Artanis needs to be Looked at for Rework

The main Problem with Artanis is that he is THE “Last Stand” Hero. Once he is in a fight, he stays in till he either wins or dies, there is no retreat options for him unless the enemy is dead or has no CC/speed (rare). He’s not even that good at Mercs and pushing compared to others.

I have a great idea to make him good without breaking him.

Maybe He could have a Talent Tier made for escape/Last Stand Options. Anything to not have him dies so easily.

Level 13:

  1. Q can be used to stop the dash so he can Q out of fights (Or in).
  2. Then another talent is Movement speed (20%) when his shield activates.
  3. Last talent would be that his E if it hits a hero gives him 1-2 sec Protected.

What do you guys think? Would a rework like this be OP or is this what he needs to be good again?

Reworks:weary::weary::weary::weary::weary::weary::weary:
If you’re gonna rework artanis for being too all in, then butcher would have to be reworked too

Butcher has tools to escape though, his W sustains someone chasing him, His Chain Ult can be used to disengage, his Q can slow people. What does Artanis have? NOTHING!

Plus butcher is an ALL-IN hero, unlike Artanis who is a “Last stand”

Artanis should just be niche (like pre rework cassia should’ve been) against double marksmen comps. And double marksmen comps are used on boe

If a Hero is only good for his one ult, then all the more reason for a rework. I think Hots needs to get rid of Niche heroes. I think they are doing that. Just look at all the recent reworks.

The devs and you have the exact opposite of my mindset but oh well. Going in a direction I don’t like. Niche means everyone will have their moment to shine. Double marksmen —> joh, artanis, lili, and cassia

Mages? supposedly anubarak, bw against pyroblast

Instead with the generalist mindset we now have op cassia. Joh is now too good for what she should’ve been. Tassadar is broken. Mei is too good even if the devs say she isnt

Leave Artanis alone, he doesn’t need a rework, just some buffs.

I know Artanis is the meme atm (cuz there always has to be one, but Gazlowe, TLV, D.va, Tassadar, Chen and many others from before got either buffed or reworked, so it’s his turn now), but I think he’s totally fine.

Artanis can’t disengage? Help him.
There supposed to be a Healer and a Tank in your team to help with that.
Not enough? Time to pick a Support, like Zarya/Aba for those insane movespeeds or Medivh for his Portal.

If Artanis needs something he can do better than other Bruisers, so be it, but removing his desinged flaw and fantasy shouldn’t be that.

(Btw, Artanis can escape with the Q+E combo using terrain, but I know it doesn’t work against multiple targets, that’s why I just mention it in bracket.)

I will likely get flak for it but i think artanis would benefit for having his kit scrapped like tassadar.
Arthas would need to have his talent tree scrapped and given healing /damage /%damage and even micro stuns.

I agree. Imo, what Artanis lacks is just actual sustaining power. His trait activates way too late imo (75% health), especially given that he can’t recover his health back. I would probably introduce baseline self healing so that he can Brawl longer and not actually feel like running on a timer. Or maybe buff his shields or give his Q an unstoppable.

I think his gameplay model is fine. He is given sufficient tools to support the way he should be played, and he has some counters to make sure that he doesn’t completely run amok.

He can be built to be quite tanky, depending on the comp he is facing. In addition, you should be picking your fights fairly carefully, as his design of an all-in bruiser is balanced by the fact he has no escape. His single target damage is quite high, and if you are good about managing your trait, he can handle a great deal of punishment.

But while he can survive a 1v3 a lot longer than many heroes, if you are getting yourself into that situation on a regular basis, you may be playing him a little too recklessly. Godswaps should only be used when you are sure of a kill, and not becoming one yourself. You can let your tank engage, and go in hard once the fight has started and key CC has already been used. In lane, watch the mini-map intensely and if you see any of the enemy team missing, assume they are coming to kill you.

If they gave him a reliable escape, such as choosing when to stop his Q, they would have to drastically nerf him elsewhere, as he could easily get out of control if he can dive-in, wallop someone, then get out again quickly. This is very similar to how Imperius can deal a ton of damage, but like Artanis, his main escape is killing everyone.

Thta’s the Tal’darim way which is ironic considering Alarak actually has 2 or 3 escape options.
By the way, Medivh is the perfect partner for Artanis just because portals.

Anduin is also fun as a team mate, between Lightbomb shenanigans and Lifegrip when things get a little too spicy.

Q cancel has been mentioned many times, but it’s NOT a good idea. The range is really long, so it would give him way too much mobility for a tanky hero. Enough that they’d have to nerf him in several other areas to compensate. And then we’d be back to a low value hero.

As a mobility option, it’s just too good. No matter how dumb it seems to see him get out of harm’s way then right back in

This doesn’t really work because it’s a problem in the solo lane. A bruiser who always needs help is not a great solo laner. Plus the fact that he isn’t hard to gank. Which is why he’s not touched much at high level.

But Artanis doesn’t suffer on the sololane.

Especially since it can go through terrain. Does anyone really want a tanky, angry protoss who can blink in and out of your forts?

One thing that might an interesting change is to let him use any of his abilities, or objects, during Blade Dash. He can already pick up things like globes and Deckard potions, why not let him hit a healing fountain, grab an item like a turret, or gap close onto an objective like a tribute, seed, or nuke?

I generally survive most gank attempts, unless it is very early game and I do not have my level 4 talent yet. If you are regularly getting ganked on any hero, much less Artanis, you need to get the mini-map DLC. His lack of presence in the higher ranks is due more to how one-dimensional his kit is, rather than his poor performance in his role.

As most people will say when talking about Artanis at a competitive level, there are just too many other bruisers who bring more to the table than he does.

A tanky angry protoss with shields

That’s because there is a slight channel time. So if he could insta pickup items, it would also allow him to instantly channel objectives. (In which case, I’d be playing him a lot lol)

That is why I said “gap close” for things with a channel like a tribute, but pick up on the fly like a dropped turret. I don’t believe those require channeling, or it wouldn’t be so easy to steal them in the middle of a rumpus over an object camp. For channeled items, right-clicking on the object would interrupt his Q and leave him there. This would be similar to a gap-close swap where you hit E right when you are on top of your target, as opposed to a godswap where you E on the return trip.

Fun fact, his trait used to activate when he was below 50% when he first release, though it was also stronger too.
