Brawl is gone, replaced with ARAM as its own mode.
This means that it no longer awards a weekly chest upon completion of 3 games, but now does count towards Daily and Event quests.
IMO this is an excellent change.
For one, no more throwers looking for fast progress towards that chest at the beginning and end of each week.
Even better, ARAM is now a great place to grind out those Dailies.
Hopefully, they will be able to re-add event- and season-themed Brawls later on.

It’d be a better change if they brought the old brawls back, rather than remove the mode entirely.

I’m just glad that the ARAM maps change, potentially, between each game rather than each week.

I probably will rarely play it. But nice for people who like it.
The link has been on the forum for a while, they can’t because they have to update old client code from those brawls to be compatible with new versions every time there’s a new patch.
And hiring developers to spend their time on that costs money (I have no idea what “pretty expensive” means, but I assume at least the full time salary of 1 engineer).

Sadly, non-ARAM Brawls are pretty expensive to maintain. We’d love to keep the Brawl mode hidden, and set up something fun there, for a week or two, on special occasions, such as seasonal events.
The ideal scenario would be that they bring back at least a few of them like Pool Party or Lunar Racing a few times a year, but so far they didn’t even do that (this year).

Interesting… Not sure if I’ll start playing aram with this but I might…
No who am I kidding? Prbly not ;D
Let’s see if people will still play it if there’s not chests to be earned. I know most people played it for the chest.
This might prove to blizzard that the old brawls are better

I doubt it. Most of those players only played 3 times a week, then left. They likely didn’t account for a large number of games played.

This change will probably cleanse QM of those who play it as brawl and go all cray cray on mid lane. IF there’s a map rotation in between games.
Thank gawd. ARAMs were fun when they were a once in awhile event. To be forced to play them 3x a week, every week, just to get the brawl reward was exhausting.

Some people also grind AI for hours, and play UD for any reason. I think there’s a fair chance it will find it’s own following.

There are a lot of people who play ARAM for ARAM, not the chest.
Since when were you forced? I really don’t get that logic. You were doing something you really did not enjoy because of a dumb chest?

Okay, you want to be the hyperbole police, sure, I wasn’t forced. The old brawls, I didn’t mind because each week was different even if I didn’t necessarily like it because it was just for a week, and I wanted the chest. After they stopped supporting that, and just did ARAMs every week, it stopped being novel, but yeah, I still wanted the chest.
You can call me stupid for still doing them, and some weeks I didn’t, but that incentive was still there.

I also would like to push for ranked no longer counting for daily quests.
You can call it hyperbole police if you want but I just really do not understand and wanted to inquire about what I don’t understand.
When you go into ARAM these last couple of weeks, is it 100% for the chest? Is the incentive of a chest teh only reason you go into an ARAM? What is your mindset when you get into an ARAM? Are you half-assing it because you just want the chest? Are you semi afking, not paying attention, because you just want the game to end faster? Are you giving up easily because it’s just so exhausting?
Again, I don’t really understand. Because I play ARAM a lot and I could not care less for some dumb chest. I got like 120 unopened chests lying around. Sometimes I play like 10-15 ARAMs in a row. And then I see people who are referring to the game mode I like as something they get “Forced” into because of a chest? That playing 3 matches in this mode is “exhausting”?
I don’t get any of that. Why you would play a mode that you literally yourself describe as “being forced” and “exhausting”.
In an extreme analogy, it would be like putting up a booth that says “Stab yourself in the leg for 5 dollars” and that some people would feel “forced to do it” because “the incentive is there, even though it’s super not worth it”
I’m glad this change is here, then, that there’s no weekly chest. Because we wont have to deal with people who are halfassing it in ARAM because they are “forced” to play ARAM which they don’t like. I personally haven’t seen anyone say “Let’s just lose quickly for weekly chest” but there may or may not have been people who were trolling to end the game quicker for the chest.
I only fear that people will start being “forced” to play ARAM because it’s easier to complete quests there now or something.

You answered it in your first post, the dumb chest.
People do dumb stuff because of incentives. It’s really not that complicated.
This is the perfect excuse to complete the “Play 2 games as an Overwatch hero” quest I have had for the last year

I guess. I just find it to be … perplexing behaviour. Illogical. Etc.
I see it coming that change might make aram to the new popular mode aside of QM. Casual people likes to brawl mid.

finally, DAILIES!
aram is the only mode that i play,
but i’m always forced to grind beginner AI every few days for dailies,
NO LONGER!
and perhaps people will now stop treating it like a joke mode
so sick of “its just brawl” when people pick stuff like TLV instead of the only healer option on our team.
