You see, I’m a semiprofessional priest hater (I don’t get paid for hating, but I do it as it was a job) and well, I’m struggling to hate on priest rn
For once, facing priest isn’t that toxic and I don’t find them in 40% of my games anymore
One could say that’s a good thing but even for me it’s a bit sad to see priest like this, hating on priests was my fuel to keep going everyday, I don’t know what will I do now…
They still have very good Zarimi and Pain decks (at least). I personally don’t play them because Zarimi was nerfed and got dust out of it.
All priests and warlocks and warriors will be hugely different after rotation next expansion since they change most of their best cards.
People usually play a certain class because of the design and archetypes around it. For example, people play Druid to ramp mana and do big things later in the game.
Priest was never an aggro class in the past, so most aggro players weren’t playing Priest. They were playing classes that were designed to be aggro.
Priests just recently got lots of support for aggro archetypes.
My theory is that people who play aggro decks don’t play Priest because they likely don’t want to invest in Priest cards and just rather stay with Demon Hunter instead and that Priest players aren’t playing aggro because that’s generally not why they picked playing the class in the first place.
It’s the only thing I can think of. This is why I’m not playing Priest and instead am playing DK or Paladin. Both of those classes are doing things the classes normally do.
And if I wanted to play an aggro deck, I’d just play Demon Hunter.
XL shadow priest is everywhere in competitive wild. I may have to breakdown and make one as I haven’t bothered to climb to legend the past two months.
Hate something else then, problem solved. I hated Priest the most too until DK released. Priest always had answer for almoast everything, copy half of the enemy deck, generate tons of resources and heal a lot of HP too easy. DK proved to be even worse.
I still see tons of em with Zarimi Priest. I don’t like playing control priest archetype with no clear win cons. But I do enjoy previous iteration of Raza shadowreaper anduin priest and savior of uldum inner fire priest (I do have Zarimi priest as well but I rarely use that deck). I might enjoy elwynn boar priest if I was playing hearthstone at that time.
There’s tons of priests infecting the meta most are dragon priests or aggro priests, both disgusting decks to play against
Zarimi is about the only deck they have that can compete. The issue is that it gets out aggroed by shaman and some control decks can gain so much armor that the extra turn does not mean much.
Really I win at 62% in Legend.
As a priest only player, I feel I should say something.
Gimmick wins are just boring. I played priest because of their ‘comback from the brink if death’ style. If felt really good to use your brain and resources to survive an onslaught in the early turns and slowly overpower your opponent.
Nowadays it’s just whatever cheap shot gimmick or repetative fun killing win condition the devs think up. I hate having my hand held by a control freak dev.
there are many many fun cards in priest now
like using the new neutral spell to set up rad een
Gonna have to disagree on this. Past shadow priest builds could be VERY aggro. Similar to druid aggro you’d see a bunch of early 1-drops and could easily be dead in 3-4 turns. It’s just been a hot minute since aggro priest was a thing.
As above said, priests did technically have aggro support in the past. Not a lot, but they were added here or there.
Early years of HS also had a couple things that help priests make aggro work.
-no rotation so the card pool of all the possible priest aggro cards (and neutral ones that they may like) from the past are available
-healing/armor/board clears/big flip turns etc were less robust or common back then, so there’s more leeway for an aggro deck (not just priest) to be viable
Nowadays decks are pressured to be very refined and/or specialized to survive. Can there be a refined aggro priest? Sure, but that will take time and likely further support (in minset and future expansions). But they will still have to compete with whatever developments control priest and other priest decks get, as well as whatever other classes are doing.
Rogue can play “other classes” thing way better.
Warrior and druis have way better survavility tools.
For aggro shaman have a much more solid deck.
Feels like everything priest can do the others classes can do much better.
The only really good card priest have is the titan, but alone that is not enough to make the cut.
I would say shadow/undead priests were very aggressive. Even their board control spells could also hit face and killing their minions often did damage to the opponent. Unfortunately, it had some rather nasty weaknesses. Still was fun to play though.
Is it possible some priests went to the school of John Cena?
I discovered an obscenely high win rate priest deck in the stats, that most don’t know it exists. It’s called anchorite.
Here’s the code to copy paste AAECAa0GCJ2gBP3EBcfHBZCDBumYBsekBozBBtfSBgui6APIxgWi6QX7+AWr+gWWoAbEqAaL1gaO1gbz4Qb44QYAAQbP9gX9xAXJgAb9xAXzswbHpAb2swbHpAbVwQb9xAXu3gbHpAYAAA==
Problem for me is that it has cards from 2023 and I’m not crafting those that late before rotation.
