I’ve tried Secret Mage…and a budget odd mage. (No Luna, Aluneth or DK Jaina).
I’m stuck at R22 (Wild) and decided to give it a real shot but I’m failing miserably. I’ve heard that it’s cheaper than standard…but most decks require legendaries and epics I don’t have.
Are there any Wild F2P competitive decks? Preferably non hunter decks…
Only really require 1 legendary and not many Epics. I can link the OL Even Shaman I run and it doesn’t run any legend other than Genn and I don’t think it runs any Epics but not certain on that tbh
Why do you want a competitive wild deck? You’re only rank 22 is it worth it to just grab whatever cheap f2p deck an try an move up so soon?
Listen to this honest advice. Right now you’re a low rank. Try an have some fun with something before just shooting from the hip an making a goal to ramp up on the ladder.
The reason I tell you this is because I know I’ve heard you talk about how unfun HS can be. An when you ascend up the ranks which I actually believe you will, your budget f2p decks are gonna ruin your mood.
The strongest f2p budget deck is Kingsbane Pirate rogue. As you mentioned not wanting Hunter. It requires basically 2 legendary’s for sure. Those being Kingsbane an Myras Unstable Element. Yeah it could use more but the true core of the deck is cheap.
Really depends. If you are new to hearhtstone then there aren’t really any Free to play wild decks. Wild is no longer a supported format and you can’t get any wild card packs unless you spend actual money in the battlenet store. Unless you have a bajillion dust at your disposal you won’t really be able to craft much. In wild you can honestly climb with a pretty decent standard deck.
You could also try Dragon Inner Fire Priest. Its a combo deck, which I know isnt really your thing but its a pretty aggressive one, and it takes a bit of time to learn. But its pretty cheap and doesnt use too many rotated cards. Especially for someone who used to play Dragon Priest it should be pretty cheap to build if you have the patience to learn it.
Wild is cheaper because it has less upkeep on your decks, not because the decks themselves are cheaper. Think of it this way. You spend 400 dollars on a new laptop that lasts maybe 2 years, but you spend 800 on a laptop that will last 7 years. There are cheap decks that can get you to higher ranks, but it also does require knowing the meta and also the decks you play. Most decks will require at least one or two legendary cards.
Cheap aggro decks. Pirate Kingsbane Rogue, odd Rogue. Mech Hunter. Odd Paladin. Even Shaman. Aluneth Secret Burn Mage. Pirate Warrior. Most of these decks require one to three legendary cards.
Yes, pls check this out @Gwyneth. I havent looked at the decks, only the author, and I can say without doubt that Slizzle is someone worth listening to regarding wild, especially for the more competitively minded players.
I’d still think at Rank 22 Wild you can play a lot of things and get away with it. Don’t even need to have all the defining cards.
The other day I had a “play 30 Paladin cards” quest. I was longing for some Old Dude Paladin (screw Odd Paladin) so I looked up some decklists for ideas and made my own.
To use this deck, copy it to your clipboard and create a new deck in Hearthstone
I wouldn’t call this great: meta versions seem to run Quartermaster and Level Up! Which I have none of (disenchanted Level Up! when it got nerfed), and surprised myself by going 9-0 from Rank 20-15.
That being said, Sunkeeper Tarim did pull his weight a lot in those wins, which is a legendary you might not have, but Lightfused Stegodon and Steward of Darkshire pulled just about as much weight.
Not saying other’s people’s experiences will be like this, but other decks I’ve tried in Wild at Rank 20-15 is enough to have some fun with.
For climbing up past that, then decks would certainly get more refined, and some would be a lot harder to win with.
You can probably try it without Sea Giants and see if you like it, and craft 1
Forgot about Sea Giants. It is the only Epic I run in my version of Even Shaman:
1 Legend
2 Epics
14 Rares (Devolve could be removed for Hex)
11 Commons
2 Base Set
I’m going to partially echo this. Evens Shaman is not only strong, but it is versatile. The “common” Evens Shaman list claims to need cards like Lich King, Aya Blackpaw, and possibly Al’Akir.
In practice, it’s a deck with excellent levels of flexibility, and I have switched in and out dozens of cards for various effects. Aggressive lists will feature Crackle, Flamewreathed Faceless, Windfury, and/or Devolve, often all at the same time. Mine currently uses none of those, favoring a value game through Jade Spirits, Hex, and Arcane Dynamo. If I felt like swapping pieces out for Ancestral Knowledge or Fire Elemental, that would not be wrong either. Not one of these cards I’ve named in this paragraph is an Epic.
There is a firm core, as well as a looser core surrounding it. The firm core is Genn, two Murkspark Eels, two Things From Below, and two Sea Giants - the deck simply can’t do without. From there, you have a looser core composed of staples like Jade Claws, Jade Lightning, Dranei Totemcarver, Maelstrom Portal and Totem Golem; you could possibly play without, but it wouldn’t feel right.
Beyond that, everything else is about optional, with various levels of effectivity. I like Primalfin totems, but not Knife Jugglers. I like Dire Wolves to let my totems loose on Odd Paladins, but Jade Spirits are considered “greedy”, and should only come in if you expect to pair with Aya. A number of legendaries can help, but they usually favor the later game value plan - I really like my Zihi to block out combo decks for instance, but a more aggressive list wouldn’t care to use them.
Basically, the core is super cheap, almost entirely rares and commons to get off the ground, and if you do own evens legendaries, they can often be made to fit somehow. Want to play with Fire Elementals? Sure, they fit the theme, why not?
The one catch is that, ideally, you probably do want one super late game legendary, some sort of power card. Lich King, Rag, Hagatha… too many will obstruct your game plan, but one is really nice to have.
Other than that, there’s also Odd Paladin. Similar story to Evens Sham, quite cheap, with the main costs being tied to Baku and two Quartermasters; you’d need a number of old commons like Muster For Battle, sure, but better than crafting old legendaries, and it has a favorable time against KB Rogue which is popular right now.
It depends tremendously on your collection. There are so many potential Wild decks it’ll be nearly impossible for people to predict which ones you could play.
Also, how competitive you want to be makes a difference. Making it to the mid to low teens can be done with nearly any deck that is put together well, as lower-rank wild is more full of people screwing around. Getting high ranks will take highly specialized decks and a great deal of practice.
Wild is extremely unpredictable so I was looking for something super aggro - I see a few murlocadins. I tried Odd Mage but I don’t have Luna or Aluneth. Also, I kept getting my late game cards in my opening hand and I don’t have enough burst, I don’t think.
I looked at tempo mage but missing quite a few pieces for that as well. I’ve tried putting together a budget secret mage but that was an epic fail. All those freaking warlocks.
Innkeeper isn’t available for mobile so if there’s another way I can upload my collection for public view, let me know!
Keep in mind you don’t have to craft it immediately. I wanted to craft even shammy and I waited about one month to fully complete it. However, I have no regrets crafting it.
I remember I was like you.
When I first step into Wild, I was afraid to pick a deck that I would be playing, I didn’t know what deck I will enjoy, and at the time, I only have 4000-ish dust and no good wild cards.
I thought that, What if I can’t get to rank 5 each month? Am I capable of reaching it? What decks should I use?
My searches conclude that I should pick Even Shaman, and I did.
I crafted Genn, 2 Sea Giants, 4 mana 7/7, Aya, Jade Lightning, Jade Claw.
I ran out of dust, and simply play what is basically a tone down version.
I could had dust some cards (Golden Epics), but I was obviously a bit reluctant, albeit probably too late to even change my mind.
Anyway, I played even shaman that was a toned down version, with Ooze, and got to rank 10 (Highest I ever got till that point!), and so, I decided to upgrade it, changing Lich King with Fire Elemental, and walla.
It’s been 3 months and I have reach rank 5 consistently! Even after the FTT Nerf ^^
Even shaman is a great deck, but more importantly, WILD Mode is a great mode (Not regarding Big Priest, but their number are limited thanks to Kingsbane).
Just give it a go.
5000 dusts to reach rank 5, and have fun in a very diverse mode.
Tons of Janky stuff, ton of funs.
BUT : I must say, maybe mech hunter is a better choice if you lack dust, considering it doesn’t even need Rexxar, just play common and rare! But if you hate hunter that much, then I suppose play Even Shaman!
I don’t hate Hunter at all! I earned Hunter golden portrait and wanted to work toward another portrait. I’m waiting until next xpac has settled down. If I have enough leftover, I might work toward an Even Shaman. For now, I made it to r20 using this:
I play mostly Standard. But had a Hunter card quest and updated this recently. Had won a bit more than half from rank 20 to 18. Fun to play. Can get some crazy hyenna going. That card, vicious fledgling, and tap tap tap after some dmg can win some games even vs some ‘wallet’ control stuff.
