well, for the single preseason it could have been. i have been around since closed alpha so its definitely possible! however, imo i believe it would been in probably the open beta before launch if anything. they didnt erase ppls accounts after going to that phase.

i never thought paying to set up a team felt odd myself. it felt analogous to other games where you have to pay to use the arena. so didnt feel off to me and it probably made ppl think about it more tbh.

yep thats exactly how it worked. i got a few games out of my team in and then said “screw this… its hopeless trying to get all of us together at the exact same time all the time.”

i am glad its not like that anymore where you have to register a team… but at the same time like i said i dont feel like the gold payment ever felt odd. in fact if the asked ppl to pay gold to play Storm League i wouldnt find it odd. i mean current quest rewards more than cover that so if you actually play you make that back and more. just might make some ppl think for second about it. especially new accounts

in fact i would set it up like this. give ppl a choice:
pay gold per game played (5g per play)
or
season pass pay for the whole season (1000g)

i would go with the season pass myself. just because i know in my use case its better.

If this game is about to die, then i guess i better play even more while it’s still here.

My Hammer & Azmo have pretty much been on a quest to destroy as many peeps as possible, while the game is still on anyway.

That’s basically my attitude, enjoy Hots while you can. I don’t play as much as I did in the past, but it’s still fun, as long as you are realistic and don’t expect new content, and accept there are issues that arise due to player base decline.

I would like to believe that, but with the MS acquisition, anything is possible.
