Art is a better hat target than Illidan

Change my mind

Both Artanis and Illidan have around the same WR, but when paired with Abathur, Illidan gets 6.5% better WR than Artanis. It’s less flagrant with the latest Artanis change, but Illidan still has the upper hand.

Illidan is frail, has global and is more dependent on his AA speed for his sustain from other sources than for Artanis. It’s a better fit.

Illidan is better with hat mostly because of The Hunt (and Illidan’s dueling tendencies), globals play into Abathur’s strategic advantage more than anything.

Do people even know how much selfhealing Illidan gets with Aba on him lol ???.

Yeah, hat on Artanis is great, but Illidan should still get more value. This is simply because more attack speed on Artanis means more damage, especially with POA, but aside from that only really makes him more durable.

More attack speed on Illidan means more survivability not just from self heal, more evasion, more gap closing, which also means more damage. An Illidan can stick onto a target and hit more often.

AnaBanana is just jealous because women love the big protoss.

But to the OP, as everyone has said, Illidan really is a better hat target between the two. Yes, Artanis will get a little extra CDR on his trait as well as more damage, but it enhances absolutely everything in Illidan’s kit.

Besides, with the hat on Illidan, he can soften them up so you can kill them!

Assuming actual equal skill level otherwise, I’d definitely prefer an Illidan on my team to be hatted over an Arty. The extra attack speed means he’s reducing his cooldowns even faster, makes his ability to duel absolutely EXPLODE (lifesteal stronk) and he’s practically guaranteed to get kills off of good usage of Hunt. Being low hp, only for an Aba-hatted Illidan to Hunt in and finish you off can be downright terrifying.

Oh, I should also note, another reason Illidan is a better hat target is that Abathur will also get more benefit out of it through more Stabs. Although the changes to Phase Prism make him a lot stickier than before, Artanis is still very easily kited, especially compared to Illidan. The longer the hat target can stay on their victim, the more damage Abathur can put out.

When it comes to Abathur synergy… the real question that would interest me:

Ilidan vs Tracer, Butcher Zeratul or Samuro? Who is the best friend of Abathur?

Tracer has a big advantage here on just the fact shes a ranged damage dealer while everyone else is melee. This makes it much easier to keep her health up. While she still gains big from attackspeed buff and symbiote damage. But I think an Illidan with level 20 demon form talent is the absolute best as the attack speed buffs stack on eachother resulting in absolute insanity.

Tracer doesn’t gain that much of an advantage due to her reload mechanics. The AA Speed Buff doesn’t change the reload time.
She gets only with sleight of hand a decent reduction of the reload time. But this talent on Level 7 is weak in comparison to locked and loaded on the same tier.

Kerrigan.

Because she’s so much more threatening than all of those (except probably Zeratul) since she has AoE CV. Amateur would just increase her survivability and tankiness via AA assimilation shields. Lol.

Ironically I hear for the first time about Aba+Kerrigan combo, while I faced a good amount of Tracer, Ilidan or Samuro combo paired with Aba. Is Kerrigan with Aba an sleeper combo?

TB/Second Wind Varian can get a ton of value out of an Abby hat as well. Like Illidan, it enhances his stickiness and self-sustain, and he can stay in range of targets for Abby to stab.
