I have a truly abysmal winrate on this hero. Played him 12 games ever and won 2 of them. Every time I play him I feel like I’m not contributing as much as I should be, especially since he’s generally considered overtuned.
Can anyone give me tips on how to play him properly?
first off, practice your Loot Hoard into Q combo in try mode. Once you can land it consistently, you have a consistent burst combo that stuns.
secondly, realize that you should basically never engage and START the fight with E. Use it in teamfights for either escaping (unstoppable + fast) or chasing weak foes.
Finally, the easiest build to play is probably the [3331213], which essentially increases his self-sustain and burst from D → Q combo. Pummel is always too good to pass up unless enemy team is entirely slow AA uses (in which case Dust Devil is probably better). Shockwave can be good but ping-ponging between Hoardapult and Trait with E can rack up massive damage. No Control is a crazy tool for finishing kills.

You can clear a lot of camps easily if you place D right so you can E endlessly.
With every laner, your job is mostly to just soak. Maybe try to be annoying as well, but overall don’t engage a brawl/duel.
You have poke so another reason not to hard engage first.
Always keep one escape tool (E, Hoardapult) until you sure you guys can win the fight.
