Why Such Hate for New Reward System?

The math is pretty straight forward. We get less. Period. If you look past the initial carrot on a stick which are the first few levels, it is painfully obvious this system is going to give me 6000 gold TOPS where I used to get 9000. As the grind increases and the rewards become less … you can calculate the approach of the final result without completing everything.

I don’t need to be lvl 48 to make the modest assertion that a year of the dragon pack as a reward is insanity. We landed on the moon without having ever been there … there are plenty of things we can assert about this system already because they gave us the roadmap and PROMISES of xp gain per hour.

I suggest you look at some of these content creators videos that do the math for you.

We already did. They do not deserve this optimistic outlook that we already gave them for months since learning about this system.

This math is not hard and the reward structure is deliberate and it directly contradicts what the lead designers said in interviews.

In the past I would have been inclined to give Blizzard the benefit of the doubt in this regard. However, the dishonest approach they used when pitching this new track system has robbed Blizzard of any right to leeway.

The fact that they deliberately lied to their customers and misrepresented the track system requires the tacit assumption from this point forward that Blizzard is going to lie again. Therefore I do not assume that Blizzard will make adjustments that are positive. I also assume that if they do make any “adjustments” then it does not automatically mean those adjustments are going to bring players even to the level where we were prior to the track system. My assumption is that they will make the most minimal, least-effort changes possible that leave players worse off than they were before.

That’s the way I’m looking at this until such time as Blizzard proves otherwise through generous, persistent, ongoing, and apologetic actions. Gentle twiddling with a few levers in the background to get us “close” to where we were before (but erring on the negative side) aren’t good enough and won’t cut it.

Those pack of cards from old expansions betwen gold stacks are a slap in the face, i will never buy that with gold since i already have most of them.

Grinding XP in a mode you don’t like for a pack of cards you don’t need sums up this update, i feel betrayed by their lies.

Look, I believe too that Blizzard will fix this and improvement, but this isn’t a ‘let’s see how it feels when everything shakes out’. It’s not a question of how it feels but of math, and their math is clearly far off.

Blizzard specifically stated, in their own words, that they everyone would be earning more gold regardless of how they played. Not more packs, not cosmetics, gold.

They need to fix it.

For me amount of earned gold is secondary issue. System feels awfull for me now. I want to get reward directly for completing quest. Not XP that I have to later redeem in some other submenu for actual reward.

Because it requires 120 HOURS of RANKED Playtime and people noticed up to 10-25% of that time is spent doing some other stuff like waiting in queue, making decks, checking stuff out, opening packs or simply, playing other modes that only ups the hours needed.
If this doesn’t make sense to you imagine I ask of you to please paint my house, I say I will give you a dollar for every seven strokes you make and multiply it for 5 if you work over 8 hours a day but divide it by 3 if you take over 5 days doing it and by 25 if you take over 10 and that again and again.
Yeah, it might be a pretty good deal under certain conditions but once you make the math you notice it is a scam.
You don’t even need to make the math, there are already scientific thesis level works out there telling you it’s a scam!
Why on earth, after all that you’re still thinking “I should still do it to see if it really is a scam?”

The problem is nobody at Blizzard even tweet or post anything about the situation today. I was on the fence on preordering this expansion but instead I bought two commander legend booster box, their lost.

Here , it says everything. Thank me later :sunglasses:
We’ve put together a handy table with all the experience requirements and rewards for the reward track, Hearthstone’s new progression system.

  • The variable rewards go up until level 50 at which point they become a simple 150 Gold every level.
Blizzard has stated in ranked play, you’ll earn around 400 XP per hour (wins give more XP). If you wanted to hit the max level of the system, 150, it would therefore require you to play 1610 hours of ranked Hearthstone! That’s 67 days straight which is definitely possible during the 4-month long cycle of the pass, and it doesn’t include the achievements and dailies that you would complete along the way.

How Long to Get to Level 50?

In total, you’re going to need to receive 196200 experience. We need to make a few assumptions though before we can give you any great math. For the sake of sanity, we’ll assume the following:

  • Every daily quest you receive is 800 XP (the lowest possible).
  • You are playing ranked Hearthstone which grants 400 XP per hour.

So, how long is it going to take?

If you were to simply play games, you’re looking at 20.4375 Days of gameplay. (196200 (XP for 50) / 400 (XP/Hour) / 24 (Hours Per Day) ). Obviously, we’re going to be doing much more than that though! This ends up being a difficult calculation to make though because there are a lot of factors involved, one being your collection.

Experience From Achievements

There are several achievements that reward experience and they are all from the Darkmoon Faire. We’re assuming the XP portion of these achievements will be removed when the next expansion launches as to not make it too easy to level up in that expansion, but they’re available now so let’s use them.

  • Each class has 5 different achievements.
    • The first two achievements each reward 200 XP.
    • The third achievement has 3 tiers rewarding 100 XP, 100XP, and 500 XP.
    • The total experience earned is 1100 per class .
  • There are 20 Neutral achievements.
    • The experience rewards are different for each achievement.
    • Completing all these achievements rewards 3800 XP .

With those achievements in mind, we get an easy total!

  • 11000 XP earned from all class achievements.
  • 3800 XP earned from Neutral achievements.
  • 14800 XP earned from Darkmoon Faire Achievements.

Completing all these achievements gets you, from level 1 to level 14.

The only downside to the achievements is that they require having specific cards and you need to be playing every class. As I said, this is difficult to calculate!

Experience From Daily & Weekly Quests

Each week you can complete three weekly quests starting on each Monday and every day you are given a new Daily.

  • 1 Weekly Quest will always be worth 2500 XP.
  • 2 Weekly Quests will be worth 1750 XP.
  • Your dailies are worth at least 800 XP.

With the above in mind, we’re looking at 6000 XP per week earned from the weekly quests and an additional 5600 XP (at the minimum) from dailies.

Completing your weeklies and dailies for the week gives you (at the minimum) 11600 XP.

The Final Count(down)

We’re going to assume that you play Hearthstone one hour per day to complete your daily quest and to make progression on your weekly ones. Assuming that is ranked play, because it is the highest value of XP per hour, that is 2800 XP per week.

So now we’ve got some baseline XP values to work with.

  • Quests : 11600 XP per Week.
  • Achievements : 14800 XP (once).
  • Ranked Play : 2800 XP per Week.

That gives us a total of 14400 XP per week and a one time boost of 14800 XP. With us needing 196200 XP to get to 50, we can knock that down to 181400 XP after the completion of achievements. This lets us solve the rest easy.

181400 / 14400 (XP per Week) = 12.59 Weeks

With it taking just over 12 weeks, that’s roughly 3 months or the full duration of the pass. So if you play an hour of Hearthstone a day and make sure you complete your quests and achievements each week, you’ll definitely hit level 50 to get that sweet alternate hero prize .

This has been proven wrong. Some people gain 250, others 300, but no one gets 400.

There are different estimates by different people, but they all agree it’s not close to 400xp per hour.

Didn’t you notice that you need more and more XP to gain a level as you climb? You just ate the carrot but you did not see the trap, right?

I love how they put achievements as a way to earn XP, but fail to acknowledge that you can only get an achievement once.

So, once you get your achievements, all that XP gain goes away.

Stop counting achievements as a consistent way to get XP.

Achievement once is ok, as long they add in new achievements.

Achievements that requires specific/ very narrow win condition is not ok, as most players cannot achieve them.

I hate this system as much as the next person but presumably when the next set launches with a new progression track there will be other achievements that can be used to get XP.

This is why I don’t trust game companies to actually address issues. Often times they will ignore complaints and hope people get bored and/or distracted by new shiny objects and just accept what’s going on. With this coming so close to the release of a new set my bet is they’re counting on new set hype to get people to forget about how they’re getting ripped off

But it won’t be as much as you are getting now. Right now you’re getting XP for achievements that you get for being new to the game. The next expansion will only include achievements from that expansion.
All these calculations include 1 time XP stuff.

In short, the amount of achievements available compared to now will be much smaller.

Those don’t give you XP. Only the current set and duels specific achievements give XP in the current path

If that’s true then I stand corrected. I thought I was gaining XP from stuff like “Win 3 ranked matches in a row”

Nope, it’s just the duels achieves and the current set achieves.

I’m going to assume most people only achieve 1/3 of the achievements, like half of them require epic/legendary cards or are very hard to complete. It’s an almost negligible amount of experience. Though if you have a good run in duels, that gives you about 200 gold extra over someone who can’t achieve that. That gives me a slight incentive to spend a little bit of dust on the scholomance epics.
