Can we please have a choice to reset 1 x current talent choice but with a like a 5 second cooldown if a talent has been chosen?
For example:
Lvl 4 hits: Varian chooses TB instead of Taunt and he’s like … oops wrong talent. But there’s an option available to pick the other talent within 5 seconds of choosing TB.
1 x Talent choice reset per game
- 5 second CD and CD will activate once a talent has been chosen
- can only be used on the current level talent not previous
- Talent choice (tab window) will be visible once the 5 seconds is up

Agree, there should be a talent reset in a certain window after the pick, unless the ability which is buffed by the talent was used. Happens to the best of us

you are assuming twin blades wasn’t their intention. Admirable.

This would be broken and abused very much.
If you pick a wrong one . It sucks but its fair
If I cast pyro and then change it back.
Or temp loop , reghar takes cleanse because of it but no its slowing sands now!
Rexxar trows a flare in the opening clash but its the other talent now

It will also remove the point of trying to counter talent picks…I think…

Then, another condition should be added: “if the ability is used, it cannot be changed” or change it from 10 to 5 seconds to change it.
If KT picks pyro by accident but he used it, the 5 seconds is gone and he is stuck with pyro.
If any hero decides to use an ability before the timer is up, they can’t cause it’s 5 seconds and they are stuck with it.
If it’s changed to 5 seconds, the enemy can’t wait 5 seconds once an ability is picked?
We all been there, picking a wrong talent which may have thrown off your play style and possibly the game.

Nope. That’s a terrible idea.

While I can appreciate some forgiveness for the occasional missclick or wrong button press on the talents but I don’t see much reason for it. I think I picked the wrong talent a couple of times and while it could be immensely annoying I don’t think it effects so many people more than this just being a perception thing. You WILL remember those odd times when you couldn’t perform because you chose the wrong talent and you WILL remember even MORE when your teammate went for the wrong build. It’s how brains are wired, we have an increased dominance to remembering the extraordinary.
I just don’t see much point.
That being said I expected talent rerolling. Kinda like how some may sell their items in other MOBAs to buy something else. That would wreck the game as others claim it. I can see a system that could enable this and it’d turn the talent system into something more like where you can acquire traits for set point values. But we live in an era of the game where players might not even adopt to the XP Globes, much less this. So yeah, it’d be terrible.
You are correct. I had a different sequence of events in my head.
Or better yet, the talent will show once the 5 second timer has ended. And I had my fair share of waiting until the enemy has picked their talent. 5 more seconds isn’t hurting anyone.
Edit: I remember I was ming and there was Anduin. I was waiting for him to pick Salvation (if he did) and I would pick Wave of Force to counter it. He gave in at level 12 and picked salvation where I picked Wave of Force lol.

The only thing I can think of is, when you choose a talent, you MAY have to stop your actions to make sure the talent you choose doesn’t get locked in because you used a skill that involves it.
I’m super slow to pick my talents because I play this game casually, but I have no idea when others choose their talents. During combat? When they have a moment to breath? Traveling?
Depends on the hero for me. I pick during combat in most cases with heroes that I’m used to and I’m certain of what talents I’m going to pick this match, using Ctrl+1-4 as a shortcut. It can make a big difference to instantly have a new talent, especially an ult, the moment you reach the necessary level.

What if they cast it accidentally? Since we’re about to get forgiving with accidents when regarding talentpicks why not forgive other misclicks and mistakes?
The thing is, we need to draw the lines at one point and I think we already did that with the “no talent switch” thing we have atm.
Ppl can improve at “pick what you actually want”. Like in the last whole year I misclicked once. It’s doable to not mess this up.
So overall I see no actual pros but cons against this suggestion (like potential abuse for one).

About 2 times in my case plus at least twice that amount of games when I disconnected and by the time I did reconnect the AI picked a completely different set for me. My playstyle suffered massively because of these but I don’t think it swung the battle too much. I think out of these matches I won at least half of them still.
I have been playing since late alpha, i have north of 15k games. I have picked the wrong talent less than 5 times. This would be abused amd abused hard core.
In the case for varis level 4, no way in hell should he get a change, since even if he presses no buttons he can get value in more health. One could easily hold off on picking blades or smash to surive gank with tuant then once behind the gate swap. Trust me people will do this. He is not the only hero that gets something for free in a talent
TB is never the wrong talent

Ok, I could see it if when you hit 20 you could change 1 pre-10 talent. Otherwise, I see the game becoming far more complicated than already is. Sure, I missclick occasionally, (more like muscle memory), but usually not. And I don’t think it’s made a difference in games. I could also see griefing skyrocket when people insist that you change your talent because you chose the “wrong” one.
That being said, changing a lower ranked non heroic talent when you go up a tier would be a cool trait for a Zerg hero.
How can a talent re-select within 5 seconds can be abused? I see the reporting system being abused and I see chat being abused.
Pros:
- Players don’t accidentally stuff up their build
- It’s a safety net that devs say to players: “hey, that’s ok you mis-clicked a talent, here’s a safety net but you get to use it once, don’t mess it up”
Tho, they too should know they only have 5 seconds to reselect. They should know that typing or even saying in voice chat they picked the wrong talent takes more than 5 seconds. Also the player needs to be in the player talent table when they level up and stalk the player, highlight the talent and then speak to the player they picked the wrong one… by then 5 seconds has already passed.
Even then, if someone is vocal about picking the wrong talent to another player, there’s nothing they can do, even if this idea was implemented, there’s nothing the player can do given the 5 second time frame. It will be the same thing.
So for 5 seconds after you choose you can re-choose? And then you are locked in forever?
Yes, you are given 1 chance in a game to re-choose a talent.
