Just curious, why there is quiet a few horrible trinkets in the game that noone ever picks.
Some greater trinkets are worse then some lesser trinkets, even for the same tribes.
And then there is cards like get a minion of each tribe for 5 mana. Noone has ever bought that trinket i think and its not the only one that never sees play like avenge 5 to give a minion reborn.
Why are these trinkets in the game it makes no sense to me. BG doesnt have to sell cardpacks with filler so why is the filler there?.
Like there is more trinkets which arent great but they can be situationally good,if you need tempo or. Most of the trinkets have a use but there is a few which never see play. They just fill your options with a blank. Why not remove them.
Are the trinkets bad…or are you neverlucky?
Exquisite Dishware. I bought this one once. I misread it or something and thought it was gonna give me copies of one minion of each type I controlled. It filled my hand with garbage lol
Bad trinkets are in the game to add variance. Getting the good ones is supposed to feel like a high roll
They haven’t had a hard pass yet to adjust them in mass. About half the trinkets are bad or just straight up useless. The other 45% are game defining and very good. The last 10% are busted beyond belief and lead to auto wins in the lobby regardless of what your opponent does.
The bigger overall issue is that they gave us a set of parameters that would give you access to specific trinkets based on a board composition you created. Unfortunately the algorythm can be easily fooled by things like Amalgam minions and minions that don’t fall exactly into that minion type but are part of a tribe. So it gets easily fooled and defaults to the pool of bad trinkets. Thus you can end up with the system getting confused and it just hands you 4 crap choices while someone else gets the nuts. With how strong tempo is in the trinket meta you do not want to start losing tempo on that turn leading to the bigger trinkets in 3 turns.
ATM all they could do to adjust anything was cost changes and that does nothing if you are offered a trinket that is insanely broken. Hopefully this week in the patch they have they will do some bigger adjustments and mess with their internal algorythm on what trinkets the system offers you.
My personally feelings at this point is that it’s a horrible mess but about on par with how Quests were when they first went live. It will take time to fix this mess.
This is yet again where Amalgam tribe tag can cause a huge mess with what you are offered. they are my favorite tribe to play but you can tell they didn’t design the system for a player to have multiple amalgams in play.
I feel like the “bad trinkets” are only really bad in the sense that several are so stupid broken that they render the rest useless - as in the bad trinkets are the correct power level.
The trinket that gives a tier 7 minion every turn is just dumb.

I had this with a drakkari enchanter and it was just like printing money until you get borderline board-locked

These are my favorite minions to play, no matter my build. I get weirdly happy when I find some mid-grade synergies between my naga/elemental build, my all type minion and my one murloc on my board from discovering a buddy. I’ve seriously just wanted a lightfang trinket this whole season and haven’t been offered one yet.
Its not only that other trinkets are better. There is a few trinkets that are genuinly bad. You would be better of not having to spend the gold then beeing forced to buy hose trinkets.
Feels like they have toned down the powerlevel already. Today i got considerably worse trinkets. One pick even had 2 cards discounted because they didnt fit, which was the first time it happend for me since the patch came out. Lots of low mana cost trinkets beeing offered today as well (which obviously are less powerfull). Had picks where the most expensive trinket was 2 gold, which was a first as well.
I hope they dont nerf it to hard. I remember previous updates which where a lot of fun at launch and then lost all the spice after the first major nerf. There is also so much to balance. Like they can nerf automaton (which isnt even that op tbh) but then there will be other things. The highest scaling builds go to 2k-3k and its several builds and tribes that can go there. The stats have never been this high.
I miss nightbane / KT infinite attack shenanigans.
Trinket algo must be bugged as hell. I keep getting offered 0 tribal ones even with a full warband of monotribe. Patch feels like a huge letdown.
When it works as intended, its really fun and it opens up for some diverse builds.
They did tone down the trinkets i think. At least the quality of the trinkets offered. I now had greater trinket choices where the most expensive choise was 2 mana with very little synergy. This never happend in the first week.
I seen this patern with every single update. First week everyone gets all the op stuff, its weighted towards that. And then 2nd week the non biased rng comes in and people get worse synergys.
This patern is real i think,i have seen it both in constructed as well as in BG. First week after an update is the honeymoon period. Then everything works, you never get horrible synergies and you always have interesting and powerfull choices. Then 2nd week is the real meta.
Its a really fun patch though,in general this is one of the best patches this game has had. So i am quiet pleased with it. It did make me lose some sleep past week.
