ARAM Healing Options

I don’t mind being forced to play healer when I’m handed the only healer option for the entire team; what I do mind is only having whichever healer they shoved at me. I absolutely dread seeing Rehgar or Uther as my only option, since melee range is often a death sentence in ARAM maps.

Could we get a tweak to the ARAM system where, if it pops up only one healer, then it will offer a re-roll to set your other two options to also be different healers?

Sure, everything just for you!

Id love to get some kine of re-roll or trading feature but dont discount uther and rehgar so easily. They can keep up in healing just fine.
For uther take W at level 1 and Q talents for the rest and you wont run out of mana so quickly. There will even be times where W gets a 4 second cooldown or something like that which is some decent healing.
For rehgar, the wolf build is pretty good. You dont have to hit heroes to get the cooldown reduction on your other abilites. If you cant get alot of hero hits then I recommend one of the other 2 talents on level 4. The totem is just decent over time healing (especialy if you have alot of tanks or bruisers) and lightning shield can be put on minions to get gain mana back.

I would like to see the options to swap either single picks or the whole 3 choices at once, so that we can avoid the poor fellas who don’t have any idea how to play their three.

It’s not a reroll even, just a swap around of heroes they already do have in their pool. I think it could help.

Would be nice if we have a heal main on our team and I am a tank main, and he has only tanks / I have only heals.

We would have a swap icon, when we both click it, in 3 seconds our hero pools will swap together.

Maybe wishful thinking but I hope it’d be added.

ARAM does mean all random, which does include the chance you’ll get heroes you don’t want to play.

Yes, I dislike having melee healers matched against ranged ones.
Yes, I dislike having Uther and Tyrande matched against proper main healers
Yes, I dislike when they make me play Ana or Morales because I hate playing them.

I fully understand how all of those are broken. Lucio’s broken in ARAM. His AoE healing is far too strong and he can make the entire team hypermobile for even more funzies. Morales can be game-breaking if she has a proper front line and no one drafts dive. Uther’s abysmal vs most comps because he can’t heal through things like Skillthas’ living bomb spam and people inevitably spread the elf AIDS. Alex’s green circle can be a death trap half the time and any competent player will save their AoE attacks to drop on it. Auriel’s very hit-or-miss. If her team is scared and won’t engage, she literally sits there all game with no energy while her team whines about no heals. Lili is fantastic against AA-heavy, but struggles against the usual 3 mage shooting galleries that ARAM generates. There’s a lot of randomness in the All Random All Mid game mode.

To be perfectly honest, I’m far more concerned with the games where 3 people have healing choices, and no one picks a healer, then you get steamrolled in 12 minutes while that guy who insisted on playing Tracer instead of healing feeds into the CC-heavy enemy team and complains that the rest of her 1/4 health team won’t engage.

ARAM isn’t perfect. It’s random. I’m not sure there’s anything to “fix” here.

A couple of you seem to have missed the main point. It isn’t about disliking a specific character or role; it’s about the pressure of being forced into a single choice without being given any alternatives.

We all know the team is going to throw a fit in chat, give up immediately, or otherwise be unhappy if you don’t pick the only healer/tank in the entire offered roster. In such cases, the player should be given a bit of breathing room in their forced choice via a reroll or trade option; at least then they might feel like they had some semblance of choice and could be given an option they’re more familiar with so they can help the team out better.

I’d rather trade a healing role from someone who’s never so much as touched a support than watch them settle in to their first ever Morales game and promptly watch us all get stomped. That’s not fun for anyone involved, and it’s partly because the random system is grossly limited and not always balanced out.

I did prefer the old style of ARAM where when it gave you a healer, it meant you only had 3 healers to choose from, so you were forced into being a healer (which is a thing anyway as it is, depending on how you look at it) but atleast you had 3 healers to choose from.

I heavily dislike getting some healers in ARAM like Auriel or Tyrande. And I’m not a fan of getting Rehgar or Kharazim either if it’s mostly assassins on both sides.

A lot of people don’t want to accept this though even if it says so right there in the name…

It’s almost like some people like the “all mid” single-lane concept but want to pick/draft like in a normal game.

Personally, I’d enjoy that mode a lot, even if the game clearly isn’t balanced around it.

I love healing in aram and would gladly take the healing role off of unwilling people if i had the chance.

This is the essence of Brawl. Sometimes you get fun heroes, sometimes you get Ming, Chromie, or Medihv.

Just gotta roll the dice and accept the results
