1 year, that's how long I predict this game has left

If you can’t tell an exact day for the closure, may be with a margin of error of up to 10 days or so. Whatever you predict is nothing more than nonsense.

Ranked in shambles
No new heroes since the beginning of the year
merging servers in non european regions
literally the joke of the industry
moved to classic game designation

k bud.

A competetive game without a price pool a pro can live off is IMO considered dead.

If there are no full time pro’s the game isnt played at the highest level anywhere.

That’s already the case the best players have left.

What’s left is a bunch of clowns.

This game certainly has more steam left in it, compared to some other games that never even got the attention they deserved.
Can we get an F for GIgantic?

my tip is around 2024.?!..26? hots 3.0 will came out around that time.

wow, stunning decline

just get out. game will be around for as long as blizzard is. not every game of theirs has to be a profit maker for them to keep it.

and the standard that a game needs to have a professional gamer scene with people competing for million dollar prizes and lots of TEH TWITCH VIEWZ in order to not be “dead” is so laughable. the fact is, we are still here, there are thousands of us, we play HotS, and we have fun. the end.

I’m not sure why but a lot of master tier streamers still are part of a sponsored team despite not queuing up together

I disagree. I have nowhere near the amount of fun I had when I could queue and play with people of the same skill.

Now its super rare to not be banning and having the highest mmr in my games. Its hard to find other similar people to play with and even if I push to the limit in ranked I never find allies that understand drafting or macro play the way I do imo.

Ofc I also face competent people and I also see people better than me. But its not that often.

The good people have left the game.

2 of my best hots buddies play lol now. I have gona back do dota2 a while ago but since dota2 is the biggest aids game ever I decided to play a bit of heroes every now and then still when I have the time between the one or the other BR game.

Heroes is dead doesnt mean servers are shut down.
But a revival is impossible now. Activision cant be trusted.

why was this revived… 1 freaking year laterrrr :sob: you should have waited till 2021 or 2022 to revive it :sob:

Brawls have actually been some of my most competitive online gaming experiences ever. Would be cool if they built a draft mode for brawls, or maybe just offered a single lane map in unranked draft for one minute at the top of every hour…

These 2 things combined are both the case in tf2 aswel, yet it is still well alive. The problem is that its only fun for a diffirent group of players (the slightly less skilled).

It is the very same reason i stopped playing tf2. The only way i could chalenge myself was by making an MvM map, and testing missions on it. I could always bump up the numbers to a limit it became too hard to defend.

But even here, once you exceed a certain skillset, because valve wasnt adding new features for MvM, there was no way to make a decent mission without artificial boosts to enemy HP values (which in MvM is in many cases a horrible thing to do regarding balance, unless there was a decent way to indicate this increase outside of using an icon).

A game will eventualy die for certain players, but the game itself might still last quite some time after those have left.

Thats why i wouldnt be surprised if this game is still alive in 3 years, but the GM level then might have shifted to low master. And diamond becomes gold quality (again).

did you look for this or have you been keeping track? kudos either way, i think…

For someone who hasn’t liked this game for a while, you sure do like coming to these forums every now and then

well, i mean they started out as one… and now they have returned to one. they just needed some time apart to realize they needed to be together as one gamemode

in 3 years they will have deleted the forums again

There was TL initially as well next to HL - you had to pay 500 gold to create a roster of 10 people and 5 of them had to be in your team for you to be able to queue. The ranks went from 50 to 1 just like in HL.

The TL rank was also team specific - you could be ranked up just by your friends ranking up your team. You could create up to 3 teams or be in 3 teams at once (rank was team specific, meaning you could have 3 different TL ranks!).

Needless to say, this game mode was extremely dead.

nah, initially there was just the single preseason ranking which lasted a long time while blizzard was figuring out how they wanted to do things. players complained kind of like they do now, again, about premades vs randoms and how unfair things are. how they should be separated.

then after that the rankings got separated and we ended up with the official HL and TL leagues.

edit: also, yes i had forgot about that til you reminded me . i actually remember setting up a team and paying the gold.

Then I don’t know how early HotS you are talking about (closed alpha testing?) since that screenshot is from the public launch month. The game has never existed in public without both HL and TL. The TL with roster systems was just extremely unpopular.

And having to pay 500 gold to play the mode just felt weird.

I remember that, it gave you a purple rank in the profile. One of your teams could be Rank 37, one at 50, one at 12 and so on… And if your friends were offline you couldn’t play it lol. Or you had to invite more people to your team and register them.

I wonder who came up with this at Blizzard…

Yes. And you also had like 2 characters in that year, and barely any skins. I wasn’t playing since 2018, and logging in to HOTS after a break I saw that they literally added ZERO maps, Zero skins that I could see, and, like, 3 new characters?

Compare it to BEFORE Blizzcon 2018 where we were getting a new character basically every 3-5 weeks, and skin-packs or map updates generously sprinkled in between.
This wasn’t enough. Because Blizzard’s attitude towards banning AFK/Griefers was always that it is too mean to punish a player for simply playing bad - which led to good players quitting in frustration and it’s a circle that creates more griefs, more AFK, more frustration and less and less players willing to play.

And you are saying this game isn’t dead?

I mean, technically it isn’t. People are playing it. People will likely be playing it in 3-5 years still.
But the number of those people? Laughable. The quality of updates? Next to non-existent. The quality of support? Completely abandoned title.

So yeah. The game may not be empty, but it is basically a corpse that Blizzard are milking with minimum effort as long as it gives back any money whatsoever.

That’s how HOTS feels like.

Blizzard butchered this game by their hands-off attitude in regards to very serious problem of people outright griefing games and/or going AFK which went COMPLETELY unpunished no matter how many reports you make. Compare that to LoL where screwing up badly enough and getting a report from 4 members of your team can actually see you banned from playing competetive modes alltogether. And BTW “PVP Blind” which is an analog of quick match is considered among those modes. Where quitting or disconnecting from a game automatically bans you from playing more for 10-30-60 minutes and all the way towards perma-ban.

That’s already the case. GM back then was basically all pro players or super grinders with enough skill.

But technically only Pros had the required winrate.

Now the skill between ex-pro’s and your random 7-8k+ master player are huge.

If you care for winning in diamond be prepared to get your mood ruined by trolls in almost half of your games.
