans being terrible and ragey/trolley.
Not possible in many regions, also not supported on many phones. Believe it or not, non-smart phones do still exist!
Unfairly affects houses of multiple occupancy and ISPs operating carrier grade NATs. An IP address does not uniquely identify a single person.
Something along those lines would be the actual solution to the problem. Requiring 100 posts or even just 10 posts before flagging would be enough to prevent the described problem, if it exists.
It is important that people have easy access to flagging posts because that acts as the report functionality for the forum (it replaced the old report system). Without being able to use it, new users could be abused and unable to “report” their abusers which is rather one-sided and unfair.
No it’s not enough, see the quotations above. With my last point in the OP it would need TL2 (or 3) on every account to mass flag posts. To get Trust level 2 on one account, takes some time. To get it on several accounts, it takes huge effort.
Trust level shouldn’t even be a thing. Just because someone was well behaved at one point doesn’t mean they’re always going to be well behaved - and each comment/report should be taken based on it’s merit, not the reputation of a person who might not even be using that account anymore - and has passed it off to someone else.
Hell, I was a pos at one point with severe emotional issues. Guess what? Once I got rid of the people in my life causing those problems, I stabilized and now am fairly reasonable (or so I tell myself lol) and actively engage on a deeper level without resorting to insults or whatever as an example on the inverse.
The devs and mods just seem to be waiting for this forum to finish dying. They’ve done nothing to try to encourage participation or make this platform more user-friendly for the past 2+ years.
On the contrary, it actually seems like they’re trying to help it along to its grave by implementing mechanics and policies that actively discourage participation. The Like limit, half-year TL3 restrictions, arbitrary and unjustifiable punishments, etc. all make this forum a less pleasant environment and actively drive people away.
People complain about the quality of the posts on this forum dropping in recent years, but that’s what happens when you alienate your long-time regulars. The only people left are increasingly the whiny and/or toxic types.
Same thing like ingame. Play a game with a 4 stack on your team that brawl the whole time in mid lane and when you as a healer then start to soak, they ping you like crazy, flame you and ultimately you end up with 4 reports. And if that happens more than once in a short time, you are done.
I think Blizzard is the only game company that puts more effort into their report, silence, suspense and ban system than into their actual game development…
Trust level 3 is excessive, level 2 is generaly more than enough for basic trust.
Just like they should make bumping of threads impossible for new accounts aswel (level 2 should be able to bump it).
TL3 is excessive to reach, since you dont need to be tl3 to have most basic knowledge on the forums here. TL2 indicates a person that is active enough on these forums. And since it does have a post requirement, is enough to avoid abuse.
