"I just noticed there are currently a few jobs up for our beloved game on the hiring pages at Blizzard. See first 4 entries at https://careers.blizzard.com/global/en/search-results?keywords=heroes%20of%20the%20storm

I know there’s been a lot of concern since the December 2018 announcement that we only ever hear of staff leaving the team and no signs of new additions so it’s reassuring to see recruitment activity in July 2020. Long live HoTS! "

The 4 entries are:

  • Senior Software Engineer, Gameplay - Classic
  • Software Engineer, Reliability
  • Senior Software Engineer, Reliability
  • Senior Technical Artist, Pipeline

I’m just very surprised and happy to see this. What are your thoughts?

Glad to see it. I was afraid they would keep hiring interns. :rip: ‘evolved’ ai

The requirements for senior seem pretty light, 2 years ?

My thoughts are this. Hate me, flame me, pin me to the cross. I don’t care.

If you’re going to bother hosting the forums, use them and use them well and frequently. Otherwise, do what Riot did and just take them down and remove the illusion that communication happens outside Reddit.

With that out of the way,
HE-YULL, IT’S AH-BOUT DAYUHM TIME.
Blackthorne in 2020 baby! Here we come!

Does this mean they have increased revenue? If so then this might be great news for the game.

Interesting news. I always take these type of things with caution but I admit was not expecting this whatsoever.

Would be really happy if the game got more focused on in the future.

That doesn’t mean they’re expanding the team, but rather just maintaining current numbers as their employees ragequit a career that require them to support a dead game.

OK, if that’s what you think.

not a surprise?

The team was never cut to “nothing” like some people seemed to think (And the communication around it poorly communicated).

QA went from 30-some people (well, I got 30+ people from early on after the cut. it may have been 40+ before) to 15-20 people.

That is still large team.

it wouldn’t shock me if this is replacing people moving to other companies. It also wouldn’t shock me if they are adding due to increased revenue/players in part due to covid. Could also just be that they’re bringing the team up slightly.

2020 is bad year, yes.
But not for HOTS. Finally, something good.
I wonder how it will affect us. More frequent updates? Perhaps.

The current team either quit resigned or got out into more terrible games

At last they are pouring more financial resources into this game.

Nobody who loves the game can see anything negative in this…

Hope this is a bigger shift by Activision money handlers and strategists, that they are willing to bet on this game becoming more profitable in the long term. That equals more heroes, more features, better matchmaking, and hopefully more players.

THis is honestly more evidence to what I suggested a while back when we all did our placements and a lot of people noticed they were lower,
More people are playing so stats are getting scewed downwards a bit as there’s more to balance with

If this is the case then heck to the yes

You are alone with that just so you know it. But yet someone like you comes and make a comment on a forum that belong to a game you call garbage.

Such irony.

matchmaking is inherently a serial process.

adding more help/developers/etc for the game is unlikely to change the matchmaking on the blizzard side.

Playerbase numbers can enable blizzard to change matchmaking more.

I know, I hope them being willing to spend hundreds of thousands on new employee salaries would also mean they are willing to advertise the game.

That’s ultimately the only thing that will bring new players to a 5 year old moba. Not many new players are going to install, if they don’t even know HotS exists…

If Activision wants money from this game, they must develop it.
I hope they will, HOTS is lovely game.
