AI Bots patch revert?

Can the changes to bots in the last two updates maybe just be reverted? I mean their just awful now. Sure this would put them back to the insane mercenary clearing squad that would 5 man clear the whole map of merc camps every few minutes but at least that psycho squad was pushing and trying to do something. The bots right now spend half of every game just standing under the towers afk style doing nothing. Every single elite game now ends in less than ten minutes with the bots behind usually 3-4 levels just completely destroyed.

if anything, the BOTs need a complete rework. Preferably with a learning AI

This. The problem doesn’t go back 2 patches, they started being completely idiotic 1+ year ago with very few exceptions.

Was taking a camp with a butcher AI because had the bad fortune of a person queing up and then literally leaving in the first 10 seconds.

The AI literally stood behind me afk the entire fight and occasionally did a hamstring, rather than walking around me to fight the mobs.

Haha! There are AI built to learn for video games (with limits of course) example not falling for the same human made ambush

And before that time the AI had other issues, like not understanding how to play around new heroes for a couple of weeks to a month. For every single new hero being released or reworked. Back then the AI would happily clump up around D.Va’s MEKA as it was warming up an explosion. They’d stop to fire off a skill while in the center of Kel’Thuzad’s Frost Nova or a Probius Warp Rift. They’d ignore Murky’s Pufferfish and so on.

They have gained a new type of stupidity, but now they’re at least “competent” when it comes to skill usage and playing around opposing skillshots/deployables. Then again, sometimes they play too much around opposing skillshots/deployables that a skilled player would ignore.

Yes, the BOTs almost go out of there way to avoid any damage now. Siege up a Hammer, and they will dance at your max range
So now, instead of using those skill shots for damage you can just deny them any presence wherever you are. And accomplish whatever you want

But the issue of AI ignoring you, you damaging them outside of a lane while laneing. Has been around since BETA. I think the HoTs team would benefit from AI learning programs

I am pretty sure they did not get adjusted for the whole xp globe thing. And since they don’t soak, the snowballing just goes on and on.

Ahh thats true and makes sense. That would explain the level difference. I don’t really expect much from bots but I can assure everyone the bots were MUCH more functional before the last two updates. They have really gotten worse since then. Depending on your own team they could force level 20 games and even won one here and there if your team was potato enough. That is just not happening anymore under any circumstance every game is a complete blowout.

Not just 2 patches. They broke their A.I. since patch 43.

As a matter of fact, Tracer’s A.I. is STILL broken; they never touched her a single time since patch 43.

You would have to go farther back than 2 or 3 revs. I think it was late 2017 early 2018 when the bots really improved and were playing decently. Their winrates were up 1 or 2 percent (which for AI here is pretty good) . But then it just became a :poop: show.

AI needs to be more aggressive. Elite AI wastes >75% of its damage potential not dealing damage and instead running around like a headless chicken all over the map. For example Elite AI Tracer being chased by Deathwing with Heat Wave talent will not even bother to auto attack back at him while running around him mindlessly until she usually dies.

The frequency with which I can 1v5 elite AIs because they don’t have permission to AA me for unknown reasons is disturbing. Not to mention the amount of time the AIs stand around on the battlefield, presumably insulting each other in chat. Hey, they learned from the best I guess.

Some dudes made bots that defeated Pro esport contenders in 1 v 1 dota 2, we are getting there.

I just played an AI game in Alterac and witnessed my “teammates” stand around the objective (without capping it) for literally 20 seconds. Meanwhile the other team (also AI) capped theirs and won the objective.

How does that even happen? It makes zero logical sense.

This happens all the time in full VS AI games. I once had someone say this is “because the enemy team is all AI and can work together but your AI has to try to figure out how to work with a human” which is just the lamest excuse.

AI currently will do things like sit out of range of towers while you have a minion wave and then dive as soon as the wave dies and take shots head on then when you drop a warning ping they will flee in the direction of the warning towards the keep/fort and die.

AI will start capturing objectives and repeatedly stop at 90%. They will abandon merc camps after killing everything and leave the camp just sitting there waiting for someone to walk over it and get it for free. They will choose to fight the boss instead of going for the objective and then wipe or one decide to go for the obj once they are all down to 10% health and have no chance against the enemy AI that somehow knows how to play.

Devs need to understand that while the AI doesn’t need to be perfect it also needs to not intentionally gimp the team.

Edit: We really also need AI to actually turn in coins/gems. They don’t turn in if you ping for them to, they just defend if you tell them to follow you. I can’t count the number of times where my team had enough for two full turn ins and they just wouldn’t do anything, 58 gems on a single hero and we need 10 but they just keep on hoarding.

The AI we as players get is absolutely the worst! Most of the time they dont attack, they just run back and forth without engaging. And when they do they dont use their abilities usefully.

But the games AI is amazing! They heal and save each other from death with some unbelievable moves. Plus they coordinate their ultimate to land on you so you take the most damage.

The AI needs to be reverted back to when they used to charge out of the gate. They still had their problems but at least they they were useful, not the hot garbage we have now.
