they are less likely to encounter the few heroes they know. ARAM is a great mode for a realistic sandbox of the basic playstyle but it needs to be more newbie friendly.
Honestly the ARAM mode is the closest thing HOTS has to a training mode (in non vs AI environments)
I’m pretty sure that’s whole the point of brawls. Otherwise they wouldn’t restrict the picks at all.
I don’t think it’s a good thing to get players to restrict themselves to the same character(s) over and over.
ARAM to me is the farthest from a training mode. It teaches players to do nothing but fight. And doesn’t teach the most important thing in the game. Playing the map.
Personally I like the way LoL handles this in ARAM
You can reroll your choice with the click of a button. You can store up 2 charges for this, and have to refill these by playing the mode. So you can’t abuse it every match. Plus when you hit reroll, the one you had before is added to a pool where anyone else on your team can swap out for them.
Here they could easily implement it to simply reroll your 3 choices. Or being able to choose one of the 3 heroes it gave you and reroll them specifically.
Also yes i’m down for hero trades being available for ARAM as well.
You pick talents according to your comp, the enemy comp and which map you’re in. ARAM doesn’t teach builds. It just tells you to pick quest talents to stack on enemies. The best talents there are often those I would never pick elsewhere.
As far as combos go, since your team is random you don’t exactly plan combos. And most players don’t even take it seriously so just random pick.
This, and perhaps a slightly more intelligent hero selection which takes heroes’ win rates in ARAM into account. The game is not even remotely balanced around ARAM, so if I get Kael’thas, Murky, and Valeera as choices it’s not even a choice.
Maybe give a choice between heroes in a similar win bracket for their role and then mirror that on the opposing team - one team gets a player with a selection of 3 nukers, the other gets the same; one team gets a player with a selection of 3 “weaker” heroes, so does the other.
Which exact heroes would still be random, but it would help keep things somewhat fair and eliminate “must pick” situations at the same time.
That video was so funny.
I doubt we’ll get something like that before we get aram as a separate game mode.
I’d rather they introduce swaps in ranked first along with damn clan system.
