What ever happened to: “Don’t you guys have phones?” I thought blizzard wanted to make easy money off the mobile market, but they didn’t even bother to make a Blizzard Auto Chess game? Seems like a big oversight.

Are you asking why they haven’t quickly jumped on the band wagon of a popular mode that’s happening?

Examples where they have:

  • HOTS - Failed?
  • Black ops 4 with battle royal mode - Failed?

All jokes aside what is the appeal of this Auto chess? It keep popping up and I don’t get it.

they will do it…but probably again 2 years too late when theres better options out there and the hype is over…just blizz things

Pretty much this. Valve beat them to hots, and they beat them to auto chess. Honestly, I feel auto chess is stupid.

so there are currently 3 autochess games out (or almost), one from Valve, one from Riot, one from the original creators.

The appeal of Auto-Chess is similar to Hearthstone, its a “Card-like” strategy game. But I think that it has the potential for more skill than a strict card game due to the nature of its design. In general, it’s an up and coming, very hype genre and it is a huge misplay for blizzard not to create one based on the Blizzard universes (ie HOTS board game).

Auto-chess games are just cool “pseudo” side games. I understand that there’s hype around the genre at the moment but it will pass. That’s my opinion. Personally I don’t find them interesting. I would rather play classic chess.

EDIT: To clarify, I played 2 games of TFT and I was BORED TO DEATH. But people are in the bandwagon right now cus it’s Riot Games, obviously. Gotta chase that fresh and secure eSports money in the future. But holy f, game itself is boring.

tbh I would not be suprised to see blizzard auto chess next blizzcon or the one after, considering that auto chess games are rather easy to make and many useable assets like models or animation are already created.

I think they learned their lesson with hots to react faster to trends. Blizzard autochess is totally possible imo.

I would like to add that in Underlords the characters looks so much like WC3 characters, but aren’t truly them and it annoys me. Blizzard make a clone soon so we can detect nuclear launches!

Black Ops 4 is Activision, who will likely move in on the Auto Chess genre.

Blizzard likely WON’T move in on the Auto Chess genre for another 5 years, by which point it’ll likely be too late.

Or they’ll add it in as a minigame in WoW off in some remote location, like the Plants vs. Zombies game south of the Dalaran Crater.

Nazjatar is full of minigame puzzles. Wouldn’t be surprised to see an auto chess variant pop up in 8.2.5 or 8.3.

I mean id say auto-chess is at least if not more complex than hearthstone (which is a multi million dollar game for blizzard). I wouldn’t simply call it a mini game. In the original auto-chess, a single match takes 40+ minutes.

From my experience so far. If you don’t like quick match you want like TFT.
It requires a bit of luck (getting the right heroes same as QM)… But also requires you to know how to use those heroes when u get them (like QM)

Technically the Starcraft community made an Auto-chess styled game long before the current Auto-Chess trend that’s going on.

They should jump on It, only due to the fact I know these characters, I don’t know DOTA or LoL characters so It’s not as much fun. Auto Chess Is a fun pick up put down game. Blizzard would be silly not to make one.

If they don’t, I hope Rick and Morty make a auto chess. /shrug

Auto-chess.
The worst from CCGs and Mobas combined with pretty much nothing from Chess except the board.
Won two games in it, then uninstalled because it’s just not fun to me.
The randomness and inability to really react to ALL of your opponents makes it like playing a FFA in Starcraft. It can be enjoyed on rare occasion, but few people want to stick with it.

If it didn’t force you to constantly pay attention for like 20+ minutes, while not having any control over what is going on except for 1-4 actions every ~30 seconds.
Why not play a game where you can do things every second like Heroes, or ones where you have full control like in Chess

I downloaded auto chess on my phone. It’s a very good game to help you fall asleep while playing.

I would fall asleep to any blizzard iteration of auto chess anytime.
