You have anecdotes with selectively bad reads on the game.
The ETC game isn’t “without a healer”. It’s frontline heavy with most characters shown to have taken their self-sustain talents. People just picked around not having a dedicated healer, and based on the death count, the backline was probably fairly frustrated at having ‘useless’ tanks that weren’t peeling or the like. The other side is arguably too heavy on the backline, doesn’t have enough interrupts, so it’s practically a free gorge or mosh while their side is forced to watch and break out into flame-blames.
What’s the difference between a healer with 100k healing, and two tanks with 121k healing? Healing is still healing.
The nova game is the same shctick; 88k on enemy healer, 75K tank w/ 14k ally assisted healing plus lots of self-healing on gul’dan and deathwing. These aren’t games without ‘healers’, they’re games with healing spread out.
Tanks were reworked to tend to not be reliant on healers, and healers were specced to try to contribute without being a ‘healbot’. If a team has picks that have zoning, control, poke, damage mitigation, then the game-listed “role” is superficial.
But a number of these examples tend to highlight that someone else picked up the slack, and they were probably more stressed out over it. However, without knowing the other options, if people where ‘cool’ with coordinating whatever picks, then it’s mostly moot speculation that wants a tl;dr instead of ‘proof’.
But we don’t know if the Valla played AA build or not ( I would assume she did given her damage within 11 minutes). But even if she did, it doesn’t get destroyed by blinds. Even with Johanna’s “Zealous Glare”, it’s only 3 seconds of blind vs an entire game of AAs. No matter what Johanna does, she spensa more time able to deal damage than not. Zarya doesn’t like AA build either, since it’s not burst that she can easily deal with, and it makes it easier to deny her energy.
The enemy’s best bet is to save temporal loop to try and burst her. But Ana can deny both it and Problast with sleep dart. (And I wouldn’t trust a random KT to save his abilities for my ult, so that was probably a no go)
So you are saying I was right the entire time? If damage dealers and tanks can viably keep themselves and even others healed, why do players pressure each other to pick a certain role in ARAM? I’m not a villain because I rather have a fun match than be stuck on Uther, Anna or Whitemane. Half the playerbase can’t even play Whitemane and they’d be better off just picking another tank or damage dealer.
I outperformed the other ETC in that game by a lot. He had a healer advantage. I specced specifically to be able to throw out some heals. I got pressured to pick something else, yelled at and told we would lose for sure. How is that picking up slack? More like panicking and making it more likely we lose or someone gets demoralized and gives up when they are clearly winnable as the games proved.
Being “right” would entail the argument matches the claim. The process you demonstrate isn’t that you’re “right”, you just want to claim it as such. You’re an ‘ends justify the means’ sort and ignores details that don’t fit your narrative.
Of the sentences I posted detailed the ‘why’ of the post, what you pick out is the “oh, that agrees with me”. Confirmation bias isn’t “right”, that’s why you keep making more topics that boil down to you wanting to remove something from anyone else that isn’t you at a particular moment.
yea, I went through a couple of the previous topics and thought of quoting your posts before – or even quoting your own quote – but I wanted to keep my reply short.
Rather than edit my above post I’ll add this two bits:
Screencap links on one-off games don’t “prove” x’y’z’ sweeping generalities about the game. The issue isn’t [role] picks, it’s people thinking small claims “prove” something that they do not.
“The issue is when a person who isn’t smart thinks they are really smart.”
Your zeal to assert your credo tends to undermine yourself.
This is also from the person who claimed to never leave ARAM or QM, after which point I quoted several of their posts ALT+F4ing out of matches.
Can probably do that with this topic if one searches Salmiak’s post history. With how they change their opinions every few months you could put past Salmiak, current Salmiak, and future Salmiak in a room and they would be too busy arguing with one another to bother anyone else.
The OP, at least the first 2/3rds, would have fit in with the Thanks For The GG thread…buuuuuuuuuuuuuuut here we are.
I agree 100%, even though none of your post supported or argued the idea that you can win without a healer (unless you have the opinion I agree with, that malf isn’t a real healer, but even then, 2 malfs are likely to add up to a real healer), so it goes well with your final remark:
This part is very true. Why do people think they can convince others to do what they want? How do people play dozens of games every day, and still think they can bully others into picking what they want? I am not even sarcastic right now… it’s the most casual mode of most casual moba, some people pick what they know they can’t play and know it’s unlikely to work with the other heroes on team. Even faking playing isn’t bannable… those still trying to change the community around them are definitely and, sadly, irredeemably delulu.
I’d only pick the tank or healer if I want to. I just had a game where I told them to not pick a tank since we had two cains and we still won against 2x azmo, a mephisto and healer + tank. Our one Deckard was afking in beginning then stood in bottom lane not moving but threw super pots/infinite pots/used heroic if engaged so not completely useless. People had to fight near him so it wasn’t a 4v5. I suspect it was a bot. We would have lost if I picked a tank since we wouldn’t have enough damage (the stats back that up).
The players matter more than the comp for sure. When someone tells me to pick something I just think to myself they are probably not going to be decent at the game and it’s usually true. You could pick something to accomodate them, they underperform and blame your heals/tanking like clockwork. Definitely best to just pick what you want in ARAM even if you leave the team w/o a tank or healer.
