i was up 8kills 4mins into the game we died 3 times had 12 and the enemy was ahead of us in levels then they got 10 before us and snowballed 3+ more levels

wtf?
we both got our own camps too

If you hover your mouse over the level numbers at the top it displays where the XP comes from. Take a look.

ahh game ended but how does enemy team get 3+ levels with equal fort equal camps and less kills by 8 lmao

them getting 10 before us just snowballed the entire game and there was zero recovery

unless exp deaths at level 1-2 is less than the deaths we had at level 6 even then we had 8 more

I don’t know. Brawl XP works differently to encourage faster games. Next time you see something weird like that then take a look and it gives you a breakdown of where XP is coming from.

Is it possible that you were missing xp globes from creatures?
It’s easy to do so if your characters have relatively long range, and you aren’t last hitting them. For example, with Tassadar I have to move to get xp globes for minions I have (mostly) killed. Hammer is extremely bad in this regard.

Anyway, if ARAM matches are recorded, just watch it and see how xp goes up for each team.

Maybe they soaked lanes too, while your team ignored lane while doing camps?

No idea if that actually happened, would need replay for actual story.

Early game deaths grant less XP than a minion wave, so yeah, those later deaths are what cost you the lead.

Likely was due to failure to collect experience from minion waves. This can easily happen if the enemy team has oppressive range damage and your team is mostly melee or lacks healing. Some heroes pretty much automatically collect minion wave experience due to all the AoE damage they throw around which could explain why the enemy team was constantly getting such experience.

Examples of such heroes…

  • Kael
  • Jaina
  • Xul
  • Nazeebo
  • Junkrat
  • Chromie
  • Azmodan
  • Kel Thuzard
  • Zagara

No surprise that many of these are considered high tier “instant pick” heroes as well. There are also other heroes which do the same if allowed such as Ragnaros but can be denied the ability to do so in some matchups.
