Are we the forsaken?

I assume you mean in his early days? He was bad, one of the worst actually. He received nothing but buffs for like 10 patches. His Q was bugged for ages and it self stunned him. The bug was his biggest issue as it made him easy target to chain CC and burst.

It’s what happens when game companies become big enough that mosquito executive board members and chief executives who’ve never played a single game before take over the top of the pyramid and make decisions to boost revenue on the short term, at the expense of both the community and eventually the developers who were dedicated to the game.

Activision has never really not just been kinda trashy. I think this was bound to happen eventually, sadly.

It’d be nice if they sucked less, though.

If there were multiple blizzard people actively posting on the forums one individual wouldn’t eventually be able to take all the credit for whatever good work was done.

Seniority doesn’t necessarily represent competence, it just sets an expectation that one person will take on responsibility of public interaction. It’s just one guy.

You do realize that before his farewell post, AzJackson has not posted a single thing on the forums since October of 2020?

And? That’s probably around the time he was deciding to step down. He was probably in no place to comment on HotS at that point.

That doesn’t mean the forums weren’t being checked.

No, I mean after that. Just before he started being payed. They did the same thing with Post rework Chen.

Scratch that. No dev has posted anything on the forums since October 2020.

Pretending like this is “day 1” of the devs going dark on us is just silly.

Now the day has come
We are forsaken
There’s no time anymore
Life will pass us by
We are forsaken
Only ruins stay behind

With no offense, Reddit is full of idiots, we all can admit that. If you have a different opinion than someone else, you’re getting downvoted.

Devs are more active on Reddit than on forum.

The game is considered a Blizzard “classic” now, alongside Diablo 2. I would like more engagement on the forums from devs, but I’m realistic about it.

Naturally with AZ Jackson leaving and no doubt a mini restructure of the current team and covid, I’m not surprised there hasn’t been much communication on the forums.

I’m not excusing it, but again, just keeping things in perspective.

Oh yeah, I’m not disagreeing with you, man. I know the situation. I’m just saying, the OP saying “Day 1 of the devs going dark” is laughable when you can pull up the dev feed and see for yourself its been A LOT longer than 1 day.

Right, so AZ Jackson responding to ~1 thread a month is proof for you that he read tons of threads, but no post at all is proof that no threads at all were read.

LOGIC!

(seriously, if this is actually your position this is a massive amount of cognitive dissonance)

honestly, the worst part is that simply posting about AMA here, and linking to some of the questions on reddit would pretty much solve the issue.

IMO, of course.

barely more active, if you take out the art comments, and the meme comments.

excluding AMAs, where as I noted in my post before this, IDK why they don’t have a forum thread and links to forum questions as they answer some that they choose to respond to.

Yeah, there are no serious things debated there, only memes and arts. If you complain about the state of the game, the fanboys will defend the game and downvote you hardly.

I mean, if the complaints are also suggesting “fixes” like the ones people love to post here to “fix” the game, I can understand the downvotes somewhat.
(A lot of the “fixes” are terrible ideas).

I agree.

HotS Senior Artist is streaming daily, doing some personal arts, maybe for his portfolio so he can move to another project, and also he is playing Apex Legends. Why should he care about the game situation?

3 things:

  1. It is a grey 0 post account. There are essentially running gags for years of people just up and making “I quit” topics that haven’t ever posted anything before. It doesn’t indicate they actually stopped; it doesn’t indicate they actually played.
  2. While the writing is a bit better than other gimmicks of the same sort, the basic gist it is is looking for an out to complain/blame something rather than asking for assistance. Past the ‘mock’ posts, the conversation did go into posters that have had similar experience, tech concerns, etc etc. Had the OP taking a different approach, then there would have been a different outcome as several posters around here do look to try to help despite complaints essentially assuming that that can’t happen.
  3. The name is a generic/random one. That can indicate that the ‘main’ account has been sanctioned and forced to change then name (and they haven’t updated past the random, ie “don’t care”) or it could mean they went out of their way to make an alt account just to complain on the forums. There’s a couple other takes as well, but the basic gist is that posting from a generic/bllzz rando name tends to fall into cementing the stereotype of the complaint.

Basically, it gives the impression that – to use Spongebob references, since “everyone” knows Spongebob – the topic comes off like Plankton put on a mustache, walked to the Krusty Krab and announced he wasn’t never going to eat there again.

As an important note in my post on this, I got a right-click notification to correct the spelling on “Krusty Krab” so Big Brother, or whatever for Discourse, clearly has a keen eye for this sort of stuff.
