Hi
i play Heroes Of The Storm 4 years ago and i like play with my friends and with my family, but some of them have Trypophobia and this do not like play this game. To understand it easily short definition about Trypophobia
extreme or irrational aversion to or fear of clusters of small holes or bumps.
From: Oxford dictionary
Then some art of wallpaper of selection heroe menu and background of when heroe is in death state causes them discomfort or even convulsions. Here Some examples
Versus IA Selection menu
- Inside on big sphere have some Hexagons
- Every 3 seconds can see a “line” that moves vertically with multiple Hexagons
In game when hero/player is Death (waiting for respawn)
- On limit left and right of the screen can see some hexagons, this is less problematic than explained above because are more big.
Probably exist more images/art that generate problems to users with this problem.
The question here is, is possible create an option for hidden or change this things?
Thanks

There is literally no way they will do anything about this, in the current state of the game’s support

Find a different game to play if this one causes you some issues.
They are not going to remove anubarak just because i might have arachnophobia.

An option to disable the background, or making it all black isn’t much work really.
but then what about the people with Melanophobia (the fear of the colour black!)
we can’t really spend resources on giving options to accommodate
for every irrational fear and phobia XD
how about we get the option to toggle off the timers, the level indications,
the damage numbers, statistics etc for people with Arithmophobia (the fear of numbers)

i don’t envy people with obscure and irrational fears and phobias,
but unfortunately its just not practical or possible to accommodate for them all!

People have been requesting for full unlocked camera for years.
Disabling the forced camera lock is also extremely little work, and the devs acknowledged this issue in an AMA.
It’s been 3 years since that AMA and it’s still not been done.

can you film your pals convulsing and upload it here? I’d like to die from laughter. do you guys convulse more in some game modes or you’re equally incapacitated in every game mode?
finally, let’s assume you’re undressing your MtF boyfriend and he has polka dots on his underwear. is that convulsion inducing as well?

I’m not dismissing your problems, but I feel safe in stating that realistically you shouldn’t expect a game that is mostly unsupported and considered “classic” to have very specific accessibility options added.

Those people would just not make the screen black.
All fears are irrational.
You’re saying if we can’t fix everything, we shouldn’t fix anything? That basically means stop all research.

I think they should fix many things. Being realistic I don’t see them fixing a problem that effects such a small portion of the playerbase. I’m not insensitive to phobias as I have them myself. I have seen though the history of this game when it was well funded and the lack of improvements made and promises broken.
Now HOTS is classic and is in maintenance mode, small refinements that are to the benefit of a few are unlikely.
probably, but I can only know if I try with this post.
How you tried adjusting your quality settings on your graphics card? A lower setting may make it less obvious.

It is a good option, but some times on accesibility options give options for user with some “disability” such as “color blindness”, Font size and more. Allow an option for disable these “figures” this option should not be a problem
10%-15% on world have this problem.
Le, A. T. (2015). An exploration of trypophobia (Doctoral dissertation, University of Essex).
i only post only about Trypophobia and not for others “phobias”
No, i can’t upload a video.
It should not be funny a negative mental effect of another person, of something that one does not know well why it happens.
Only happens where the game show multple gemotric figures (on this case hexagons)
- Versus I.A Hero Selection
- Quick match Hero Selection
- Draft on Ranked
- Background left and right when heroe is on Death state
I don’t know, I do not have that phobia. I only know that people with this problem, if in an image there are several geometric figures that are very close together (especially when they are very small), it causes them negative sensations such as dizziness, vomiting, etc.
Yes, probably is “mostly unsupported” but i can try.
Yes, low quality is less obvious that figures but still visual there, the solution is making an alternative image for wallpaper on Heroe selection and Draft background (with that accesibilty option).
Trying very hard not to laugh, but then again I probably react similar to pretty much any visual representation of snakes.
Yes, the scaly skin of most reptiles, fish and other animals have patterns of many small geometric shapes that generate problems for a person with trypophobia.
imagine if every human who ever heard a rustling in the bushes went to investigate it, we probably wouldn’t be here XD
fear has its uses!
noes i’m saying how do we decide who to favour?
there are more obvious ones like Arachnophobia, and games like Guildwars 2 have catered to them (they were originally planning on having a giant spider mount but the plan was canned when they thought it would trigger peoples archanophobia)
but besides the obvious ones, how do we descide which irrational fears to cater too?
fear of buttons? fear of snowmen? fear that somewhere there is a duck watching you?
if you cater to one persons irrational fear then someone else will be like “hey! what about me!”
Zagara Crypt Queen Unholy its walking trypophobia and boss on wj
If they try to adjust the game to avoid such consequences, they open themselves to liability if things do not work.
Better to write a warning “this game is not for XXX”. Safer, cheaper, more effective. Especially when low number of audience.
I didn’t say not useful, I said irrational.
You go with what requires little to no resources. Like enabling a blank screen that’s already in the background.
