Why Reintroduce Charge?

Blizzard, you had a great idea with replacing charge with rush a few years ago. Rush has always been a decent mechanic and potent as well, as seen in various warrior decks and some other rush-heavy decks…

So why reintroduce charge back to the meta? Feels unnecessary when rush was healthy enough.

I’ll admit it baffled me when I saw Leeroy come back. As you mentioned rush is the balanced version of charge. Seems they forgot that lol.

Players were demanding more board based games but they didn’t want to diminish the OTK component of the game. this makes them all happy and sates the masses.

Because the game isn’t static so things get in and out all time.

Call me when they rotate the discover keyword.
It will be a blast.

Marketing will never allow that to happen.

Leroy wasn’t even the biggest problem imo. Southsea Deckhand was often going face for upwards of 15 damage for 1 mana. That’s a whole lot of damage for 1 mana or 4 if you wanted to windfury one of them. Oh well, paladin is still capable of swatting you down, just not quite as easily.

Charge actually wasn’t replaced by rush.

Charge was replaced by all the other ways people can win from hand.

Spell nuke OTKs.

These was briefly some jailer+tony thing, or the ransom deck in wild.

Locks have several different ways over the years: demon seed, curses, simply burning your cards so you have nothing to win with (or fatigue damage), excavate viper, and now wheel of death, etc

Quest priest aka the older, worse wheel of death. Previously they had reza priest that kill people via hero power spam.

Hunter had things like spitter and always bigger jormungar. The latter basically turns rushes back to charges. Or they had the quest so they use hero power spam to kill you

DK had morgraine and now curses that can eventually kill you

Odyn lets warriors turn their armor into something that kills you from hand

DH can do a lot of damage from hero attacks, and now they’ve got big demons

etc.

I think the question should be asked the other way around: why CAN’T charge be brought back? Yes charge dominated in the early days so it was pushed out to let other win cons have the spotlight, but it’s been long enough. Why can’t charge coexist with other win from hand win cons?

Cuz face is the place That’s why.

Dmg means lethal and lethal means win condition, thus charge should never have left.

Rush is pathetic to win the game, its just another control tool and its only useful when it comes with another effect.

Take off Taunt instead, I can’t go face with my Charge :sweat_smile:
