I can play butcher pretty well and engage in fights pretty well but when players just blames butcher for not getting his stacks and lose the game, it’s sad they just pick a random, easy target to pick on. It’s stupid and look at WHY butcher isn’t getting fed.
1 - Butcher is not a guaranteed win if he’s at full stacks (from personal primary data collected from my own games, he has a 80%+ chance to win the game at full stacks).
2 - You got to understand butcher isn’t a tank when at full stacks either, he can still be easily killed, stop relying on him to engage first. Him charging into a 5 man will NOT go down well. Maybe @ 20 when he picks the lamb talent and silences everyone.
3 - When you criticise a butcher not having full stacks, it’s NOT necessarily the players fault, early game it’s pretty much 4 vs 5 and butcher will charge in when he’s ready.
4 - Butcher NEEDS BACKUP, even with murky, BACK UP BUTCHER, if he charges at x player, target X player.
I am amazed at the players that keeps constantly blaming butcher for not getting stacks. Butcher cannot 1 on 1 heroes early game, he can’t even 1 on 1 murky as the little thing bubbles and runs away. Even worse when the other team is all ranged, he will get kited quite easily.
Support butcher and you will reap the benefits later on the game.
My problem with heroes like hammer, ktz, butcher, and gaz to a lesser extent is that they require teams built around them. Just give objective and let me splitpush. Just protect me. Just dive when i want you to. There are 4 other players in the game. None of us qued to be your servant. Also butcher players tend to lock when it suits them rather than when it suits the team.
Good butcher players on the other hand do dive with tank rather than before him. Theyll lock last and uncountered. In these cases the loss is on team and not just them.
Butcher requires teamwork. Just one more reason why he will never be good in public games. Most teammates you get are potatoes and will expect you to charge in first (even at full stacks, this is a really bad idea).
If you don’t, they say you are “doing nothing”. If you do, you will most likely die, and they say “you’re feeding”.
It’s not people expect it on their own, but rather there are players out there, who plays him like a damn frontliner. So ofc people tend to expect that…
Yeah I had a game not long ago where everyone was complaining at our teammate Butchers damage and stacks. I actually defended him because whilst his damage was kinda low, it was impactful. He went only for targets that lead to kills and it worked.
Because too many expect Butcher to carry them all. They think just because they have Butcher on the team its instant win.
But when they then lose the game thet ofc blames him for the lose and start saying gg 0 meat Butcher after 10 min reported when none of them ever gave him the support he needs to get meat in the first place.
Good i got chat turned off now so i dont have to spend time arguing with someone who keep mocking me for having low meat stacks when he is a feeder himself.
Why do people say that Butcher requires teamwork as if other heroes don’t require teamwork? I mean it’s a team game so every team with better teamwork will win against a team with poor teamwork.
Just play safe (don’t risk dying) until you got the meat-quest done. You don’t need to roam around and desperately look for kills. In high MMR games players will not die that often so most of the fresh meat comes from minions…
In other words, Butcher in low MMR QM can be fun because people die left and right so you will get a lot of extra meat from players.
Also it’s very common for bad players in team games to blame everything on their random teammates. Some heroes make better scapegoats than others but either way we should not care what those scapegoating players are saying. Seek for the truth and let them say their stupid things

im a humble lvl +90 butcher and i can relate with all this reddit post, i still like playing butch despite the fact is one of the worst melee assassins in hots and one of the hardest to play and climb, even murky or alarak is stronger than him in other ways, but i still playing him because is fun and easy once u know how to play him, and yea the worst enemy from the butcher is his allies, butcher is so team dependet that if he has bad allies who doesnt feed him, and dont understand how to butcher, is a nighmare when they blame you because u dont have high hero dmg as they think butcher can do without getting stacked
A lot of heroes do well on their own without help from the team, but Butcher definitely isn’t one of them. Or Kerrigan, now that I think of it. They both need follow-up.
I love Murky in solo que, because I can win games even if the team never helps (he can also kill a surprising number of heroes in 1v1, even his so called counter Butcher), at least until Platinum.
I know, I know… HotS is supposed to be about teamwork and all that but the reality is most people in solo q just don’t help. So it helps to be self reliant if you wanna rank up without a premade
Tbh, I hate playing butcher. I just really hate the dogma of half heroes until they become full heroes.
The only time this isn’t annoying is when its someone who can actually is their CC well and not die at dumb intervals, but damn butcher is worst offender at this, hate playing the carry game.
His late game isn’t even that much stronger compared to other heroes. Leoric 20 literally wins games and it’s activation is not delayed as much as butcher ult. Leoric also doesn’t suck absolute garbage until 200 meat. He’s actually a real hero even early game with acceptable waveclear
