I finally decided to try out this new class as a returning player and it seems very weak
Only half decent deck is double unholy/frost and maybe triple blood but why isn’t triple rune unholy/frost viable?
The triple rune cards aren’t even that strong as a payoff and come rotation DK looks screwed.
I like the flavor of DK but I had no idea it was so gimped, especially as a fairly newish class until I played it some myself.
Hopefully it gets a lot of help… the current state seems pathetic.
Did I miss it being OP and then mega nerfed like release DH or something?
The problem when DK came out was the ability to discover ANY card regardless of the rune restrictions you had when deck building. It was absolutely bonkers. When they made it so triple rune cards couldn’t be discovered if your deck didn’t allow it the class power level dropped a lot.
I thought they changed it to you can’t discover triple rune cards no matter what?
Yes you’re right. I was imprecise. I don’t play the class much outside of duels so hadn’t really noticed
Triple Unholy is still good. Marrowgar is one of the best cards in the game.
Triple Frost has mostly been forced out by having damage ceilings which are too low. The burn version doesn’t have enough damage, and the aggro version is so bad vs. control and isn’t like especially amazing vs. other aggro style decks. Triple Frost really suffers from what a lot of tempo decks suffer from, just a lack of ability to close out a game effectively.
I mostly see UUU in wild though, I can’t remember the last time I saw it in standard.
The problem are the runes and the fact that each expansion provides support for only one rune. So if it is a miss DK is screwed.
And even if it is a hit, next expansion adds card that supports different rune so previous effort is wasted.
Every class has this issue of abandoned concepts, but within DK its tripled.
Just go highlander. Reno alone makes any class viable… just add a theotar to steal your opponent’s wincon and you simply cannot lose. God i dispise those uninteractive overpowered cards.
