Yet another failed Expansion

Why do they make new stuff when the old stuff they left in the game is too broken for the trolls to quit using? This has turned into yet another gross Pay2win game that was fun at one point but went the greed over fun route.

P2W is false as long all cards are available for all player with free resources, until they put some powerful cards behind a paywall is unfair to call the game P2W.

The powercreep is very real and I am glady they finally take a break from it, but you are right about one thing, the previous stuff is way more powerful than shold be, for this more reasonable expansion had any chance the old cards need a massive nerf.

It’s not at all real, I’m afraid

Nothing points to the existence of that phenomenom from the scientific perspective. No changes in average length of game nor visible trends in metas being faster and faster as a result

I’m sure stuff will be thrown at me because of this, but if those stuff do not include a single indicator or a measure which can prove scientifically objective, then you guys are all out of luck for believing in something non-existant.

In fact, the game has never been more balanced than the last year or so, which shouldn’t be possible if that effect is real.

So, while the superficial, absolute powercreep IS real, and neccessary for the health of the game, the relative powercreep or the effect that phenomenom exerts on the game in the long-term, is non-existant and cancels out.

Oh really? Look old legendaries original forms and the recent ones adjusted for the creep like Jaraxxus, Dark Knight and Cairne and talk more about that.

P2W is extremely real. You can get the stuff for free if you dont work full time and put hundreds of hours in a month. Of course this will still take several months to accrue the dust for a second deck. But hey, you saved a buck to play one deck for half a year where you can now play 2 decks!

That speaks about the “absolute powercreep” as a phenomenom, which is actually meaningless, because the only important phenomenom with an effect on the game has to be “relative powercreep” (relative as in depending on the other cards and meta as a whole)

It makes sense that cards are getting stronger and stronger, but their relative strength IS EQUAL if the game is balanced (look at the winrates of top decks through expansion ENDS, which is where the meta is most balanced and optimized and boring) - and the game tends to be extremely balanced, with highest winrate decks barely reaching 53% and having 0,01% edge over the 2nd

Hence, relative powercreep, as a measure of powercreep influencing the game, doesn’t exist, and absolute powercreep is as meaningless of a term as “cloudy rain” is. It simply doesn’t let you predict anything, hence, meaningless.

In other words, the cards getting stronger is a zero-sum-game effect that cancels each other between cards and the meta, so there’s nothing inherently damaging in that concept for the long-term (also visible from Wild → I’ve been listening to so much crap about that format, and jsut the other day I went on hsguru, top1k to see how the meta looks like, and it was SOOOOOO SLOW on average, that I was shocked - this whole time I thought games end turn 4 on average there).

Suffice to say they don’t, at least not in the ranks where people know what they’re doing

It is not supposed to get everything for free easy, it is a game with lucrative model in mind, not a charity.

Free players who dedicated a minimum for the game are totally in condition of playing competitive, with at least one deck or two.

I play games it is REALLY PW2 with completely unbalanced stuff behind paywall you can’t get no matter how many hours you play.

HS deserves a lot of criticism, but P2W is false.

FTP player here, haven’t been under 9 star bonus for a long time. It’s a lot of things right now (oh boy, the state of this expansion), but P2W is not one them. Nothing is locked.

sure I will make an argument for p2w with the t-rex pet, the vast majority of players won’t be able to get it without paying.

now I know what you’re going to say… “its only a cosmetic” but it’s part of the game in a section where you have to play to win and you can’t win it without paying.

if you can argue you can earn all of the cards without paying a cent (even though the time investment curve falls off a cliff) then imo we can argue the t-rex thing is the game officially having pay2win mechanics.

It’s absolutely a failed expansion.

I played 2 games, so in overall, 2 games more than I should have.

Sick of the Russian doll concept and can’t believe they’re serving us 2 back-to-back Russian doll expacs

And it seems I’ll be stuck for a long time in the limbo where people are obsessed with jsut such decks

That’s not p2w though, all those are cosmetics, they look pretty, that’s it

is rolling for the trex a game where you can win the item? Yes
in most cases do you have to pay to money to win that item? Yes
can you earn the t-rex in any other way? No

the literal definition of p2w for that portion of the game.

You are absolutely free to argue that. It’s demonstrably silly, mind.

less silly than how much it costs to win the pet! I am surprised there wasn’t more backlash about it

I agree silly :+1: but ‘technically’ accurate.

I think I actually saw someone posted they tried 4 times…just, why? Do the free spin and walk away.

Sidenote: I got a signature thresher with said free spin, tempted to dust it but still isn’t worth the dust

The problem is they fully buff one hero and ignore the others. I stream the game. 40 games today. 36 paladins. Thats the problem. btw: Game is not p2w. It’s just pay to get crap quicker.
