Welp, probably for mouthing off in General Chat, sure I can make an alt, but if Blizzard bans you for “multiple violations of the Terms of Service” then they should send an email explaining why to your email, as is stated in the message that appears when authenticating. (Yes, I’ve checked spam, and double checked the registered email address)
Sure I could make a new account but given the direction of the game and the downsizing of the development team perhaps this is for the best.
GG WP, dealing with wildly varied skill levels even in Storm League was getting on the last of my nerves either way.

I got a kid who was saying “have fun in bronze” hurr durr.
the kid is bronze 2 im stuck in silver 4 cause of trash like him. your banned and it sounds like you are like me dealing with people like him and he isn’t.
great idea blizzard seems legit.
as for the email you cant appeal anything if they don’t give you information you can only shoot yourself in the foot. totally not a anti consumer or highly manipulative policy. hope you aren’t in overwatch cause they are worse. gl where e very you go there are people who will be following sooner not later for similar reasons.
they where told about this 5 years ago in alpha.
Do you have Send messages to alert me about changes to my Blizzard Account enabled? If not, you probably should.

it shouldn’t matter they should also have a location that will let you see why.
he praobly has a email that says banned but not why he was. as he said it was praobly for running his mouth at trolls and greifers like it is for most chat bans.
Yet in title the OP clearly stated that they never received an email.

I agree wholeheartedly that Blizz has the responsibility to inform the consumer why their account has been banned. People will probably say “it’s free to play” but many of us have D3/WoW/SC/OW and other games on our accounts that aren’t F2P.
I don’t know how much of a fair hearing you would get, but the customer should at least be informed by email what rules were broken for something as severe as an account ban.

Yes, they should absolutely tell you why you were banned.
If their desire is to stop a certain type of behaviour through punitive measures, then it makes sense that they tell you what behaviour is unacceptable so that you don’t do it again.
Otherwise players will either leave, dropping the player population, or they will create alt accounts and do the same thing in the future, because they don’t know what they did wrong.
While I’m usually pretty skeptical when I see “Banned for doing the right thing” or whatever other rubbish people use to convince themselves that they are innocent, the onus is ALWAYS on Blizz to inform players WHY they are banned and WHAT they did to earn it.

I still don’t see it but it’s not important you know it’s difficult to tell sarcasm over the internet in text form
.But yeah it suck when someone gets banned or silenced and not being told why because any human being has the right to know that.

Yep that checkbox was enabled but definitely something good to check, I think it’s enabled by default.
I’ve been notified via email of suspensions for both Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm but didn’t get an email this time for the ban.
Seems there’s a 3 strike rule, since over the 4 years I’ve been playing, 2.5 of which were actual playtime, I was suspended twice, don’t remember the duration of the 1st one but the 2nd last year was for 2 weeks.
Both of those times the email didn’t state specifically what was reported but just says “Chat Violation”, which is still better than in this case with no email whatsoever.
Maybe for automatic (number of reports in a period of time >= x) bans their email delivery system is busted. Either way it would’ve been nice to know why I was banned, but alas.

Engaging in flame wars in gen chat (or even arguing about topics like politics) will earn you a 100% certain silence or suspension. A channel has up to 180 people at any given time and plenty of them are willing to report you for ‘abusive chat’ just because you said something they don’t like.
I never report anyone in gen chat, just telling you why I never write a single word in general chat. Anything that draws unnecessary attention to you is a report magnet since there are no downsides for people reporting you just for the fun of it (or because they disagreed with you).

There’s definitely an issue with their email system I think.
My last forum silence didn’t include an email with the reason and all either.
Probably a bug on their end.

you just now realizing how bad the report system is and its auto punishment system? I thought it was impossible but they removed the email saying you are perma banned a long time ago, one of my friends got banned and he didn’t get a email and instead of saying “suspended” when he logged in it said banned. they really need to fix this reporting system or just outright REMOVE IT. there is this WONDERFUL thing called a MUTE button and BLOCK COMMUNICATIONS. we are given the tools to not hear “toxicity” but people just go right for the report for abusive chat if you say anything they don’t like

doesn’t matter, appeals don’t work because the rules say you can be reported by anyone that thinks what you said is abusive, so someone can report you for saying “HI” or “GG” because the report system thinks they the person reporting them finds that as abusive chat and logs it as a legit report. the only time it wont log a report for abusive chat is if you said nothing FOR THE WHOLE GAME

sucks to see you go your genji is good when we played together, but yeah there is no decay system on punishments on your account, if your last “strike” was 2 years ago, your next “strike” is a perma ban. also better yet reports decay over time not over games, so if you play multiple games a day you increase your chances of being reported than someone who only plays like 1 time a day. on top of you can be reported for abusive chat if the reporter thinks what you said is offensive in ANY WAY, even if it is just “GG” or “HI”
WHAT A GREAT SYSTEM

Yes I know, I’ve had friends silenced for those reason as it was cited by GM’s as “sarcasm”. I had another friend silenced for asking the team to report someone for dying to towers on purpose as it is considered a “threat” by the rules to do so.
Many people who defend the system because they have never been silenced, I haven’t been either, but it doesn’t mean the system can’t and shouldn’t be improved. There are many glaring issues and it did drive players away. About 15 of my friends stopped playing HOTS because of the report system.
