I’ve been playing for 6 and a half years like many of you and have switched entirely over to ARAM. (Too much setup in QM, ranked is its own pain). I love the game and would love to see some additional spice in ARAM. What about adding Cho’gall into ARAM? I know you have to write some specific pain in the buns code on the character select screen for this, but it would be exciting and worth it.
(Actually, programming wise if you could guarantee that only one person could be given the option for Cho and one other Gall, that would solve it, wouldn’t it? All that’s left would be to handle the case where one of the players didn’t agree to play Cho or Gall. To make it super easy to implement, you could randomly select between the two remaining picks. Or with more effort, allow someone to pick a backup character.)
I agree with Chaz, ARAM is fantastic and by far my game of choice. It’s quick, it’s fun, and I would even argue more satisfying to win than QM; while also being less disappointing with a loss.
Even allowing us the quick choice to play all characters in ARAM vs just the ones currently designated.
You could also release old characters to Aram almost as if they are new characters to the game. The game is still very fun to play after all these years!
While I would love to play Cho Gall in a random mode. There are too many comps against which a Two headed giant in a sigle lane just wins. Not much space to dodge all that AoE.
Too much setup in QM meaning poking out getting xp globes, hearthing, running back, etc.
I just miss the challenge of fighting difficult opponents in ARAM. Even hammer. If some didn’t like it, I’d be totally into a banned character mode where every character is a choice. Best of both worlds for all players. Not a crazy amount of implementation time and I’m guessing the player pool is large enough in ARAM to still find fast matches even split between two modes.
I’m not sure how you would get Cho’gall to work in a game mode were people have to select thier hero first. What happens if you pick Cho and the guy who have Gall option dont pick it ?
Then you properly get a Cho with a bot Gall or game tell you to select a new hero casue the other player did not select Gall.
It would have to be either a random hero of the two unpicked choices (easiest solution) or a way to mark another character as a backup (more work for Blizzard). Those are the two solutions I can think of. I’d be happy with random. It’s only aram.
I wouldn’t mind Chogall in aram, but only if he were made a possible option exclusively for 2 person premades. Also it’s long overdue for a return of Leoric. If a player decides to be dumb and backdoor afk on the Keep, that’s within their right, but so is the right of the team to punish such behavior.
Extend the same logic to Abathur, but for premades above a minimum of 3 players. It can be a strong pick with the right build and really fun with the ability to AOE heal the entire team (although at a very low HPS value).
Hammer also might actually work with 2 healer comps.
Result with a random pick for both players, but as I said, that’s why it should be limited for 2 person premades, to avoid this problem entirely.
Another dumb thing about ARAM which could use an improvement is random pick for afk players, if someone hasn’t picked in time, he will be playing the role that is missing, the game already knows this and makes a suggestion by highlighting a hero with yellow ring.
