Why do you find aggro fun?

Why do you find aggro fun? I can’t believe it’s the gameplay, there is almost no decision making, you just tempo face 4-6 turns and the game is over. Is it just winning for winning? Like, is winning at Hearthstone with the meta deck you googled a big part of your life enjoyment? Do any aggro player play for hours, don’t really enjoy the gameplay, but since they had more more wins than losses they find the whole thing somehow fulfilling?

Idk, I just imagine all aggro players are smooth-brained people who would play rock-paper-scissors all day long if they could play a meta strategy with 60% win rate.

Yes, some players just want to climb the ladder and don’t care about other aspects

They are also probably from the era when you got more gold for more wins, and longer games were worthless

when an argument is easy to switch around with just a different word used, then the argument wasn’t solid to begin with.

Na, because at legend it’s also mostly aggro. And even at low legend, like 2000+ it’s also mostly aggro, yet clearly they aren’t climbing.

I hate aggro. It’s probably literally the only reason so many taunts were added to the game so taunts plague Wild.

If you switch it around like you did it’s efing dumb XD and you know it (I hope). How many meta deck do we have that can just spam removal and reliably win or make aggro scoop by turn 5-6?

I mean, if you really think control and aggro have the same level of decision making, you’re probably dumb enough to enjoy aggro =P.

If you need an exemple : the average ‘‘turns held’’ for cards in aggro druid is 1 turn … all cards are held less than 2 turns on average. Where the decision making when you’re basically playing in topdeck mode from turn 4 every game.

What’s fun about a 30 minute control slogfest? There’s a reason priest is the most hated class.

i’m actually smart enough to know that there are dumb control decks as there are dumb aggro decks.
and that are smart aggro decks as there are smart control decks.

speed does not play role in the difficulty of the deck. The only dumb ones here are the ones who think so.

but if you feel so insecure about your performance that you have to blame certain playstyles instead of actually getting good, then spin the narrative however you want.

just know that until you realise that excuses only get in your way in becoming better then you wont become better.

p.s. i play all kinds of decks, from aggro to control to combo to tempo and etc. the only defining feature for me to choose a deck is if i have fun playing it, nothing more, nothing less.

I play all control, midrange, combo, and aggro, and I consider them all fun archetypes. There is a plenty of decision making.

Idk. You probably don’t enjoy games/board games/card games where decision making and resource management are required.

I personally understand how a slow game with long term decisions can be fun.

Stop saying : BuHt wHat abUt ConTroL?
I’m trying to understand what is the fun of playing aggro. Control could be the most boring thing in the world, that doesn’t answer the question.

What I find fun about control :
Resource management and risk/reward of drawing, clearing board, developing, healing etc. to gain a control advantage without dying.

What people seem to like about aggro :
BuHt wHat abUt ConTroL? cONtrol Sukcs mOar!

I really think the answer is : I find enjoyment in short, low decision, top deck aggrofest based mainly on muligan luck and who goes first.

decision making and resource management are required

That’s not why people hate control.

People hate control because of the priests stalling by rezzing the same minions several times over.

People hate control because of a warrior stalling by buffing his armor for 10 rounds.

People hate control because of druids stalling by mana cheating for 6 rounds before they do anything on the board.

Most control decks are just lame, they take the fun out of the game. They are snoozefest games.

People play games to have fun, not to fall asleep.

Some people find winning optimally and efficiently more fun than waxing poetic about their own IQ while they obsess over the complications involved in Control mirrors.

Whoulda thunk it?

Different people find different aspects of card games to be fun. We’ve known this for many, many years.

There is some irony in your post when you claim aggro players don’t enjoy resource management.

No, aggro players are very good at resource management, many have realized shorter games are more effective at gaining ranks.

Thanks for the honest answer : winning at HS is fulfilling and the gameplay is not that important.

I already said it, but low legend where people aren’t climbing is also an aggrofest. But yea, I guess that’s an other honest answer for why people like aggro : not for the gameplay but for the fulfilling quick HS ranks.

There’s probably a good amount of truth to that.

Riffing off what Nanni was saying, Aggro players are often metagamers who are more concerned with their performance at a competitive level in regards to their ranking in the system, not the lengthy back-and-forth that rings some of the more traditional CCG players’ jimmies.

Neither is s wrong approach really, as HS is a game that rewards winning first and foremost but is still a CCG and can pack some pretty crazy, story-worthy experiences.

Also, beatdown always appears “brainless” if you’re the controller. Aggro mirrors can get pretty serious if both players actually know what they’re doing and what the opposing deck is capable of.

In terms of skill, combo > control > aggro. This isn’t really an opinion, there are objective methods of measuring skill rating and this pattern emerges over and over again.

So I always find it funny when the meme of “aggro dumb control smart” comes up again. It’s like people of middling intelligence making fun of the intellectually disabled to feel better about themselves.

It depends what you consider to be a combo. Most HS ‘‘combos’’ are so simple, they’re like 2-3 cards at most. Quest rogue + ram commander + shadowstep in wild isn’t toping any skill chart.

The ‘‘combo’’ skill is actually the control until you can draw your 2-3 cards autowin. (I know there are a few real and complex combo decks, like miracle, the old quest lock with stealer of souls or maybe something like mill rogue).

The smart/dumb isn’t super serious or important. It’s more akin to :
I could play a complex board game for 2 hours, lose, and still have fun. That’s how I see HS control.
I could play 100 quick rock paper scissor games, win 70% of them, and still find the whole thing quite boring and unfulfilling. That’s how I understand aggro.

And since the main answers to ‘‘what is fun with aggro’’ are : winning and efficient climb/ranks (and : control sucks!1!!), which have nothing to do with the actual gameplay…
I think the truth is shallow enjoyment of easy quick wins without real consideration for any gameplay aspect.

Because midrange sucks and control is boring. I don’t know why I’m telling you this or why you feel entitled to an answer. Nobody owes you anything and we don’t have to justify why we like the decks we like. Get over it.

I’m not entitled to anything. This is a … f o r u m … maybe you didn’t know, but forums are about discourse and discussion.

And yet, an other senseless ‘‘aggro fun because midrange and control not fun’’. Why couldn’t all 3 be not fun? The intrinsic fun of aggro has nothing to do with the other deck types.

But that might be an other honest answer … you ‘‘must’’ play HS, so you pick the least unfun/most meta deck type, and sometime it’s aggro.

I’m still waiting for my first
Playing aggro is fun because : ______________________________________________
With an answer that is actually about gameplay and not about wins/ranks/climb/meta.

I play a variety of decks, with no real bias towards one archetype. Aggro can be fun for punishing players who have greedy decks and expect not to get pressured, kaz druid is a big reason I have been playing aggro recently.

On the conversation of skill requirements for decks, it varies widely in between decks, sure there are easy aggro decks like pirate warrior but there are more complex ones like beast druid.

And control decks aren’t all more complex than aggro, bolner otk is pretty easy and kaz warrior is also pretty simple.
