Why Murlocs are not good in constructed:
The problem is that the murloc-basic and murloc-classic-cards aren’t good.
Here some guesses:
“Grimscale Oracle” 1 Mana 1/1 Your other Murlocs have +1 Attack -> better could be 1 Mana 0/3 Your other Murlocs have +1 Attack
“Murloc Raider”: 1 Mana 2/1 better would be a 1 Mana 2/2
“Murloc Tidecaller”: 1 Mana 1/2 Whenever you summon a Murloc, gain +1 attack -> better could be 1 Mana 1/3 After one of your Murloc dies, gain +1 Attack
“Bluegill Warrior”: 2 Mana 2/1 Charge -> better could be a 3 Mana 3/2 Charge
“Murloc Tidehunter”: 2 Mana 2/1 Battlecry: Summon a 1/1 Murloc Souct -> better could be a 2 Mana 2/2 Battlecry: Summon a 1/1 Murloc Scout
“A new Basic Murloc”: 2 Mana 2/3 Battlecry: Draw a Murloc from your deck.
“Coldlight Seer” 3 Mana 2/3 Battlecry: Give your other Murlocs +2 Health -> better could be 3 Mana 1/4 Battlecry: Give your other Murlocs +2 Health
“Murloc Warleader”: No changes
These changes could make the Murloc-Archetype more playable in standard.
Murlocs are quite playable in standard. Murloc Paladin is still a decent deck, though it’ll get kneecapped when Prismatic Lens rotates.
@Bob My guess was for all hero-classes in the past and in the future and not only for the Prisma-Murloc-Paladin. And “Prisma” is going to rotate out on 7th April. This makes the actually Summon-Murloc-Paladin unplayable in constructed.
Murlocs are dirty, obnoxious fish people. They don’t need to be good in constructed.
These suggestions would make murlocs worse!
Murlocs are mediocre right now, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t been great in the past and could be great in the future. In fact there have been multiple great Murloc decks in the past year alone (see: Shadows era Murloc Shaman and SoU era Tip the Scales Paladin). Just because they aren’t good right now doesn’t mean the tribe needs a permanent and large-scale overhaul.
Why not delete hunter and priest instead?
They should not be part of the Paladin identity.
No matter how competitive they are, as an archetype, they will always be bad.
I feel the exact same way about Shaman. Maybe Murlocs should just get their own class and we can all be done with them.
I never understood what do murlocs have in common with paladins lol
That would make us all happy.
Therefore it will never happen.
Now that’s just racist.
Murlocs aren’t a race. They’re a disgrace.
It’s the whole, “United as one!” “We’re all in this together!” kind of thing I imagine.
they might be dirty, but they are pretty fair for constructed mrgl
They are bad.
The end.
Tidecaller being a 1/3 would be at Mana Wyrm/Tunnel Trogg levels. That card has massive snowball potential and is only set back in the fact that it a 1/2 and not a 1/3.
Only reason why Murlocs don’t always work in Standard is that there are no supporting classic spells per class that makes it viable. Every viable Murloc Spell are class specific, expansion specific cards that then happen to have Murlocs that work alongside it too.
The best thing about classic Murlocs is that they don’t have to reprint an entire set of Murloc cards each year to make it viable. They only need to print a few key supporting cards to fill in for specific classes (like Underbelly, Anyfin can Happen, Scargill, etc.) And a few other supporting neutrals and the deck can work the rest.
Murlocs are fine.
I have a joke for you. What kind of water do murlocs like best? Saltwater
I love murlocs!!! They’re fun, looking forward to Murloc Pally in the next expac (sorry to all you murloc pally haters out there!)
Please don’t ever face me on ladder. Or face me at all.
