Most fun card. It took developers most time to implement this card. This card should be moved to new core set, with updated rules.

I agree. I think he helps deck diversity by acting as essentially a sideboard.

I think it’s fine to include him. The core set continues to change. So whether he’s in this round or the next it’s fine. He’ll eventually disappear.
That’s the great thing about a core rotation that’s actually a rotation. Good cards come and go. We don’t always see them. We don’t always rely on them. But they are there for a while.

If highlander mage would be good enough - in top meta, I guess mage players wouldnt mind it being boring.
Quest mage in wild plays kinda same - generate random crap. Ideally freeze and iceblocks, freeze, freeze, iceblock, freeze, freeze. … play quest and win. And I havent seen mage players talking about how its boring to play it over and over again, month after month after month…

It’s not even that Highlander is good or bad. Is that the sole schtik mage was allowed to retain for actually winning since, IDK, Uldum, was highlander. God, i can barely see reno smug face anymore.
@topic Enough is enough, i’m sick and tired of having to bait the enemy whole sidedeck because he has a swiss army knife of a card and my sole defense against it is to generate enough pressure that he needs to wipe my board instead of killing me with it, and then generate enough presssure gain.
I’m tired of making a plan against druid or warlock or priest and then he has another extra board wipe or damage finisher because seems like it was a highlander deck folks! I could rant for an hour.
Also, non-highlander decks running Zephrys.

If HL mage would be one of the best decks in standard, do you think they would be so sick of it?
As I have said - there are deck that are played in wild for years where you just change some card here and there but the core and the gameplay of the deck stays the same.
Oh and I agree its a boring deck.
Thats a good point. I like the card but it is polarizing and the meta could probably use a break from it.

There used to be times were highlander mage was actually game breaking and the interesting part is…
Due to it’s extremely volatile nature that deck can literally lead to more than 30 variations and every time mages get a powerplay card you need to think “what if highlander mage tried that?”.
Just design around highlander mage to not break the game is enough to transform mage in a one deck class.

Nope. Highlander is exactly the type of deck I never want to see again. Retire to wild and live there forever.
No to Zephrys. That thing belongs in a game even more casual than this one. If you want a “Get out of jail free” card, play Monopoly.
