60 fps in-game cap even when monitor and game support 175 Hz

In last month or so, the game has been “stuttering”. When I look at in-game FPS it’s capped at 60 fps. However, my monitor and my GPU easily support 175 Hz, and have been running at that for a year + now without issues.

While the game allows me to select 175 Hz, the first game may be at 175 Hz. By the second game it’s back to 60 Hz. I notice that switching between game and desktop seems to trigger it, too.

It’s definitely a bug that was introduced recently; last few months. I was hoping it just get fixed, but given the length of the issue reporting now in hopes of raising awareness since it feels like an unintentional regression.

Make sure to set your desktop refresh rate to 175 Hz under windows display properties. The fullscreen optimisation of Windows must not be handling the refresh rate properly, likely due to the age of HotS.

Note that menus and load screens will usually always cap at 60 FPS.
