A Possible HotS Replacement?

So I saw this Pirate thing for WoW on the B-net app but I wasn’t 100% sure what it was and since I’m not actively playing WoW atm I didn’t look into it. I just saw Asmon’s vid on it and it’s a battle royale.
My brain just snaped to “Fortnite!? But WoW!?”
Now at this time, this new game mode isn’t going to have me stumble back into WoW but if you know the history of Fortnite it’s the thought of what could happen in the future is what excites me!
if they did something to disconnect this mode from WoW and made it it’s own thing and NOT have it be something for mobile only, I’d be all over that! YEAH BABY! Are you kidding me? No way I wouldn’t participate in something like that!
As far as replacing HotS, they wouldn’t do a full shut down of this game (I don’t think?) But on a personal level I can see myself starting to spend more and more time in a World of Warcraft themed Fortnite!
So for me it could be a possible replacement for HotS depending what state this game is in if the dominos fell right for the Battle Royale to get in a position to become it’s own thing!

Trying to weasel into battle royale at this stage in history is admitting you have nothing left to offer/creatively bankrupt.

Well they trashed lore so bad to the point that it is just a joke so the going the route of being cliche game modes is the next logical step.

If they are stepping into the battle royale then they are, as PureBlooded stated, really late to the game, and most likely it will flop. Especially if they put as much effort into advertising it as they did with HotS.

Late to the game thing is blizzard MO so I personally wouldn’t factor that in. If things worked out and it became it’s own game would you not try it if say it was at the very least free to start? That’s what I would do and if I like it that’s when I would throw money at it…if they monetize it and a smart and fair way.

Yes. I firmly believe this was the biggest hurdle HoTS faced. If you’ve devoted so much time and effort learning league of legends why try a new game? Same with fortnight.

Honestly, if Blizz pulls the plug, I’ve got a menagerie of console games I probably need to get to playing.

Right now, I’m just enjoying the fact I can get everything in HotS for free before they fully shut it down.

I would just stick to probably FPS by that point, HotS is just a game that clicked to me really hard, now it’s that one or Rainbow Siege.

And Siege is clicking well for me this season.

If HotS is gone, I’m back to strategy and rpg games (wow, as if HotS was a merge of the two I like :open_mouth: )

FPS games make me motion sick. :frowning:

I would probably start playing way too much Elite:Dangerous. The original Elite, years and years ago, was my original gaming addiction, and I can see the MMO version being even more addicting. MUST HUNT PIRATES!

It’s not for everyone for sure, I remember my dad was a shooter player in his 30/40s that goes all the way back Half Life and Counter Strike days but getting old really showed those side effects since he recently turned 54.

Also he thinks the screen is a window and would lean his entire head thinking he will see more. That and of course seeing him unable to handle the screen and his eyes would water and feel sick forward on.

I jump across different games outside of hots to make myself feel anything.

Deep Rock Galactic (at Haz 5 difficulty), Team Fortress 2, Rainbow 6 Siege (if I am invited), Dead by Daylight (a toxic hell mostly with both sides blaming each other, but something makes me play it). Rarely Dota 2 or LoL. Sometimes do single player games.

In Hots I do try different heroes sometimes. Mostly I fail.

If the HotS servers are shut down, It’s back to Quake, Doom, and Diablo 2 for my leisure time activities.

I’d have to find some other way of sending you guys dad jokes. Hopefully they don’t shut this forum down.

I have plenty of games I could go back to with a wishlist full that I could get if HotS were to close down. A heavily modded Skyrim and L4D2 would keep me busy for a while.

pirate stuff and some of the top comments

I suppose that explains why none of the content creators have said anything negative about Plunderstorm (speaking of content creator tournament)

That prize money could have been spent hiring someone to improve the game.

Honestly speaking, nothing wrong with the game mode itself, it is not a complete disaster and the gameplay is both smooth and simple, but this wasn’t something anyone was expecting or hoping for, so the worst part is probably developers claiming the patch has been based on player feedback.

Also completely random, humorous at times and super low effort on the player part, perfect stream content, considering how low the standard has fell.

If you ask me, not many people are playing or watching this for the actual PVP (humble opinion based on popularity of arena or rbg streams) but instead for cosmetic rewards and is ludicrous to have expected someone to invest 80 hours into unlocking everything.

Meanwhile the main game is in shambles, like literally please check out the bug report and tech support forums. Personally I like pirate stuff but won’t be touching this for some time just to see them nerf the grind by threefold within a week’s time. They already did but still expecting someone to play around 100 matches of a time limited event is completely crazy. Pure FOMO BS while they’re done an absolute minimum of work in preparation of the last season of the expansion.

Now the feedback is signaling them players love this based on engagement metrics alone (despite overwhelmingly negative forum reactions). Good job on baiting that single subscription fee only to send the players to your competitors by at the end of the month. Everything about this is at conflict with what wow or any other mmo is or should be about. If anyone had to choose between this and Fortnite, they wouldn’t bother downloading 110gb of data only to access this one map.

You just sparked a childhood memory of mine when i was introducing video games to my older cousin. Everytime she made mario leap on my Gameboy she would rise up out of her chair and motionally guide the Gameboy by lifting it up into the air.

My brother and i found it hilarious.

Speaking of which, are there any decent mobile games that actually use motion detection? Im keen to try new things.

I unfortunately don’t know anything about the mobile industry outside of clearly “family friendly” mobile ads people get on youtube that is just “Elsagate” but video games.

Form what I heard it only being in World of Warcraft is just the testing grounds or not…but it would be silly for them to not make it it’s own game but also want to draw in more players with this new mode. But that’s just a theory!

If you like tower defenses with top tier story telling, I recommend Arknights.

The worst part is how none of the content creators and streamers dared to say a single bad word about it. To everyone’s surprise, 60 of of them got invited/paid to play in the promo event disguised as tournament. No this didn’t just happen by accident in the last 24 hours because everyone on Twitch is playing it, there was an announcement of another announcement on Monday. Really it is kind of shocking how much effort and money is thrown at this low effort attempt at something new and if only it had received as much attention during development time it could have been something much greater that wouldn’t need to rely skin rewards as encouragement for 95% of the player base.

Blizzard is so desperate for attention they had to put a ® on the game mode title, as if they discovered hot water when they are about a decade late to the genre.

Suddenly everyone is a fan of PVP, when in fact a guy picking his nose at youtube videos with face camera and wow in background has an audience of 5000 and there is not a single wow arena pvp stream with over 50 to be found. Even wow classic streams consisting of low level boar farming have significantly more.

We as viewers are complete morons with no self respect, neither version of the game is that popular any longer and people stay for the personality of the person on screen, not their skill or quality of the product itself. It’s like listening to a radio while driving, but while playing, you know, background noise. Influencers are running the show and dancing to the hum of dollars running down the pipe.

They’ve got a new wow drop planned for today and next few days. Some idiot executive will think their Blunderstorm is a great success so nothing about wow will improve in the foreseeable future. Can’t wait until they start selling 25 USD t-shirts with the logo.

Oh oh! Belluar is have a real discussing about this right now live if you are interested

Warcraft BR talk
I have a feeling they will have more to say on it then just “oh this looks good or bad”
