Will Priest have a shot this meta cycle?

Thoughts?

Lots of Priest haters regardless of the deck.
I’m a big fan of Priest but it still looks like their current card selection is a bit weak in comparison despite their strong core cards being introduced.

I still wanna try Silence Priest. That’ll probably be the first Priest deck I make for Voyage, besides maybe testing the waters (LOLOLOLOL) with Shadow Priest.

Depends how aggro is… if the meta is slow enough, Priest now has the best board clear ever printed in HS… if they consistently get to play it and have enough value, Priest will be quite strong.

You’re misunderstanding; Priest often flourishes against metas that have a high Aggro presence, since it often has good aoe tools and has healing somewhat. It can stabilize fairly well if there’s a point where the Aggro pressure ends (i.e. vs Face Hunter, when they run out of cards).

Priest is going to be bad if the Quests are in the meta, since it is the slowest and struggles mightily when it has to actually win the game in a reasonable time frame. None of the new cards address this problem. Drakonid Enforcer returning has potential, but idk that there are enough good dragons out there to support it.

In a meta where Rogue can flip the table with Hooktusk, where Quest Mage could come back, where Burn Shaman still exists, and where Brann comes back into Standard to be played alongside Quest Rewards, I think Priest is actually in a whole lot of trouble if there isn’t a strong Aggro Presence. It definitely will not be the best Slow Deck out there.

From what I’ve seen, I’m going to say no.

For the simple fact that Warlock Mill, Warlock OwlTK 2.0 looks like it’s going to exist and it seems to be faster than OwlTK.

That leaves Priest with aggro or Shadow Priest once again…and that deck is losing most of the tools that made it good.

Verdict: If OTK is prevalent, Priest is dead.

Serpent Wig not a Shadow Spell, Shadow Priest confirmed dead. Probably can’t even do a Naga package.

Shadow Priest is in a really bad spot because there are so few new Shadow spells and all the old ones are rotating out, I feel like silence shadow priest could maybe be a thing, but Azsharan ritual isn’t a shadow spell so it might be kind of limited.

The only thing that looks possible to me is Deathrattle Shadow Priest but I’ve never thought that was that good.

We need to wait for them to print more shadow spells in the miniset and new expansions really.

But honestly, tempo Naga priest looks good frankly. A lot of draw and mana refresh. Able to put a lot of stats on the board. Dragon Priest looks good too. Silence Priest is looking pretty beefy too.

As long as priest doesn’t get a greed/fatigue deck we are good. Personally I hope they put in another aggro deck that is good because the usual priest players don’t like to play it.

My attempt at silence priest.

I’m working on a quest list and Ill at the very least take a look at what’s left of shadow though Im not hopeful.

The problem with silence priest is the same problem silence priest always suffered from: needing multiple cards just to make a single minion good.

And it loses to any deck with removal, which is nearly every deck.

Most of the fairly priced removals gone though, silence priest will be pretty legit.

You’re 100% right and I don’t think the deck will be better than T3-4 at best.

That being said, with stuff like buff paladin and freeze shaman along with all these board effect based cards being released (basically every colossal) silence is pretty nuts and I think maybe a niche in the meta is there. I want to say removal is weaker right now with the set rotations so if there’s a chance for silence priest its probably right now.

Also it’s still probably the best priest deck with shadow priest being so, so bad without raise dead and quest priest 7 and 2 drop spots looking bad.

I think priest will be ok.

We’ve got draw options with the new draw 3 naga and Cleric, Pyro and Acolyte returning, so all is not lost.

I actually like the direction they are trying , doesn’t necessarily mean there will be a good deck, but Silence, dragon and Reno Quest Priest all look like they could be fun.

Switcheroo in Silence Priest could be bonkers!

Looking forward to rock at silverranks with my tier4-priest-decks…

I actually feel that priest has one of the strongest sets this time.

The most crucial problem of priest combo decks (not otk, but smaller combos like silence packages) was limited draw, so less consistency.

But this time around the draw available to priest is completely bonkers. From Northshire and light of Nauru, to Switcheroo, to the 3 cost naga, to acolyte pyro, all options seem insane.

The 1 cost silence + removal is also extremely strong.

And the neutral options like the 7/7 for silence, the starfish, or Ashzara for miracle, or Reno for highlander all compliment priest set quite a bit.

looks weak and boring.

I’m fairly new to the game but have been playing priest exclusively simply because I feel it has been my strongest class so far. At what point does it start to faulter? Also do you recommend any solid priest guides to help me enhance my deck and playing style

Know what else is pretty nuts? Hard removal. Rather have that.

Shard of the Naaru is gonna outperform any other Silence made available to Priest in normal decks because it’s cheap and it’s Tradeable, so the price of running it as a tech card is lessened. So any Silence you look at (for a non-Silence Priest), you have to ask yourself; “Do I want to run 3 Silences?”

You’ll have to embrace a new meta come next week so we’re not all too sure what will happen to the class after this newest expansion.

My recommendation is Kibler on YouTube if you’re looking to find fun decks that have a consistent play style for priest. He’s one of the few left who haven’t given up on the class.
