Automatic Replay Delete

Would it be possible to get an option to automatically delete replays after a certain point so we don’t have to delete them manually every so often. I’m thinking like an option to delete after 50 or delete after 3months. Something along those lines.

More like automatic please stop saving the replay. Dated feature.

I like being able to look back on recent games (generally just the last game) to double check “about what happened at this play in minute 18”.

Otherwise, sometimes it’s nice to see daily matches and notice certain players play a hero really well and so you want to follow up or send the replay to somebody.

However, after 3 months or X number of games, you just forget about the games. The ones that are worth saving you put aside in a different folder anyway.

I seem to recall originally there was a checkbox about whether or not you wanted to auto save replays, but that was removed long ago for some reason. Personally, I would just like if there would be a way to delete replays in the game a bit faster than one at a time, like something such as checkbox front of each one and you could just check all the ones you don’t care and then choose delete selected or something. Just had to delete around 1000 replays few days ago, one by one, it was rather tedious.

Open any file browsing tool, like Windows File Explorer, navigate to where you have your HotS account on your hard drive, and you can delete them all at once.

The location of your account information will be something like:

C:\Users\mynamehere\Documents\Heroes of the Storm\Accounts\1234567890\Hero-1-234567890\Replays\Multiplayer

Yeah but I don’t want to delete all of them, only the old ones, I always keep the current season ones.

You can sort by “date created” in every single officially supported operating system.

And notselect the newer replays…

Possible? Probably.
Likely? I certainly hope not! It sound like a tremendous waste of manpower, for something which is trivially easy to do anyways.

They should really improve the whole concept of the Replay page.

Give it a Favorite selection so I can sort by Favorites would be great as a start.

For “Delete” replays after time should focus on the main folder these replays are added to, so it doesn’t accidentally delete replays from folders made inside or favorites, and most importantly make the Replay Delete an option through settings instead of being forced.

I think this is a great idea, but also, the replay UI is extremely basic.

Or you could just hit Ctrl+A and press Delete then confirm using Explorer… Deleting 1,000 replays is near instant (baring partition I/O performance limitations).

Sort by date, select start of range, scroll to end of range, hold shift, select end of range, press delete and confirm. Deleting thousands of items using a computer is super easy.

I have been playing since HotS Alpha almost every day never missing daily quests. I have 11,206 replays. They occupy 4 GB of space. The rate at which one gains replay data is likely less than the natural inflation of storage one gets when one has to move systems.

When a replay cannot be replayed anymore due to version changes it would be nice if there was a button to remove all such replays. This would allow one to delete really useless replays with a single click which will likely already remove >90% for people like me.

ITT people who don’t know how to use the file explorers on their operating system. Are we all playing this game from nursing homes in year 2000?

I keep my favorite replays (both old and new) in my USB so I don’t lose them when something unexpected occurs to the game or my laptop. Those I don’t need I delete them afterwards.

Man power? I could code a simple UI for that in 2 hours. Would probably take a professional 30minutes.

Well, all you got is a UI…

You have to localize it in every supported language.
You have to do extensive QA testing to ensure it does not break anything.
You have to have a team(s) sit down and find how exactly they want it done.
Need a UI designed for it. And people approval that UI. And probably iterate it a few times.
I’m probably also missing some things in this list.

All in all, it’s a lot of work for a problem that takes the end user <2 minutes whenever they want to purge their replays. So the value it adds is essentially nil.

Not saying it does not add value. Just the value add is tiny and imo there are better value adds that could be done with that manpower.

imagine having an option in game settings where you tick a checkbox to AUTOSAVE ALL REPLAYS, game is running on starcraft engine, they both had this option for a short time but then it got removed

I have somehow lost my match replays for the evening of January 22(10pm MST) to the morning of January 23(7am MST). Is there a way to retrieve these files/replays or to retrieve timestamps/duration of the matches that occurred during this time frame. Thanks.
