Just what the header says. I would love to know why mage is still garbage. Seems like it has been getting progressively closer to trash since FLJ rotated. Is there someone in the HS dev team that has a personal problem with the class?
On a more constructive theme, how can it be fixed? Were you a HS dev what would be your solution? I personally favor bringing back Tempo and freeze.
Probably. That would definitely explain why prior to this expansion, Mage had by far the best Wild deck (and at least a second top-tier one).
FLJ was so crucial to mage because it provided a win con and healing, both of which mage does not have access to right now. Mage needs something to fill those roles, and while they are at it revert the mana wyrm nerf. Demon hunter has a 1 drop that is twice as good lol
They hate mage and love druid is my guess.

Wild decks reflect the amalgamation of every expansion. Devs have little to no control over how good a class winds up being in Wild. Mage has cards that cheat out secrets and they have extra face damage through spells like firelands portal from previous expansions as well as Ice block. Your answer has nothing to do with why Standard Mage has been garbage for so long.
Do they? Last I checked devs could (and had) nerfed decks because of how they perform in Wild.
And Quest Mage benefits from more recent additions like Ray of Frost, Elemental Evocation, Mana Cyclone, and Mana Giant, all of which are fairly recent additions (not to mention Archmage Vargoth, which is new, free, and much stronger in Wild than in Standard).
Neither does your “devs hate mages” theory, and yet here we are.
this once again misses the point. When all past expansions end up in one format there are going to be strong decks. It’s the nature of the beast. Nerfs will only change what class is on top in Wild. Which I’m guessing will be DH irrespective. You simply want mage nerfed and this is just you trying to push that narrative while avoiding the conversation about Standard.
I’ll be amazed if Quest mage manages tier four this expansion, and it’s the ONLY deck mage has that is currently playable.

Ok. Look at it this way: the devs suck at responsible design.
While Highlander and Conjurer Mage were archetypes that dominated the meta for their respective periods, classes like Paladin had to scrape the bottom of the barrel.
They can’t handle designing for 9, much less 10 classes.
So some will always be bad, from time to time.
That would be YOUR message and has nothing to do with the state of Standard mage.
Again, go make your own post for your concerns since you have nothing of value to contribute to this topic…
On the contrary. Highlighting the ridiculousness of the underlying premise is, in my opinion, very much of value to this topic. Plus, if you really don’t think it’s a valuable point, why do you keep engaging with it? It must be worth something, otherwise you’d just ignore it. Or at least, it’s what I would do.
Mage has been bad since FLJ rotated. And Random makes a valid point that many classes suffer because devs ignore them in favor of others. However; has paladin been awful for as long as Mage has? Because it seems pretty good right now. I think if I were using another class for an example I would sooner look to Shaman. Seems they are pretty crappy too.

I can only comment on what i do play and know and what I do play and know is that Mage is absolute jank and has been for a long time. It isn’t fun to play. It isn’t fun to win with and it loses to almost everything unless you play a get out of jail free card.
Weird. I remember Conjurer Mage, and the buffed Highroll Galaxy Mage.
Paladin mostly scraped by. And Murlocs are insulting.
Fact is: they (the devs) are bad. Accept it.

I agree the devs are bad. When was Conjurer mage tier 2 even? I don’t remember that. galaxy was good for like, a month and then they removed the buff. lol

It was a highrolly, very one-sided tier 1 deck. Then it was nerfed.

I hate the new cards. They gave mage a bunch of garbage that has zero synergy with anything else while giving other classes complete packages where all of the cards compliment one another.
Yeah. With all the sh1t happening, keeping track of all issues which were prominent in the past is even more difficult.

That legendary spell will make Wild Quest Mage more consistent (especially the Reno version), and adds very little to Standard Mage.
