Why do you pay to play this game?

I’ve heard it’s p2w from some people. This is not the case for me, and I have spent zilch on it for several years now.

The reward track is far more generous than it used to be. I can run any deck for 5 heroes on standard as a f2p. That’s just about enough for me, perhaps not for others.

My biggest gripe with spending money on this game is the lack of urgency from the devs in balancing the game. They are just too slow to address issues that are driving a lot of the player base crazy. The result is often that I’ll take a break for a couple of months, and then return at the launch of a new season with often misguided optimism.

A large part of me just wants them to discontinue support for this game, it’s felt half-assed for a while now. It would be great for me too, I think, because like a tortured lover I’ll keep coming back!

Perhaps I can free myself. Does anyone have any suggestions for a card-based alternative that I can have a go at?

It would be better if you would own your own behavior instead of claiming to be a victim of addiction.

i don’t pay to win i just pay because i like to get the cards and golden cards and signature cards. and hero portraits and all that jazz. it’s pointless waste of money maybe but i like it.

it has a small cost

only spell speed 3 works on spell speed 3 does cause lots of arguments

I collect things I like.

From every season of Stargate SG-1 to a Kagome figure to cards in a digital card game.

Yeah what the OP didn’t tell us is that in order to do that they were playing for YEARS and did all the quests. For a new player the game is devastatingly-p2w on the higher ranks; they can practically play only 1 or 2 decks for at least 1 or 2 months; after that they have to wait for at least TWO YEARS to reach your point since they’ll have to wait for 2 rotations at least to reach your point.

And it’s unclear even if you can have “ALL THE DECKS OF FIVE HEROES”; you probably imply only the best decks; and you probably mean around ~5-7 decks total.

You are not a victim. What you are, is controlling. You stubbornly insist that someone who has no interest in appealing to you appeal to you. You think that if you punch yourself in the face enough times that the world will owe you something.

(I’m not that much better, but I admit that I have a problem.)

Because I like to support the game.

Also many noobs think that if you are p2w the “algorithm” gives you free wins and that intimidates them and play worse when they see many golden cards.

And no Atlantis…For shame i would understand not having Universe but Atlantis is also a must have.

If they’re going to believe the lie, you might as well use that to your advantage

If you want to get free, then just stop playing, it’s just you and none else.
If you ask for a new game, then you just tired of this one and wish to continue the same elsewhere.

I liked Universe. It just took a season to find its legs. They never let it have another season where i think it could have really hit its stride.

That wasnt the series only problem, even other better Sci Fi shows have weaker first seasons:

TNG toke 2 seasons to get the formula right and they had Weasly dragging the show down.

Voyager first 2 seasons villains the Kazon were horrible and Kes romance with Neelix was creepy at best.

DS9 first 2 seasons were a total Babylon 5 ripoff and it toke the Defiant and Worf star power to balance it into something unique.

Star Gate Universe for me had way too many shortcomings, Robert Carlyle is an amazing actor but Rush cant carry the whole cast on his back…
We had way to many episodes were Sci Fi takes a back seat to soup opera tropes, and its not a good sign when i start rooting for characters to die.

Now would i have taken more seasons of Universe ?
100% ,im starved for Star Gate content but it would have never reached the levels of quality in SG1 or Atlantis (even if it was getting better).
