This dude needs a rework. His one trick pony is boring. Just stay in the back, throw an orb, rinse and repeat. If someone gets close to him, he throws a slow minion at them so he can just run away like the coward he is. What a joke for the lord of sin. Rework this garbage.
Sounds like you’ve been dealing with a lot of aram.
Globe used to be the entire reason to play him but nowadays the only Azmodans I see are the ones who run it down lane for the HotS campaign experience.
E build suits this playstyle really well.
No, he’s fine. He had a rework already.
hes ok but i miss that laser that never stopped, if an arrogant illidan dived you, you could simply force him to retreat as the laser grew stronger and stronger with a talent
3 second laser is not scary… even if it explodes
He is, but I also have to admit he is really boring to play.
He doesn’t suck but he’s not as much fun as he used to be.
Kind of a one-trick pony now
Ye it was fun dunking people from half across th map. Now you have to farm stacks and black pool ult got nerfed.
I’ve seen Fan these past days enjoying the build I gave him. It mind blown him after he tried the new Q+E combo since the patch v2.52.2 change.
Even on a 2 lanes map, it still does the job during team fights.

I feel qualified to post here as azmodan is my best hero. I have him at a lifetime 60% winrate in diamond.
He’s fine. Q build is a lil undertuned atm but if you’re a good azmodan you will get value out of it. He’s one of the best split pushers in game. When you join teamfights you should nestle yourself safely behind tank but close enough to e a target. E has massive dps learn how to use it when your q is on cooldown. Save it for when enemies have blown stuns. Your a decent dmg sponge as azmodan has more health than other mages, use that. Obviously it wont help you if you’re badly out of position but it means he can ignore poke dmg (then dish out a ton himself). Q should be spammed. W to scout and to deal extra dmg in tf.
There are at least 3 builds. Beam build, auto attack build and split push build.
The first 2 are more team oriented builds that emphasize staying with the team. The other emphasized pushing lanes.
Azmo is a boring and uninteractive “hero” that is only good at pushing and stat padding by throwing Qs on cooldown from over double the range of Chromie to poke enemies. The players who do this brain dead playstyle often get high stats and then proceed to “stat shame” a teammate if they’re losing even though the Azmo’s teammate would have contributed more meaningful things to team fights 99% of the time. This is the mindset that the overwhelming majority of Azmo mains have and they also don’t know why they’re stuck in silver or gold rank so they use their padded stats as a means to deflect blame onto their teammates. Basically a cowardly 0 skill “hero” that attracts cowardly 0 skill “players”.
I’ve observed the kind of Azmodan player you describe, most of them don’t even know they can get Annihilation stacks from hitting heroes and not just minions.
As a fan of heroes like Nazeebo and Azmodan, I wish they would be reworked a little bit to discourage the bad habits some players develop of just AFK stacking off minions.
I personally hate Azmo as a hero. I always feel like he doesn’t bring enough to a team. And 90% of my games with an Azmodan on my team were losses.
Unless Azmo is lucky to get a win againts a team with no eyes that let him push lanes for days.
Azmo is a TOUGH character to utilize effectively. Not someone you can just pick up and immediately do well with. It took a long, LOOOOONG time before my Azmo finally got to the level he is.
My build:
Lvl. 1. Greed. +20% dmg to non-heroic targets. Makes stacking/soaking with minions a LOT better, plus powers up the laser and makes monsters better too (only newbs pick gluttony. Thinking that more dunking will= Wins. nope).
Lvl. 2. Army of Hell. Because it’s nice being able to put out two monsters at once, especially when lvl. 16 rolls around. Plus i have a problem spamming monsters and reducing mana. The extra reload time keeps me from blowing my mana as much.
Lvl. 7- Master of destruction. Because i just cannot accept that laser only doing DMG to (1) thing. I love the spread effect. Plus it stacks annilation with heroes.
Lvl. 10- Tide of Sin! The extra dmg+Greed’s 20%, let’s me stack/soak on minions a LOT faster. Love wipeing out a small army of minions for lots o’stack with a single globe hit.
Lvl. 13- Cydiea’s Kiss. Makes the Laser channel faster.
LvL. 16- Hell rift! Prior to this my monsters are just glorified distractions/scouts. This is when they get GOOD! Now all my monsters do Double dmg! And when i’ve quested with Greed, they move/attack faster too! When lvl. 16 rolls around, it’s always a Good time! hehe.
LvL. 20- Sin’s Grasp. Further making the Laser better. Assuming i’m NOT close to 400 annilation, or i’d just pick Pride. The black pool sux, it just sounds/looks cool when it hits. But it doesn’t do squat.
^^ If you notice, i power up the laser as much as possible. Because that’s Azmo’s REAL BEST move. Not the globes. Globes are neat and it’s fun as hell to dunk and all but, it’s the Laser that does the lion’s share of Azmo’s DMG, plus my powered up monsters wrecking shop.
Edit: The globes naturally get powered up anyway as you keep stacking annilation.
You don’t need Tide of Sin with that build. You one shots minion waves already at lvl 7 with Q + E the mage minion.
Also the other Lvl. 10 talent, “Demonic invasion” kinda sux and takes FOREVER to reload too. I get a LOT more usage out of Tide of Sin.
Demonic Invasion is twice as popular and 7% higher win rate in Dia+ SL.
Good luck contesting that.
I don’t really give a damn. I go by my own sheer battle experience and what has worked first-hand.
It’s level 20 upgrade is REALLY strong at delaying channeling objectives.
Based on playing against it.
Beyond that, yeah, Idk where you take it.
