It doesn’t matter the map. It doesn’t matter the team comp. It doesn’t matter how good you think you are. Alarak is one of those heroes that, when played at its highest skillcap, will hard carry almost every single game no matter what. You never know when and where an Alarak player may show up and past Platinum, people will use him to climb the ranks incredibly fast.
Am I the only one who seeks enjoyment when a balanced hero reveives talent changes that propel that hero into the “strong, but definitely not OP” status?
I never get used to Alarak or Fenix mains in high MMR. They are hard to play against with any comp. Sure you can taunt or stun them but that applies to any hero. They are terrifying to play against.
I try to remember which players pick them then ban or ask to ban if possible.
I also fear good Samuro mains. They just feel unbeatable.
Well… this is a phrase often used by our Highlord, but… imo it’s not true.
There are a lot of Heroes who can 1v1 him.
“But it’s a teamgame! Teamfights?” I know, I know… Alarak has burst. Burst has counters. Alarak has CC, CC has counters. Alarak’s CC is basically only Silence, there are Heroes who don’t care much about Silences.
Alarak is also a Melee Hero who can’t and shouldn’t stay in Melee and if his combo is down, he’s basically a sitting duck which requires his team for protection.
His dmg is also hindered heavily after a death.
Alarak is a good Hero, it’s fine to ban him from time to time.
But imo, he’s not a true first ban material and especially not the “uncounterable counter of all” as ppl like to believe.
To some degree this is true. But a LOT of Alaraks take it to the point to then hide behind the healer and the ranged assassins which is beyond frustrating.
As a healer, I hate overly passive Alaraks, oh noes my stacks! You don’t have to tank everything, but if the tank is peeling the majority of the enemy team, the Alarak can run interference in melee on some of the rest. It is actually my job to protect people, so stop being a complete coward.
But yeah, I would say this is generally a platinum and lower problem.
Personally, what upsets me more is when you see the enemy team has a good Alarak and your team is unable to focus on him to at least reduce the sadism and not allow him to just destroy us all the time.
Sure, a good Alarak will ALWAYS be a big issue and I agree that he can carry easily in some cases but you can also shut him down, especially in lower ranks. Unfortunately, not everyone sees that and just enjoys randomly brawling and allowing Alarak to punish us without breaking a sweat.
You guys dissapoint me a lot, except for you Karabars, you are cool.
Firts of all, I’ll not bother with OP but I’ll try to slap some sense to the rest of you.
Sigh… Have you heard of Raynor, Zul’jin, E.T.C, Li Ming, Li Li, Tracer, Varian, Cho’gall, Zagara, Hammer, Chromie, MEDIVH, Sonya, Gazlowe, Valeera, Anub’arak or Stukov.
Indeed.
Yea, Medivh players knows this quite well.
That’s because you are a Tass main.
You are comedy genius!

Ok people, i’ll give you a cool advice. Don’t pick 2 tanks or a tank and 2 bruisers when you are drafting against an Alarak, just pick a lot of damage and that’s the trick. Mostly of my wins in ranked with Alarak are because my foes pick 2 tanks or 3 bruisers, so don’t do that. Also pick your fights and stop dying for any stupid reason. Level 100 (without stimpacks) Alarak player out.
