This only CCG I have ever seen has barley any new tech cards for you, fill deck counter on the meta. Every new expansion more power creep but now way to counter anything just keep printing stuff with no counter.
That problem hearthstone unlike other card games have tech cards for decks to counter stuff you face not HS. Why we don’t get counted for plague DK or any other knowing decks were a problem before last expansion release. Now it repeats of the same meta because don’t have good tech cards.
Because hearthstone players in general think that spamming board clears is somehow more interactive than a combo deck.
The only difference is that the first gets you bored for a longer time.
There are tech cards? Dirty rat is in standard no? So is rustrot viper? Have an issue with locations, theres a tech card for that as well. To some extent you can use announce darkness, arch villian rafaam, wheel of death or even Tony king of piracy for plagues/bombs/tnt etc. Yogg and Reno to counter unkilliax.
The tech cards they print are usually either too strong or too weak.
This. Regardless of what the tech card does, if it’s too strong and sees play in everything people will complain.
If the counters are too weak people won’t even consider adding them. There are counters to practically everything, but they are niche and therefor often useless against everything that’s not what you wanted to counter. Personally, I think that’s great. I feel that adding tech cards should make your deck weaker against everything else.
The middle ground are cards like Rustrot Viper and E.T.C that will see a reasonable amount of play and have a minimal impact on matchups they aren’t meant for.
Basically, since we are only ever playing 1 game against any opponent there is a big risk to adding tech cards at the cost of power/synergy.
This!!!
Theotar was never used as a “tech” card in your deck. It was a 4 drop that punished your opponent for playing a correct early mulligan based on opponent or discover. It should have ALWAYS been discard both NEVER keep. The keep part warped the card.
