Why so many meta decks in new apprentice ranks

Half the cards I do not have and my opponent coming at me with full on net decks not just bunch of random cards. At apprentice ranks I should not be facing full on meta decks like I’m currently am.

Because there’s a whole bunch of Diamond and Legend players wanting to boost their self esteem by winning easy games against new players.

Then this pushes actual new players to spend money in very strong decks to compete with the smurfs.

They probably chose 1 class, dusted everything else and crafted a net deck for that class.

Because the only decks you ever see are Meta. The days of custom deck building and strategy have been dead for a long time now. To progress up the ranks, you usually need to follow the RNG casino meta, and just wait to see who draws the auto-win first. Good luck to you, just try and have fun!

Shadis (former gamer magazine) picked up MtG as a topic in 1994. MtG started in 1993, btw.

O tempora, o mores

I played MtG in Highschool, B&W Cleric deck

I recommend waiting for the next batch of ready-made decks and to purchase the best one possible. It’s worth the investment, I think. The best deck will probably be Aggro Druid.

In the meantime, you may want to dust what you have to in order to build the best deck you can for the least amount of dust. I’ll link to some budget decks.

Here we are.

The advice is good in principle, but the next expansion (likely early April) will rotate out 2020 releases and (word of Blue) exchange about 1/3 of the Core Set.

Caveat emptor

P.S. OP can still chose one full & free working deck after leaving apprentice ranks. Here‘s an article about it. Again, I‘m not sure how many of these cards will rotate out with the next expansion.

Thanks for pointing that out. I totally forgot about the upcoming rotation.

I suppose the best advice is to grind and save up gold until April.
