Hiya! I’ve been playing heroes since 2018, but have only just joined the forums so sorry if I’ve missed something.
I know development was cut on HotS but has there been any confirmation anywhere that new heroes are eventually coming? Or is this it for the game?
Any links to articles or dev posts would be appreciated! I tried looking myself but to not much luck…
We don’t know actually.
But I can’t say I find the number of characters in the game to be an issue. So if it’s going to stop, now is a good time I guess. Better than back when we were hurting for tanks and healers.

There were Heroes being worked on. Possible they’re still, but nothing to guarantee.
Check again after Halloween. If we get a new hero this year, the teaser should be up by then.

In there, a dev mentions they’re working on new stuff, including heroes.
This was posted 4 months ago, so after Hogger’s release.
So, at least I can tell you they were working on new heroes a few months back.
Also, they mentioned in an AMA way back when (Genji was the newest hero back then) that creating a hero takes somewhere around 9 months.
So, if we assume they are no longer working on several heroes in the pipeline because of team downsizing*, then we coul reasonably supose that a new hero would come out ~9 months-ish after Hoggs.
He was released on december 2020 (I think), so 9 months later would be september/october-ish.
*: note that we don’t know wether they are working on several heroes or not, nor do we know if the total time for one hero is still around the same, or if HotS being moved to “Classic games” also affected that.

Would be nice if we just get one before new year.
Currently we are unsure, but until they officially say they stopped making new heroes I would not assume otherwise.
However do keep in mind that Blizzard is in some hot water currently. While we are unsure what is going on behind the scenes. It is safe to assume they are doing what they can to try to tame the backlash. Even allegedly going so far as to shred evidence.
These are rough times indeed.

No. No we are not getting any new heroes.
There’s an unspoken societal rule that says:
“Give the masses everything they want, when they want it? They’ll only focus on what they don’t have. Not appreciating what they do have”.
Aka: Yes, let’s all get together and whine about no new Heroes! Screw all the great characters we already have. Screw enjoying the game as it is now, no sir, we are NOT doing that. Commence the whining!
yeaaaaa, lets screw going to work to earn your next month’s paycheck, and appreciate your 5k savings in your saving accounts
before you tell me money can buy essentials and all that bull, no, cavemen survived without money. 
not trying to be negative here, but this kind of behavior is just built in our genes. that’s why people land on moons, why we are typing on computers that have been evolving at ridiculous speed in just mere few decades.
I don’t wanna be a doomsayer but it doesn’t look good for Blizzard and for HotS. I don’t know if the video is true but if it is, could be the reason we haven’t been given any updates lately about new content and such is the rebranding Blizzard is undergoing.
HotS wasn’t even acknowledged.

Right…enjoying the game while we still can and, being thankful for every month that goes by that it’s still up.
