I wonder why no one has mentioned Gul’dan before. He is pretty strong with Corruption build in ARAM
I don’t disagree, but ARAM mirror match Murky, now that’s my kind of fun!
Give me all Aba!

I feel like cheating whenever I play 2 heroes. Orphea and Azmo. They destroy aram because their kits are so specialized for aram it’s scary.
Guldan is indeed mega strong. Medivh is also extremely strong, if played at a high level in ARAM as well. They will pretty much negate alot of burst dmg.
Worst
Illidan
Tracer
Butcher (can be amazing but 99% of the time people will end up 10+ death with 20 meat after 15 minutes)
The thing people don’t understand about Butcher in ARAM is that he should only be picked when you have teammates that can facilitate a kill. Ie - you need a tank/brusier heavy team that has cc or can set up plays (Garrosh, Artanis, Stitches).
He should be avoided at all cost on mage/heal heavy teams that mostly stay backline. Butch just stands around in these comps.
100%
I only pick butcher when I got atleast 2 beefy front lines and we got plenty of CC. But even then it gets risky because you are such a target that everyone saves their CD for you haha.
Last time I was butcher we did win though, just strategically charging someone out of position
Aight, jumping in here, haven’t read all the arguments so if I restate information, oops. Slightly valid data from me with my ignoring non ARAM because VS AI- no no, no rambling. Alright.
Best:
- Yrel: If you want more information on that, I have several arguments planned out and am just enthusiastically anticipating getting to shove them in people’s faces
- Lucio: I’ll go more into detail here. I don’t care as much about debating over him. Anyways, Lucio provides a great deal of sustain and utility. I personally tend to break what I’ve seen is the meta by taking High Five over beeg shield. Also is nice to see boombox’s popularity rising. The utility and range it provides is so much better than the itty bitty effects from the other talent that’s often picked for crossfade at 7. Percentage healing makes it so you have high burst and sustain. High Five allows you to move more effectively, grant Unstoppable, and is a good bit of burst healing to off-set Lucio’s sustain based healing. Shield Heroic will have a player die to DoTs if the DoTs stay on for long enough, and is great for pushes or whatever, put High Five is a constant benefit for your team. Oops, I rambled.
- Anub’arak: I saw someone high up commenting on win rates, and saw beetle build. It’s fun. You’ll run out of mana, yeah, but you’re generating a ton of beetle and stunning squishies if you can aim. Decent healing, Harden Carapace, his W, really helps spam beetles and keep him alive. I like taking Shed Exoskeleton or whatever do to how much uptime Carapace gets compared to other abilities. You just spam it more, so I buff it. And going nyoom is fun.
- Brightwing: Polymorph. It’s so funny to poly someone out of nowhere and have your team bully them. Burst and sustain, is just good.
Now, these next ones are only the best with no healing. All of them are either average or below average with healing. A lot of the MAs though are actually good- you just need no sense of self preservation, silly sophonts.
- Valeera: I want to watch you call her bad after she chases you down behind enemy lines and kills you due to no healing. Even with healing, by choosing the right times, you can isolate and burst down low HP characters. Garrote on the healer Sinister Strike, Eviscerate, Cleave, Sinister if you can, Eviscerate, you probably should’ve left after cleave, you’re dead. But hey, you’ll have dealt a ridiculous amount of damage. This is assuming you’re going a stealth ability build and taking the extra combo point talent from tp-ing with stealth abilities or whatever. Just work with your team, take Cloak of Shadows, it’s so stupid, 75 Spell Armor + Unstoppable for like 2 seconds every ~15 seconds? Awesome. Even clears DoTs. Taking Smoke may seem better but trust me, you’ll appreciate Cloak when you start tanking heroics and getting away with your tomfoolery.
- Zeratul: ONLY WITH NO HEALING. So, funny stealthy positions are funny, right? Might of the Nerazim + Blink mean you go nyoom. In Industrial District, there’s that little indent to the bottom left or top right of the fort next to the conveyors. Teleport in there, go Invisible, and when a poor, innocent Chromie comes by for a regen globe, stab her. It’s stupid how many times you can get away with it if they don’t wizen up. Heck, if you walk into the cannons from behind them to sneak attack the enemies, so long as you Cleave and then Blink + Might immediately, you’ll be fine. Bonus points for skipping cleave and basic attacking one so you can sneak attack them 2 seconds later randomly. If there are heals, is definitely one of the worst.
Just Straight Up Bad
- I’d say nobody, tbh. In the right conditions, with the right mindset, you can use any Hero to murder everything. Deckard with Scroll Quest, Ruby, Kanai’s Cube iirc, Heroic Doesn’t Matter Just Pick One, Stone Curse and Beeg Pots, forgot the order, and finally Perfect Gems so you can spam minis and Scrolls. At that point, if you have some other stuns/roots, you deal a crap ton. If they clump up together, you deal a crap ton. People consistently underestimate Scroll’s AoE- I certainly do. The point is, any hero can be weaponized. Illidan? The Hunt at 20 is broken, ICBDM, a VPDM. Intercontinental Ballistic Demon Hunter/Vengeance Propelled Demon Hunter. You respawn, teleport across the map and stun an enemy, most likely stunning a low HP minion or one that is in the middle of allies. Also highly useful for backdooring. Murky is just awesome. What I’m saying is, I can argue for or against any character. Especially Azmodan- he blatantly cheats. Trust me, would I, a person who doesn’t play Azmo because it’s boring, throw false accusations at him because it’s funny? Nah, all Azmo’s are cheaters. You must play a game of Yrel to redeem yourself.
Today’s Yrel Quote: “Hammer down!” I’ll probably forget to do these at some point. Sorry for rambling, this happens a lot-
The rambling, I mean.
Okay, I’ll go now-
Just saw this, sorry for the ping. I had to agree with this, or else honor something or another. I still remember rushing through the army lines of tiny murlocs…
Yeah, I really like those games because 1. I love slapping down an egg in idiotic places and getting away with it because of mid-combat egg placements to heal it and then getting the first slime in, and 2. because I’m actually good at MvM combat. It’s all about timing and getting your Pufferfish to heal you off of minions via Fish Tank midway through combat so you outlast the enemy, along with timing your slimes right. Sorry, you probably already know all dis- I just like sharing information a lot. Problem is, I tend to be naturally condescending and believe I know better than everyone else… Except in the fields I know that I am very much so outmatched in. Oops. RAMBLING GOT ME AGAIN
Sorry again for the ping and barely related to the thread post. Uhhh Murky is one of the best-maybe for being an absolute pest and, if you play him right, distracting the entire enemy team, doing massive structure damage, and just randomly doing like 1000 damage out of nowhere. At 20, that is, and he can sustain that with proper usage of Toxic Buildup and Making Inky. Okay, enough rambles, have a good day, lol
Not at all, I love discussing that cute little green menace! MvM combat in ARAM can be quite fun, I like how ally slime stacks, so you can usually get your slime quest finished very quickly.
In MvM games, I have mostly taken the Egg Hunt talent, it’s great for vision, the untalented slime on destruction can provide some chip damage and can sow confusion in the enemy if you use them as barriers to make choke points, all that with Pufferfish on minions with Fish Tank, means a lot of damage and self sustain.
The only downside can be trying to time your Puffer with your Murloc allies, so you don’t deny them sustain from minions, etc.
While I remember to ask which Ultimate do you usually prefer to take in Murky mirror games in ARAM?
You didn’t ramble, but if you did, you’re in good company, I tend to go off on tangents and should edit my posts for brevity, but eh, I’m sometimes too lazy.
Anyway, welcome to the forums, it’s always good to read posts that are constructive and interesting.
Alright then! Also, having another person writing properly is always fun, even if I only due so due to this being a forum environment and not a game where time matters or Discord.
Yeah, the slime stacking is always nice, and Egg Hunt is always the best pick. I tend to take a ton of risks, as in, I sometimes stick an egg in that little regen globe area on Angel Map. That allows you to assassinate the eggs behind the fort by using Slime + Pufferfish, which usually survives after you die if you time it right.
Anyways, for Heroics it’s always best to take the little murlocs. While the stun is very nice, low respawn times and low exp per kill lead to it being straight-up worse than dealing structure damage and denying movement, sometimes even doing the job of the stun by allowing another Murky to get the kill.
Oh, just remembered I wanted to say this, Egg Hunt Slime does apply the Slime stack if there’s no Slime on them, so try to get them to bonk the egg first, leading to getting the first stack down, before using your own Slime, which is talented.
And yeah, discussing Murky is always fun. Like, seriously, I know that if you don’t play him right, or most of the time, really, he sucks in ARAM, but he’s a crap ton of fun! Have a good day, and as it is coming up, Thanksgiving.
No W in ARAM isn’t that big of a deal because wave clear isn’t an issue in a single lane map.
Getting stacks in ARAM is even easier. Take increased slime range at 7 and/or slime a group… bubble… slime again and die (if you have to) until you get your stacks.
I usually cause the biggest issues flanking the mages/healers from out of the bushes.
Exactly, its not hard
It’s a big deal, and not because waveclear, but because you lose a third/quarter of your power.
So you feed the enemies a lot of xp and being useless for a big portion of the match.
At that point if you win, either ypur allies could carry that dead weight or the enemy messed up.
While I love Murky vs Murky games, I won’t pretend that in regular games that Murky is an optimal choice. Yes, I’ve had some success with him in ARAM, but your point regarding his Pufferfish is all too true. Any semi decent team will basically render Pufferfish useless, and so there goes one of Murky’s nukes, leaving only, Slime, Bubble and a ULT.
It doesn’t always play out this way, when the stars align, Murky can be a menace to a team of mostly melee heroes, but it’s ARAM, where ranged assassins are always a popular choice, and as you noted, ARAM is one lane, so none of this makes him a very enticing pick.
Even checking Heroes profile, Murky is among the worst performing Heroes in ARAM. And that while he’s probably played only by the confident (which does not equal with but often means “skilled”).
But obviously every character can win and all are fun.
Exactly this. It’s ARAM and my preference is for players to choose their hero based on “fun”, and not meta or whatever.
So many heroes I now main, I wouldn’t have touched if not for ARAM. It is (or should be) a game mode where palyers can feel relaxed with experimenting with new heroes and talent/builds, etc.
I recently had a match where a Guldan picked… well that, instead of a Healer they could’ve. While I’m also obviously not a fan of not picking the Healer for the team, our Cassia said she’ll troll. Whelp, she could’ve played worse and troll harder, true, but she did flood the chat and afked here and there, not fully committing to fights. We still won. Imagine if she played like her best…
I enjoy playing healers, so 99% of the time I take one if the team needs it. As you noted, if people just committed and tried to win, any comp can work in ARAM.
