A guide to new features of the new forums

I think most rules here do apply the same into the new Overwatch forums but I will spit them out anyways.

Levels:

There’s a level system which affects the following:

  • How many likes you can give**
  • How many comments you can make*
  • How many topics you can create*
  • Posting links and Preview***

*Refreshes daily.
**Refreshes daily for each like
***Does not apply to YouTube/blizzard links, level 1 users can post them as much as they want

The only things known about when it comes to how you level up is by simply being active, reading topics and posts, giving likes. TL;DR being an active member in the forums (Mind = :b:lown) but you can see what level you are right now by looking into your .json file of you profile, simply click on your portrait → your name that appears → on the top take your

https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/heroes/u/[User-Id]

and add .json at the end.

Will look something like this:

https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/heroes/u/[User-Id].json

My .json profile:
https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/heroes/u/SamiSha-21578.json

Now to figure out which level you are, open your search word toolbar (Ctrl + F in Google Chrome)

You will be searching for trust_level.

In trust_level there’s a number attached to it, you should have both _0 and _1 attached.

The highest trust_level number means what level you are right now on the forums.

When you pass another level, your .json file get updated with a another line and if you do the same search result you should be expecting trust_level_2 and then trust_level_3.

The levels that are known so far are Level 1, 2 and 3.

First 2 levels don’t give much other than the ability to post, comment and give likes more than you can before, trust level 3 is so far considered the highest level giving the player the ability to post links and show previews of images, posting images/gifs to the forums directly and embedding videos.

Silence and Suspensions in game Suspend you on the forums

This isn’t a new thing as it was already implemented in overwatch:

In line with our priority to minimize toxicity in Overwatch, players who are silenced or suspended in-game will not be able to post on the new forums. We will be reviewing and updating our current rules and guidelines so forum enforcement may seem stricter than before (for example, players will no longer be able to bump their posts or threads). Players who contribute to the forums in a constructive way will be granted additional features and permissions such as link previews, images, gifs, and embedded video posting.

So yes, if you questioning right now why there isnt a single post screaming I got silenced/suspended is because of this feature.

I want to note that Forum suspensions could also (sometimes) lower or remove your trust level back to 0.

HTML Format Support

To people who post long topics, you all gonna love this a lot.

The forums supports as the title said, HTML format, I don’t really want to go into topic over how to do every single format, because it will take a lot of time to write all of it, but I will leave this helpful guide that was stickied in the Overwatch forums:

Full credit goes to the author.

That’s all! I hope you found this helpful, if you have any more questions please feel free to ask.

Edit: Added a small example in the .json part.

Edit 2: Added missing info.

Thank you for taking time in writing an exaustive explanation.

I wish I could request a sticky for it.

Hey thanks a lot for that, made my night for sure.

If it works like the Overwatch forums, then that’ll be nice. Being able to post images and such by being a trusted member will be welcomed <3

I can’t like posts for some reason

Maybe you ran out of likes

Oh wait now I get it, each like refreshes daily, not all of them at once.

SMH who designed this system.

Yeah, it is REALLY annoying. Each like is on its own separate timer, which is “irritating” :stuck_out_tongue:

DO you mean 50 likes per 24 hours = a like in every 28 min and 48 sec?

Good grief, I can’t wait to get to level 2 and hope this crap doesn’t annoy me anymore.

Nope, basically even if you liked 50 different posts in different time you gotta wait 24 hours for each like to have the ability to like more, just imagine a bunch of fuel tanks where each tank getting used separately in a different time in the day and each tank requires 24 hours to recharge back to be useful.

That’s the like system in a nutshell.

Edit: Flinx explained it better.

No. You get a pool of 50 likes. When you use the first like, that individual like will be available 24 hours later. Then when you use another like, that individual like will be available 24 hours later.

As an example, lets say, starting at noon, you use 1 like a minute until you run out at 12:49. You then wont have any more likes available until noon the next day, when you will suddenly have 1 like available, then another at 12:01, until you have all 50 back at 12:49 again, assuming you didn’t use any during that hour.

Now that may not sound that bad, but it would be SO much nicer if they just refreshed all of your likes at the same time (such as at midnight, or 24 hours after using your first like) or, better yet, didn’t put a limit on likes at all.

I see. Well I don’t really care that much about likes but it could get annoying when I actually run out for some reason. Level 3 would be nice though. To embed images and videos.

It seems this rule doesn’t apply to YouTube links.

Oh Youtube is so simple. No embedded code needed, just the URL. :hushed:
